X55 worth getting?

The last time i tried tower said i was number 8 for departure then a few mins later i requested take off and they said i was number 9 for departure…weird. They told me runway 36, at Kunsan AB where you go left from where i do my ramp start and i could see 36 numbered on runway. In the end i just took off anyway, despite their calls to clear runway…and once i got airborne i tracked an F-15 and shot it down with my gun. Fired a few rounds and they missed, he asked if i’d lost it and that my career was over…next burst hit home and he exploded. All good fun, good practice as it was only training.
Was getting some lag at times, was a bit choppy…odd as my pc can easily run BMS on max settings.

What is your fps (frame rate)?
-
Possibly holding in the wrong place would be my guess?
Or not close enough to the active?
Gary, how close do i need to be? wherabouts? i thought i was close enough but maybe not.

What is your fps (frame rate)?
I didnt see it in game, how can i find out? i’ll have to try it tomorrow now guys i need my bed. Catch you later man.

I actually prefer what i’ve now got it binded to, and i just ramp started my plane in the ramp start TE, removed chocks and got cleared to taxi, but i got a bit lost in taxiing…managed to find the runway in the end but i was told to hold short…and never got cleared to take off, waited a long time and didnt see any other aircraft waiting to take off by this point, just a few were coming in to land but i’m sure there was time for me to get airborne and like i said was waiting a long time…any ideas why?
Once you should take the #2 slot and just follow the AI lead once to see where he goes and when. Expect to get automated clearance to takeoff :25 prior to your waypoint #1 DTOT (aka your takeoff time). If that comes and goes (unless it’s because of traffic) then you won’t get it ever. Timing your taxi is a black art so you show up on time but don’t get in front of another flight taking off first.

Well in this ramp start TE i was the flight lead (were 4 aircraft in a diamond shape in the mission screen….the screen with the map of korea with your steerpoints and other info and my aircraft was positioned top). I think the first time i tried i was in the wrong part, think it was a runway exit point for landing aircraft (it wasnt at either end of the runway, more around the middle). The second time i tried i taxi’d to the far left of runway so i was gona be on runway 36 which tower said i had to take off from. I got there, checked the time, still a bit early as take off time in mission screen was 8:00 and it was 7:54 something like that. Then like i said above when asking the tower for clearance at first was told i was number 8 for departure, then number 9. I looked behind my plane and saw others lining up, think they were in my flight but there was some F-117s but think they had landed…and a hawkeye. I’ll try it again its just i have 2 questions.
1. How am i supposed to know which way i go for the runway? the first time i tried i got lost
2. How do i know when i should leave the ramp area to taxi so that i’m in the correct position in order of take off with other flights? when it said i was number 9 for departure i take it that means i have to wait for 8 others to take off first? and when it said this, i was at the front of other aircraft that were behind me, in position to enter the runway…so they wouldnt have been able to take off. -
Question 1 - Using your HSI would be helpful.

Question 1 - Using your HSI would be helpful.
Pretty sure he’s talking about while he’s still on the ground.
-
That is correct…while on the ground.

That is correct…while on the ground.
I’m not really sure how the HSI will help him locate the right taxiways to take to the right runway.

Tune the HSI to the runway heading…that will give you the general direction of the runway (layout).

Not the complete answer but studying and knowing where you are on the airport charts is a massive help!!..in docs folder…
Being in front of other flights who are due to take off before but stuck behind you explains your very long wait. ATC won’t clear you until they have gone!!
As someone else explained…time your arrival to the runway carefully…

Ok i’ll have to work on it and see, and yea before i depart a AB i’ll check which way to go for the runways using that airport chart. So i guess if they say i’m number 6 for departure runway 14 for example….then that means i gota look see who is waiting to take off on that runway and fall in line. Thing is once i request taxi, i should be in line for departure from that point as long as they tell me to taxi. If my take off time is for 8pm, should i not request taxi until say 7.55?

Dig up your airbase’s diagram, the once on the Ramp go to Satellite view and zoom out if needed
- It’s never taken me more then 5 minutes to get from Ramp to the runway, so I finish of my preflight and taxi 5 minutes before my flight time

Ok yea so thats it, like i said above if my take off is 8, then taxi at 7.55….unless i dont get clearance to taxi but that wouldnt happen as they should know im due to depart at 8.
So to get clearance to take off at say 8…ramp start then check time, at 7.55 get clearance to taxi…make way to runway (will study the airbase and which way to go for each runway before ramp start in the airport charts folder).
Popping out now, will try this tomorrow, cheers all. -

Correct, and I’ve never had the tower deny clearance to taxi.
Have fun. Once you get rolling with BMS is when you really start to enjoy it. It’s ruined F4AF for me!:p -
Well in this ramp start TE
Ah yes, the ramp start TE… more crowded than you are likely to find in a campaign mission. WeaponDeliveryPlanner has a new feature that shows the airbase departure schedule if you want to be really tidy about it. And here it is:
Python should slot between Claw and Nightmare so listening for Claw to ask for departure and then 1-2 minutes later following with your own flight should be just fine. It’s a 5 minute window before Nightmare will get ahead of you. To mesh well with AI you should taxi about 5 minutes before takeoff time, longer or shorter depending on the distance, a 1-2 minute wait at the hold short line is normal. Most of the flights takeoff before you and are arriving traffic as you depart.
How to get to (and from) the runway: Always enter and exit the runway from the very ends, taxiway A or E in the case of Kunsan. In the TE00 you start on the ramp between F and B taxiway. Getting to runway 36 is a simple matter of rolling forward a short distance and making a left to follow the taxiway parallel to RWY 36/18 (which I will call Z for reference since it’s unlabeled) south. In general operation it’s also possible to start in the South Loop HASs which is normally associated with taking off RWY 18. The proper path out of that place is to follow the loop clockwise and take F to Z and then along Z to either A or E depending on departure runway. The classic mistake is to miss F and take C which is an old closed runway.
The AI will hold position if you leave the expected path until you rejoin it later. If they follow you every step of the way that’s validation of the route. Taking the wrong route (or going too fast) leaves huge gaps which other planes can taxi into and then you have merged flights and that’s a screw up.
When is possibly more important and difficult than the path. It’s all about keeping your ears open and knowing who is supposed to be in front of you and behind you. If you start up and request taxi as fast as physically possible you absolutely will get to the runway way too early and in front of people leaving first. The fix for that is not to let it happen in the first place. The airport schedule feature of WDP makes it easy but not doing that knowing how long it takes to taxi and adding a minute should be about right. Getting on ATC comms early in the startup lets you clock earlier previous flights.
The radio isn’t a fix for anything. One flight member (usually human lead) calls for departure prior to taxi and that’s it. There’s no request for takeoff. You show up at the runway on time, in the correct order, together, via the correct path, at the hold short line and tower clears you for takeoff 25s prior to your scheduled takeoff time. Anything else is a screw up. If you want to takeoff earlier than your scheduled time then just take the runway, the AI will follow. ATC will not respond to any requests for anything else.

That WDP is awesome, can that be used for any flight i make in game? for example lets say i start a campaign and i’m in the UI screen with the map and i see the frag order for my FS. I’ve seen what it does although i have yet to do a campaign (for obvious reasons) and that frag order, correct me if i’m wrong, is the ATO for my fighter squadron which is made of a number of packages to achieve a specific goal, for example strike an enemy AB to render it useless. So lets say for that frag order i click to join a TarCAP and all the info is there including take off time. Can i then, using whatever info i need (package number?) go into the WDP to find out the AB’s departure schedule? which would include take off times for the other packages?
One other thing, a HAS…is that a hardened aircraft shelter? that was really well explained, everything above, thanks.

WDP can be used for campaigns and tactical engagements. I believe “HAS” means Harms Attack System…not 100% though.
