Thanks a lot guys ! ⌠some who posted here very well know the hard road it was to get this far !
I remember when i went for the selection exams (France) and i looked around me and saw all those guys with at least 1000 hours more than me ⌠me with my actual 300 hours felt very ⌠out of place.
We had different kinds of exams, and simulator assessment was the toughest one. I was very surprised when they wrote on my report that despite my lack of experience i was very calm ⌠i can only think about how well BMS helped me in that regard. Of course real life training in Canada was big part of it.
Itâs all only a game maybe âŚbut somehow âŚafter trying to play seriously, i somehow developed some attitude while flying.
I am not ashamed to say that once i left the Airline Office âŚand when i was well out of sight of anyone, i just broke down in tears ⌠it was just an awesome feeling to study hard and get rewarded for it. But, i am very very fortunate ⌠now it becomes harder and harder to get hired with 300 hours Total time and to get the whole Type rating, housing, food and line training paid by the airline ⌠and you donât have to pay it back. I am very thankful for that.

Yep, as the rule today is âpay to flyâ, you did a nice job.
Congratulations Spooky and have nice flights (caution with right main gear, though)VMFA_Hud / }{ĂšdÂŁx

Well done my friend! Should I expect you to @LGAV at some point?!

Believe my words, if it was just a game then these gentlemen below wouldnât play in '42 within a war⌠âIt has to be something bigger than thatââŚ

@ Hudlx ⌠will do sir ! :), yes pay to fly is killing the market âŚ. i am glad Air CĂ´te Dâivoire rejected that option.
@ Raptor, for now Air CĂ´te Dâivoire is strengthening itâs sub-regional network and domestic network. 18 sub-regional destinations with A-319âs ,320âs, and Dash 8 Q400. Domestic network with the Dash 8 Q400. By 2016 they will have 4x Dash8 âŚi get to fly the brand new one out of the Bombardier Factory !!!
But in a not so far future âŚAir CĂ´te Dâivoire will go beyond Africa ⌠New-York - Paris and DubaĂŻ. There are already Emirates flights (A330) coming into Abidjan. The Airport has now been certified for direct flights from the US to Abidjan. And we also get the Air France A-380 coming in.
So maybe one day we will get in Greece :)!
It is more than just a game ⌠that is for sure.

As with racing sims (most f1 teams build their own rigs these days, and theyâre also common in the âlower echelonsâ of motorsports), the immersion really can help you build good habits and get rid of bad ones. Like many here have said, itâs all in the âway you playâ BMS, wether you take it seriously or just enjoy blowing up stuff on the range from time to time will really affect your behaviour in real life in similar situations.
Storytime: A few years ago when I was travelling in a rental car to my former companyâs manufacturing plant in northeastern Germany, I hit what must have been a freezing patch or an oil spill when taking the highway exit (those are usually tight right turns here in Germany). I wasnât going very fast (maybe 60-70km/h), but more or less instantly would have lost the rear end of the car if I hadnât made a lightning quick correction on the steering, setting the vehicle straight again and being on my merry way.
Only once the adrenalin had subsided in my system I realized that Iâd just had a really close shave totalling or at least badly damaging the car, but hours and hours in rfactor and rfactor2 (best racing sim out there) had somehow prepared me mentally for just such a mishap.
It felt really weird and the workmate I was travelling with was quite impressed, too, but it goes to show that sims really do help prepare you for the unexpected.
Again, clear skies & happy flying! Keep us updated on your progress and make sure to take lots of photos
Uwe

Wie geht es dir ? (how are you?)
I used to live for a couple for years in Germany, in Hessen (Darmstadt/ Frankfurt am Main), and i do miss Germany a lot ⌠truly beautiful country, i also went to school in Germany in a German school.
Good story mate, i can only agree with you on the way simulation can prepare you for some situations.
I will for sure post some pictures âŚespecially the ones when we fly around CBâs going up to 30 000 feet !! ⌠we are spot on the ITC, inter tropical convergence zone⌠so we get clash of the titans weather version down here. And the sunsets are impressive ⌠i just canât wait to land in Nigeria or Burkina Faso âŚor Mali !!!
