Nice work Tom, looks pretty good so far!
Will these tiles be compatible with stock Korea campaign?
-
@Tom:
Many Thanks,
well - I`ve corrected some elevations of rivers and coast lines. Here is a small update about what I have now (out of the game without photoshop):
Of course ist not the final look. I will make it more yellow and add more contrast. However-
Cheers

Wow this is amazing. Great work. Is this a replacement for the original stock Korean Theatre?
-
@Pops1stVFW:
It’s only a replacement for the terrain. It won’t alter other things such as campaigns, weapons, models, etc.
Awesome, that’s what I need. Btw, has anyone tried this yet?

Thank you guys,
I will give a small update. First I will start with the Facts:
90% of all textures are made. Allthough I rebuilded the map I used somewere between 20 to 15% of the original texture sets. Th rest are totally new textures and another philosophy of map building for BMS Theaters. The main reason was the terrible tiling effect in most of the BMS Theaters.I started with the “main” texture which is a rise field. This surface is neutral and you cant see tiles at Long distances. So ist easy: there is nothing- so it is a rise field.
The rest are larger places of tree lines, street parts or villages which kills the tile effect in medium and low Levels. That was important for my work…I used photos of Japan which is nearly to Korea. I wasn`t able to find summer pics of that area in good Quality. So you can say: 70% of that work is looking for good Pictures- That was very boring sometimes. However- For now all is 100 % original satellite textured…
I was able to create a photoshop Routine to create realistic night textures. That was hard but at the end the result is looking good for me….
Finally I established the original Kotar Range textures because a lot of poeple asked for them in the past…
So what I have to do next is testing, testing , testing … . I will try to fix all that small Errors in the map and will intigrate some more variations and interesting parts of Korea. The rest of the work are hundreds of small Little Details to make the look round and realistic.
Sorry for my bad English- I had a big load of Italian Red Wine. Hope the sence will be clear so far. However - Thanks for all Support of the great BMS community.
Cheers
TomPS:
-I tested the package in all 3 campaigns - works fine
-All textures are 512x512 - that should be good for Performance and look
-All screenshots are made under Sweet FX conditions

Looks great Tom Catz. I like how it looks similar to the stock tiles (meaning you can tell where roads and cities are) but it still looks photorealistic. Well done.
Always impressed how fast you do it too.

wow 512x512… Imagine what could be done with 1024…
They look superb…

Thanks,
well- I risk my marriage all times I start a BMS Project

Keep going! Tell the wife you are almost finished.

Buh the 3-4 weeks moto will do the job on her!!!
Don’t know about Tom though…

I think we should stop calling these “tiles”, given that the tile effect has been erased … they should be called “terra forms” … and it looks great !!!

Which wine?
G -
Cantina di Montalcino Rosso di
I dont know what it is but the taste is good. I served in Sardinia for a short time. Italia is so fantastic….
-
Aaahhh Rosso di Montalcino…the little brother of Brunello di Montalcino…very good choice.
By the way. Great job with tiles, you give new life to Korea. A question: what annoying me it’s an old sin of Falcon saga: the sea that rise on the hill. Do you believe that can be fixed in some way? Or it’s something that doesn’t worth working on?
Again thank you for your job on Korea theater and for Norvegian
Cheers

Hi Tom
Nice work.
I think you should not change the L2 file (elevations etc.) If you want to keep compatibility with e.g. RedDog’s maps. Only new textures are welcome IMHO.
