Lightning's MFDE and 4.33
-
See post #23…This is the only way I got both versions to work reliably. https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?23359-Lightning-s-MFDE-and-4-33&p=338743&viewfull=1#post338743
Appreciate your reply dawgboy, unfortunately it didn’t work for me.
I got it working in fullscreen! MFDE.exe compatibility set to run as admin and disable visual themes and desktop composition.
Nice find Icarus, just started four “dogfight” sessions in succession and the MFD’s worked every time :).

hi,
somebody got a link for me to DL version 0.6.1.0
thx -
Oddly enough the same place you can get 0.6.1.1
Try reading the thread, rather than just expecting people to answer for you. Hint: Post 4 may be of particular interest to you.

What is your native language? Maybe someone will translate things here for you.

This worked for me and now I don’t need to have the work-around for v4.32. Thanks, Icarus.

Could you please tell me which version of your framework runs now ?
I’m having similar issues to you - mfde installs and runs, but takes 15min after click for the options menu to appear. I had to update to .net framework 4.5.1 to install mfde 0.6.1.0 and noticed thereafter that my PC was also very slow to boot - like 5-7 mins slow. So I’m wondering if this slow response from mfde is not a .net framework issue.
Did u also experience the slow boot issue prior to reinstalling?
What version of .net are you using? -
v 0.6.1.1 working here no problems
-
I had same problems. Reinstall 0.6.1.1 and run has administrator. Problem solved
-
I uninstalled my previous version (5 something) and installed 0.6.1.1: flawless. It even remembered the position and type of instruments of the previous version.
-
OK, so after another 4 hours on the keyboard and mouse (when I should’ve been on the stick ), I still cant get this working.
I’ve tried 0.6.0.0 to 0.6.1.1 - all have the same issue - starts up in the task bar, but can’t right click for properties or start. 0.5.7.0 runs, but no mfds, and jittery gauges.
The mfde installation package came with visual c++ runtime libraries - notice that I couldnt install these either - Some error about vcredist_x86.exe having changed since it was initially published. Just wondering if everyone else were installing this (ie. The setup.exe in the install package, or just running the mfde MSI file)?
My last resort will be an OS re-install, but that would mean loosing all my fsx, clod and ROF installs too, so I’m holding off for now.
Questions:
- Did anyone else get the mfde working on Windows 7 Ultimate without SP1?
- if yes, are you using .net framework 4.5.1?
- Again if yes, did u install the visual c++ runtime library package that came the mfde install?
TIA
Edit to add: just figured that when mfde does eventually start up, mfds and gauges are working. The problem is still the long delay (5-7mins?) between clicking on mfde in the task bar, and the options appearing, or selecting a gauge and it actually starting.
So now I need to figure out why it is so slow. As mentioned earlier, boot time is much slower after updating to .net 4.5.1, so I suspect these two are related.

How about setting up a virtual PC and trying if it works there? Might give you a clue wether it’s the hardware or not. Although I doubt that.

same issue than you!
my workaround has been to reinstall OS and now all works fine on Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1 +.net framework 4.5.1 & the visual c++ runtime library package (mfde install)
but I couldnt do on fullscreen! MFDE doesn’t initialize in Fullscreen and all instruments remain fix

Try run as admin.
-
Yeah! That works for me too! Reinstall the old MFD Extractor. Install the new Version 0.6.1.1 and run it in win7 compatible mode and run it as admin.
Thanks for the tipp!!!
-
After using BMS extractor for years (losing 25% of my available FPS in 4.32) I installed 0.6.1.1 the install was easy thanks to a few posts here. (no install/setup instructions)
So with all options on, max trees & grass, medium AA settings MFDs, RWR, DED, PFL, Fuel, Gear Indicate.
I jumped from 32 to 52+. A Big from Me.
PS, The MFD are performing badly, even the digital fuel flow isa slide show.

Hi all. I’ve noticed that someone of you have experienced the same problem that i had before now. Mfde works fine, except for the two MFDs, that works only few times. I’ve solved this problem by enabling into the BMS Config the option for exporting the instruments (i don’t remember the exact tip). Obviously i don’t enable any of the BMS built-in instruments. That allows BMS to run in window mode (except when you enter in simulation) and solved the problem. I hope this will help someone here.

Or turn off BMS exporting and have fullscreen mode ……by running MFDE as admin and get the MFD’s that way.
-
Do not run CDE from inside BMS to extract MFD’s it WILL half your frame rate.
Trust me I am a …… fill in the blank ;0)
But keep it clean or the MOD will be all over you like a rash !!!
