Saitek X52 PRO issue
-
Hello mates,
I’ve recently donwloaded BMS 4.33 and I’ve expended some time doing the profile with the new keystrokes, but when I launched BMS for check it all, it wasn’t working at all. After some uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, SST sofware and even BMS, I thought about to test my old profile in BMS 4.32, and it wasn’t working neither.
Well, after all the evening, I reached the conclusion that the problem is the SST software (not surprised at all, btw). When I load a profile with more than one joystick mode, includiying pinkie modes, BMS does not gets the proper input ingame. At this point, I don’t know what to do… If I only use one mode in my joystick it seems to work, but buttons are not enough for me.
Do you guys know how to solve this?
Kind regards,
-
that’s because when you load a profile in the SST the X52 is already mapped in the 4.33 keymap file…When you assign any button in the SST you get conflict and one key represents 2 values…Forget it buddy…You have to create a keymap from scratch for the X52…I did it yesterday and everything works fine now

Ditch SST and build a DX profile. I have only two functions in SST …. Cursor Slewing and Teamspeak PTT. With DX I get two layers, shifted and unshifted, and it gives me pretty much all the HOTAS functions the RL F-16 has, with a handful of extras for ‘other stuff’.
imho.

Could you post your profile please? I’m sure yours is better than mine. It’s been so long I don’t even know where to begin anymore.

Working on it …. updating for 4.33. Should be done later today/tonight.

Well spent something like 5 hours today working with SST for my X65F, and sometimes presses on keys don’t produce Ctrl, sometimes Alt, and sometimes Shift. It’s not like one problem with not seeing only one particular key press, it’s like different problems at different times. WTH?

Hitman27… I builded a profile using a keymap file as reference. For example, used spacebar for the pickle button on my joystick, so it should work anyway… By other hand, if I used this way on BMS 4.32 before, why it’s not working anymore in that version of BMS?
Bye the other way, I’ve tryied to use Agave_Blue your profile and keymap files, but I got the same problem ingame.
I’m thinking that the problem is on drivers or software, but I’m tired of uninstall and reinstall them.
Thank you both.

…,
What problem? It’s a new keyfile, could have a mistake. Let me know and I’ll check it out.
Also, when I get back to my game PC this weekend, I’ll post a version with the full BMS 4.33 keyfile so users can change the keyfile to whatever they wish using the Setup user interface.

The problem I described in the first post. I’ve found a post on reddit where the user described the same problem. I’ve tried to solve it like he said, but I was unlucky.

OK, so this problem exists 1.) with your keyfile using SST and 2.) with my DX profile (which has VERY limited commands in Saitek SST)?
Do you have other devices connected …. rudders, MFD’s, etc?
In the Saitek Control Panel, check the following: MFD Page, Lower right, “Enable Clutch Mode” is NOT checked.
Are you running Teamspeak when this occurs?
What Saitek/X52 driver version are you using?

Well … I’m glad I found this thread. I have a regular X-52 and just cannot get it to play with BMS 4.33. Older versions of BMS and every other sim (DCS, FSX, P3D, IL-2) work fine.
It looks to me like BMS is simply ignoring the “UP” state of any command set by the SST software. Everything just auto-repeats - even if I program in additional “up” key presses in a macro.
Even if I don’t program a function in SST, I find BMS isn’t flushing the keyboard buffer properly - so (for example) anything more than the tiniest “squirt” of the cannons key results in a long key press - and all your ammo is gone in one hit.
Saitek drivers an SST programming software are a curse - but I’ve tamed the beast for every other sim.
I think I’m going to have to try starting from scratch - with a totally clean .key file and see whether that helps. There may be conflicts even with the “basic” examples provided.

What Saitek/X52 driver version are you using?Agave_Blue, all settings are correct and TS isn’t running (I’m aware of the porblems with TS too). Maybe I explained myself wrong, but there’s no problem with your DX profile, the problem is withing the SST software. I can’t move the radar cursor with the mouse
axis of the HOTAS. I’ve changes the key asignation to the keboard arrows just to check if it would work, but it simply does nothing.By the way, I’ve the latest drivers and software version, and I’ve also installed previous versions with the same result.

Adamski_NZ, maybe your problem is caused by ‘Direct Output’ process. Just go to the Windows Task Manager and kill the process. Give this a try, because I’ve got the same problem using TeamSpeak while flying, it’s a known issue.

Thanks, Shaone … but I don’t get anything of that name (or similar) active anywhere I could see. Maybe it’s a Teamspeak related process . I haven’t run TS with BMS yet.

There is some discussion on what sounds like a very similar issue here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?23773-Saitek-X52PRO-radar-cursor-issues

After some headaches, I finally solved the problem! I cleaned up the registry of any folder related, uninstalled the software and drivers again and I gave a try to the beta drivers for Windows 10. Then it just worked.
I would like to thank you guys for your help. And especially to Agave_Blue for his profile, although I’m gonna change it a little bit (I started to create my own profile with SST software, but felt it unneccesary, so I went back to Agave’s profile).
Regards!

Zaltys, You’re exactly right. I was having troubles wit lots of things until I did away for combination commands for key functions In other words, make TMS up, for example, Home instead of Control+Home

It’s no problem to use key combos with SST - you just have to use advanced commands which is a bit more of a pain to set up initially. If you program the command in both the press and release sections like in the attached pic it’ll work fine. You have to reverse the order in the release section and it should be the actual release of the button here. This works fine for me with my X-55 which uses basically the same SST software as the X-52. If I didn’t follow this approach I was having issues.
