Massive FPS Loss

.under DX9 it was a stutter fest.
Good point! I have always loved BMS because it was smooth running,
-
I think that assumtion is not quite right.
Check it yourself:
Run a dogfight over the ocean, or run a dogfight over those great new tiles we have. Its a huge difference in fps
Also try ITO and you will see that FPS is much higher over the desert then again back in KOREAAgree…FPS jumps up over water maybe 10-12 FPS than being over land.

Ok so basically gotta play 4.32 until old tiles are available for 4.33
I wouldn’t recommend using the old tiles with 4.33: turning off some shaders such as HDR while still using the new tiles will give you the FPS boost and IMHO will look better than shadres on + old tiles.
But more importantly, different tile set will likely cause multiplayer compatibility issues because of the different paths and elevations (AI are affected by them via the .thr and .mea files, which should be replaced too with the tile set).I think that assumtion is not quite right.

Because of that over the ocean FPS is higher. Also KTO’s terrain is newer and more advanced than ITO’s, and uses more tiles, which is is why KTO looks less repetitive. It comes with a cost with the current engine (well worth it, IMHO).
1. The new tiles DO have impact on FPS relative to the old tiles set, not because of the Images themselves, but because of the number of tiles, the relatively higher number of tiles requiring more draw calls and so are more costly.

Yes yes yes…, but ~15 FPS?! That is hard stuff for three times more tiles…

Yeap. The performance penalty of the new tile set was known and discussed internally. It was decided that the visual benefit was well worth it. Older systems need to turn off some GFX options or upgrade.
Please understand it’s been 4 years since BMS 4.32 release so it’s reasonable to expect that better hardware is available (generally). -

Korea Land 47;looking up 55
Korea Sea 70;looking up 83really no difference in fps when flying over Tiles? lol
like i-hawk posted in first post. Tiles eat frames (amount of tiles) -
Does the Balkans 4.33 have the same hi res tiles??

With the TGP on (The absolute worse case scenario FPS wise for me) my FPS was dipping to 35 in the Israel theatre. Korea it wasn’t as bad as that but I still had a FPS hit with the TGP, which makes sense.
But….
Then I turned off Cloud reflections and focus object reflections and my FPS sky rocketed. Everything else is maxed out.Now with the TGP on my fps is 55 in the Israel theatre and over 60 in Korea.
2560x1600
EDIT for accuracy: TGP still borks my FPS. from over 80-90 to 28-36.

did you turn off just the water normal mapping?
-
Just to say… Maxed out the trees and no fps drop.
-

No, I just turned off cloud reflections and focus object reflections.
I left Water normal mapping and water environment mapping checked.
You may also want to try turning off Focus shadows (I left cockpit shadows on). I picked up some FPS disabling that. After turning off just those 3 things I am back in the green. I just played all day and night and had zero FPS problems.

Hello,
I also have problem about FPS so i tried to shut down all things what you said at underline this topic before but i think that all problem is related to Graphic Cards’ brand because some of my friends use Nvidia graphic cards and it cannot cause a dropping FPS,whereas me and the others use a AMD Graphic Cards so we have lost massive FPS around 25 FPS Max(cut off all candy eye features and apply BMS Manual p.53) at the taxi.TGP also effects fps additional to 50% lost…
I am using AMD FX-8350 Eight-core Processor and 8 Gb Ram and AMD R9 Series Graphic card…I hope that it will be solve the next update 4.33 Update 1…:)

I have two Viper Pits, one with nvidia card and the other with AMD. Both have performance issues with 4.33. Both Lower frame rate and some stuttering also on the nvidia.

Just adding feedback for another data point:
Seeing frames drop from around 80 to 30 with TGP and MAV video displayed. All other settings changes are fairly negligible.
Win10 Pro - 64
Intel 3550
8GB
GTX960 -

GTX960Wow, that’s crazy. I only lost 7 - 10. Was around 52 or 53 …. Ended up around 45.

Yeah - its annoying. Ive tried to track it down to an in game/config setting, or an nvidia setting and am having no luck.

GTX960Me too. I go from 120 to 80 with both TGP and WPN page with video. Its supposed to be an Nvidia problem.

It affects all graphics cards, as they are rendering additional screens effectively.

where’s this “relection on clouds” setting? I couldn’t find it neither in the config editor nor in the config file.
Thanks, Uwe
