Saitek X52 is TRASH!!!
-
This stuff doesn’t work properly with windows 10 and Falcon BMS 4.33!!! It’ better to throw it to the TRASH!!! I have the latest drive from that Mad Catz but it has lots of bugs! The radar cursors slew crazy from up/down right/left without any control, the response e late, this dam x52 disconnect many times when as some ‘work’, like turning and using other instrumentes. Resuming, it’s a bullshit stuff that are selling! Before, when I had the windows 8.1 this stuff worked without problems when I played 4.32. Now? With 4.32 and 4.33, same shit! Garbage is the destiny of this shit!

Calm down, just get beta drivers from madcat for win10 and set keys in game. Will work fine

well…
X52 works very well with Windows 8.1.
now does not work with Windows 10And you blame X52 ?
Strange reasoning

Excellent Rant!!!
Hang in there, you’ll figure it out.

a well, right now you are really stuck with the bad choices
Saitek: Crappy software and crappy driver support (also expensive if you look at the X65F)
CH Products: Butt ugly and expensive
Thrustmaster Cougar: Crappy mechanical engineering (extremely expensive with Mods to fix it. merely expensive if left in stock configuration), Also not great software support for Win10.
Maybe with the Warthog they fixed most issues of the cougar. No personal experience with that. Right now it might be the best choice. -

Right now it might be the best choice.Don’t forget that Saitek also has crappy mechanical/parts in their hardware. I’ve had quite a bit of hardware fail that were Saitek, but the straw that took the camel’s back for me was a bad keyboard that they refused to replace under good faith (out of warranty) after I found out it was a part of a bad batch that had issues with ghosting keys.
I’m using CH throttle and stick, Corsair keyboard, and Slaw Device pedals. Far cry from X52, Saitek combat pedals, and saitek cyborg keyboard. I refuse to own another Saitek device ever again.

along the same lines as this post, I have the X52 normal and i have been able to map all buttons in game, but i am wondering…is there a way to use the pinky key without having to use the SST software? I also have the issue where it blinks on and off while in game and so that causes it to recalibrate where ever the stick was, which then makes it way out of wack.
So i just turned off the profile and everything works fine except i no longer get the use of my pinky as a shift. Is that only possible if you are running a profile?
EDIT:after reading this post
Calm down, just get beta drivers from madcat for win10 and set keys in game. Will work fine.I actully went out and got those drivers u spoke of and all be damn but i was able to do a whole flight with out my stick losing calibration. Funny it even made some of the buttons in the sst work that were not working before.
so thank you for the post. i didnt know they had any drivers out yet. -

Yes. Use DX commands and use SimHotasPinkyShift command. I recommend ditching the SST software to the extent possible. Almost completely unnecessary.
See my X52 Pro profile to use as an example. https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?23661-Flounder-s-X52-Pro-Keyfile-DX-Profile-for-BMS-4-33

I was also ready and willing to give up on the X52 and its calibration/configuration issues until I stumbled upon this guide:
https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/2qjsw4/psa_saitek_x52_install_problem_solved/
I haven’t had a single hitch ever since (even with the SST programming utility that seems to be the root cause of several of the problems associated with the X52).
Results may vary, but I’d recommend you give this guide a shot and report back before getting rid of your X52.

I agree, you should throw it… but tell me where you’ll do XD

Funny thing is, the X52 installation instructions explicitly say not to plug the joystick in until prompted.
Though I guess with X52 being as old as it is, there are probably quite a few around with no manual these days. -
Believe it or not, latest madcatz is not compatible with windows 10, even if it pretends to be (unplug the x52 and look what happens…). you have to use a combination of latest 6.x driver (6.x, not 7.x!) and 7.0.17 SST and all will work flawlessly.
Of course you have to do a fresh install of both, so you have to uninstall completely your driver and sst, delete the programmable hotkey enumerators in device manager belongin to x52 and cleaning the voices in the registry that the aforementioned post on reddit named.
I found this by myself, trying several combinations of driver and sst after upgrading to windows 10, and shared on Elite Dangerous forum, where people was doing similar rants. All of them solved their issue.

:shock: Where can I found those old drivers?

:shock: Where can I found those old drivers?
6.x drivers (if you have 64-bit OS): ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/full/Saitek_X52_Flight_Controller_SD6_64.exe
6.x drivers (if you have 32-bit OS): ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/full/Saitek_X52_Flight_Controller_SD6_32.exeSST 7.0.17.2 (if you have 64-bit OS): ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/full/Smart_Technology_7_0_17_2_64bi.exe
SST 7.0.17.2 (if you have 32-bit OS): ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/full/Smart_Technology_7_0_17_2_32bi.exe6.x driver + SST 7.0.17.2 + Windows 10 = win/win combination.
Latest driver (declared compatible with Win 10) + latest SST (declared compatible with Win 10 as well) + Windows 10 = epic fail (by Madcatz) and several epic BSODs (for us)

Thank you, I’ll give it a try!
My only issue with the latest drivers was when moving hard the stick to the right, the display goes for a second off and the throttle starts to recaliber again… -

That is the what I did, followed up with some config copy/pasting……and it worked.

When it loses calibration, you should in fact notice that the leds blink, as if it loses power for a fraction of second

Yeah, Saruman, I use a self-powered usb-hub. Few minutes ago I’ve finished the procedure described here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/2qjsw4/psa_saitek_x52_install_problem_solved/
but no joy.
I start to think that there’s some hardware problem inside the stick, tomorrow I’ll dismount it -
Give a try to that driver/sst combo before using the screwdriver, if you use Win 10
