Is MH in the U.S. or Europe?
If in U.S. maybe I can help out…
Brazil has heavy import duties, one of our group tried to send Him a vid card (from the US or Canada, cant remember which), and the local import duties would have meant Metel would have had to pay a near new price for the secondhand card to get it out of customs.
We had to give up.But His biggest problem is the Display, He works hard but Electronics are burdened with “duties” (tax) there.
Most of us have it easy.

I PM’d MH about a problem with his F-22 installation and he answered right away, solved my problem and was genuinely happy to help…
That’s unfortunate he has obsolete hardware, hope he gets it resolved soon.
I’ve got several used monitors and would donate one of them for the MH modernization project…
The F-22 is so close to being finished…dfang

I have two Eizos I would happily donate here, do these customs duties and taxes apply regardless of how old the hardware is? Most regimes apply a (lower) flat tax or tariff on stuff that’s just too old. Good thing about Eizos is even after 20.000 hours and 15 years they still beat 95% of current displays any day of the week.
Have no comment or educated idea about the thread in general, as far as I see the man’s work speaks for itself and he is in no need to justify himself in any way shape or form. All I can say is thanks for the contribution.

Perhaps somebody could pm his Paypal address so all of us could donate a few USD/Euro/AUX for conversion into his local currency.

Was thinking the same thing Chuckles, Brazil is on the PayPal list.

I feel things tend to become even more complicated when there is money involved…I really don’t know what the original issue has been and don’t need to know but I wonder if cash donations is the right way to go.
I now run away and stop talking about something I don’t really know anything about…

EDIT: I had a few message exchange with Metalhead and he was very helpful and professional

I’m up for donating. I wish the taxes weren’t so heavy. I would send a screen and vid card.
-
I can donate too

Since we’re talking about Metal Head, how come his F-22 pit wasn’t integrated into 4.33? I was a bit surprised by that.

BTW, I am in Brazil Toonces, thanks for asking….
To all involved on this thread: THANK YOU very much, yes, I appreciate it, and am happy to see many people here appreciate too my work as well as my friendship…
I am with out an internet connection at home due to being unemployed for three months, and now I am working again, and soon I hope, I will get the internet back at home.
About the donations, Thank you all. I will accept it very humbly if you manage to send it to me… A problem though… I do not have a credit card for now, but I am about to get one, soon, so, I will have as well an account on paypal. I only need a better GPU, and a monitor, despite a monitor, I can wait, not really needed, the crt 15 works yet… lol.
Something I hate, and I want to say some words about: Brazil is not a fair country, the taxes are very abusive, in all matters, everything is expensive here, so it is all difficult to buy (except the riches, they can)…
To Shadow: I did not really understand the point of bring out again Nizmo’s subject… Unless I am missing something due to being out of BMS community for some time… But not a problem for me at all… And Thank you for being standing up in my name here… God bless you my friend… I will be back soon on 801st TS in order to bother you with some doubts ( many doubts BTW) lol…
Well, about sending stuff to Brazil: Used products, which would be very good for me and for anyone interested in donate stuff, is forbidden by the Brazilian law… Well at least we are forbidden to buy used stuff…
products which are new on the box, are not forbidden to buy, or be donated, but the person who gets the donation or buy the product, will be charged with 60% of the product price plus the shipping… so 1000 for example would be 1600+ shipping + local taxes = 1800 ± maybe more than that…
So I ask for the people who are intended to donate, be careful before sending stuff to this country.
Thank you to all, from the bottom of my heart (deep of my heart) I do not know…
Best Regards Metalhead -
Im sorry If I have caused and embarrassment but a thread was posted which grouped your name with the other guy. The Thread was closed before I could comment there. This thread got a bit carried away.
