Unable to fly on new Computer
-
Hello,
I just bought a new PC. I installed BMS 4.33 on it but it doesent work.
The menu works, every items work except “launch” which leads to “BMS has stopped working”…
I am using windows 10 64 bits, GPU is GTX 980 and every drivers are up to date.
I have been flying on BMS for a long time, actually since the beginning of the story. Even before with the genuine game, and I’ve known many bugs, and passed through. But this time I’m stuck.
After many years I don’t want this to be the end of my BMS story. If anyone could help I would be grateful.
thanksHere is the crashlog.txt.

Hey Cobra,
I am having the exact same issue (see post entitled "BMS half working). so far no solution at all… -
Hey Swarthy,
not really the exact same problem as I can’t even enter the 2D world. -
Sorry I’m not sure what you mean by 2D world.
What I read is :The menu works, every items work except “launch” which leads to “BMS has stopped working”… which is what happens to me also…except I have to force the game to stop.
everything works for me also (menu / items), except that I can t get to the part where the screen is loading, with the F-16 picture…
-
I mean that I can’t enter the UI, the game. I only have Cockpit Display Extraction, Configuration, IVC Server, IVC Client, Cockpit Editor,… Those work, but not “Launch”

Cobra,
try that and report back, please.

This begins with a windows 10 update, running in windowed mode i can enter in 3d world.

UNBELIEVABLE !! It works. I can’t believe I’ve been looking so far for hours…
Thanks a lot Lazystone, you saved my week-end. One more thing I know about BMS now. -
I’m glad to see it works for you, … enjoy your weekend.

What voodoo is this? Any idea?
Dunno, but voodoo might explain it. …
One thing for sure, … if you got a particlesystem.cpp error in the first lines of your chraslog,
then this “fix” has helped some, … and still does.https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?21847-BMS-Crashing-repeatedly-when-selecting-quot-Commit-quot-to-start-a-mission-Please-help/page2&highlight=Won%27t+start+applied
… start reading from post #19 …Cheers,

Hi,
I have same problems here, not able to get 4.33 running on my homecockpit pc… same problems as mentioned in post one, except I´m running Win7 64bit. I tried everything I read here, reinstalled, plugged in ear phones ( speakers are always plugged in, tried without them)
run installation and .exe as admin, installed on drive C:, reinstalled and installed on E:- NOTHING helps! As far as I can see in the Log.txt file, my programm is searching for a force feedback stick?? I use TM Warthog throttle and stick. Any help would be VERY appreciated!!
Falcon 4.32 runs without any problems, and I´m quite sure, that 4.33 runs good for one or two times on this PC. I tried on another PC, and have NO problems there… -
I would as first unplug HOTAS etc. and try 4.33 again.
Maybe you’ve a corrupted .key file loaded.Do you have a crashlog?
… please post in CODE tags.Cheers,

Hi lazystone,
thanks a lot for your incredibly quick reply!! But after searching for weeks for a solution, I found it some minutes before in another post… simply too many devices with axis connected !! I have 6 Bodnar ButtonBoxes and 3 Symproject Boards connected- together with the two
devices of my Warthog, seems to be too much for the new falcon… I disconnect 3 of them and now it works!! I simply hope, that the devs will solve that problem- as said falcon 4.32 don´t have any problems with that! To get my cockpit completed as I like, I even have to install
some more devices!
It´s not only for Falcon, but for the DCS birds as well- my “eierlegende wollmilchsau” as I call it in german…:D
Thanks again for your help!!For everyone having the same problems: I got my (hopefully not final!) solution by this post:
Will try to post my config there asap, to help the devs, if possible….

Uhmm, if it has worked on this PC and workes on another PC, then it’s still a BMS relateted error?
I guess it’s more a PC related (driver/config/USB/DX ???) problem then.
I hope you’ll get your problems solved, good luck.

No, on the second PC (bureau) its only Falcon 4.33 with a joystick/throttle combination - no cockpit setup there. Just for basic testings. Absolutely not comparable to the Cockpit-setup of my other PC…
Thanks a lot again for your help, as I read, this seems to be a known problem, they will solve with the next patch, hopefully…

What voodoo is this? Any idea?
No idea, it looks to me like a corruption of some sort in the PS.ini file…
-
-
-
HaHA… I would gladly look at it, but only if I could reproduce it locally
The fact that the PS loading fails simply suggests that the PS.ini is corrupted, I’m sure that restoring the PS.ini at THAT point where a guy has such corruption would have solved the crash in same way… I have no idea how plugging the headsets has anything to do with anything here.
The main question is why PS.ini gets corrupted (seen it happens a lot of times in the past myself, but only when I used to mess with it).
And… although what people like to believe sometimes, there is no Voodoo in SW, it’s always us the humans who are responsible to what the machine tries to do with the bits
