So frustrating! I was just about to buy the Steam version of Falcon 4 and download the BMS 4.33 mod and luckily came here first to find out that it was unavailable. I certainly hope that this issue with the new purchaser is resolved soon. It would be a great shame for this great game to die. Of course if the new purchaser is The Fighter Collection, the publisher of the DCS games, chances are F4 will never resurface being as it is such a competitor to their own games. Can only hope this is not the case.

Yep especially given the fact that the steam version without bms is in unuseable state

IBTL, but is it to the point BMS team that all these people coming here saying "I bought/buying Falcon from Steam/GOG and now I can’t download 4.33 "
Would it help to have these people email the IP owner so that they know how much 4.33 is driving sales? Or is it still too sensitive/far along for that to make a difference? -
-
As noted here discussions are underway. No need for additional input.
Hehe, yeah I know, but just checking I am impressed how many we have had coming in saying that though.
-
I’m not meaning to add to unecessary debate or input, nor to sound like a broken record here.
I own F4:AF, still play often, and regard it as the best combat flight sim I’ve ever played, indeed one of the best all-round games ever made. I came a little late to the party, having never owned or played original F4. I now have a PC that would do BMS justice, and quite frankly, salivate at the prospect.
Hence, while it’s great that F4 has become available through GOG/ Steam, I won’t buy it unless BMS becomes available again, as standalone original alone would be a backwards step from AF. Allow BMS, and it would be an insta-buy.
I post this merely in the hope that the new owners of F4 read this forum, and that making BMS available again will earn them at least one new sale

Totally agree, I have DCS World, and a lot of the people who fly there speak highly of BMS, hence my interest, would be a shame if I cannot experience it myself !!

DCS is fun and all, but BMS is the gold standard both in avionics (for the F-16C; not so much on other jets) and having a dynamic campaign (Kevin Klemmick noted that he probably would’ve never tried tackling it had he known how difficult it was). There’s a reason it’s endured for 17 years. I’ve had it since it came out. It’s been interesting to see how it’s evolved over the years.

That’s pretty amusing, because there’s no lack of hatred around here for DCS for some reason. If only we lived in a world where the majority of people could say “BMS is great for F-16s, just as DCS is great for A-10s.”

You say that but go ahead and try to have this debate on the ED forums and see what happens….

What debate, exactly? Is BMS better modeled for the A-10 than DCS? No, and nobody is going to say it is. Is BMS a better F-16 sim than DCS? Yes, and nobody’s going to suggest otherwise. Both communities are toxic in trying to compare two flight sims that - other than being about planes, have very little in common, yet people on both sites constantly argue about which is ‘better.’ It’s ridiculous.
-
indeed
Some people not having been ever close to a F-35 (or any other of their own favourite) can say it’s the best aircraft ever in the world.
no wonder some ppl using only BMS or using only DCS will swear theirs is the best in the worldIt takes a “mature” user of both (sim and communities) to have an unbiased opinion about this.
All the other opinions are simply not objectiveAnd yet, that mature opinion might be different from one mature user to another.
Whatever the difference, these opinions are worth respecting. So stop comparing for the benefit of having the last word. Enjoy whichever you prefer, or both - and ignore these comparisons. Make your own and support both

I think we should think about an open source Falcon V. It would take time to reach a level where BMS 4.33 is right now but finally in a couple of years we would not have every once in a while to be blocked because some company has bought legally the license. I understand, it is business but this community is damaged or slowed down by this kind of situation while when we have an open source system (Like a kind of gnu simulator), we would be in our own dimension.

Well, I think members should refrain from making comments about the Falcon development and legal issues. Please let the BMS team handle the issue and wait patiently. Enough threads are closed because of this. Just show a little confidence in the BMS team.

I totally agree.
I believe Mark and the BMS team will be able to address this.
After all, they were able to sidestep an old “Cease and Desist” order with 4.32…or so I was told.
I have confidence that they will resolve this Title issue also.Regards,

As well they should.
