HUD only tool

Many THX ! :bdance::bdance: Falcas, always on top !

Hi Falcas, many thanks 4 this tool! May I suggest an additional feature, if possible of course? Since I have the rl hud, and want to be able quickly and “officially” to “split” the front outside environment display (e.g. to an projector or big monitor), from the actual hud instrumentation, would it be possible to also include in your tool an option for completely removing the hud instrumentation? That way through your tool we could have the front outside environment display to the projector -part, while through Falcon BMS Display Extractor or Lighting tools we can drive the hud to an extra monitor, projecting it to a rl hud.

I have a full pit but never even of starting to create a working HUD.
Its pretty simple, you will never be able to correctly align the HUD on your screen.
The result will be that you won’t be able to use the HUD for targeting.
This is also one of the reasons real simulators have the HUD on the screen itself. But I do know that there are people out there building pits, for building pits.
So if you have a “trick” to remove the HUD from the screen, post it hereGr Falcas

Not true, at least for all trainer. The one in Leeuwarden i tried years ago had/has a real working HUD.

IIRC there were some tests from a couple of VPits users that proved that it is actually possible to align the HUD display and the environment projection in a background screen or projector. The published videos showed e.g. a2a targeting box correctly aligned with the target plane in the background. Moreover in my tests some years ago using the real Viper HUD and underneath optics and a background projector, it was absolutely feasible to implement such a solution in the cockpit.
BTW until a specific year most real Viper simulators up to block 3x where using real HUD optics and not the screen projection solution, that was implemented in the later sim blocks and recent years in order to help reduce the total cost of the sim. I can provide you evidence from my flights with HAF Block 30 and Block 50 real simulators, as and from HAF Mirage-2000EGM that have a real working HUD.
So, my request was not to analyse if such an implementation is useful for an end-user, but rather if you can implement this to your great software adding a checkbox to remove the HUD instrumentation display from the background environment. Pleeeaasee?

As my pit and the screen is not fixed, so it can be transported (FsWeekend for example)
This is not an option at all. Just having the box around a point is not good enough.
But if it it is good enough for you, thats nice.I got some RL sim time as well

I understood you there
But the thing is… I wouldn’t know how to remove the HUD from the HUD only screen. Never tried it.Gr Falcas

Little update,
Added a “GO ALL” button.

As the registry entry for 4.33U1 messed with the tools finding the BMS installation, I redid the reading code for this.
So a new version for all the tools will be released and this is the update for HUDonly.See first post for the update.

@Nuno:
Another great tool for the community! Thank you Falcas
+1, and thanks a lot from me too.
With best regards,

Hi Arty:
I probably already know the answer. But in any event here goes anyway. Is it possible to get TIR movement in HUD Only view rather that just a forward looking static view? -
I just don’t know.
Falcas and the guys using it can answer.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

Hi MikeMadMax, why exactly do you need to move HUDOnly view with TIR?
G -
formation flying comes to mind
you can’t really fly MP without the TIRTactical formation with no TIR or any head tracking device? Thanks but no thanks
I’m a pit builder but the fact that there is no TIR working in this view makes it a big no go for me -
Mmmm…I don’t agree with you RD. I mean. I’m using Track IR in my pit but I use 3D empy cockpit view ( all live long ) and use HUDOnly as a snap, very close- up point of view ( thinking to strafe ). So have this view as still view it’s a plus ( for me of course ). The tool from Falcas it’s a great help to place in right position in THE PIT. ( especially if I can’t raise up or lower down the seat ).
-
case in point.
You use the hud only only for snap, it’s not your main viewIf that works for you, perfect. My point was that you can’t really fly Mp without TIR and there fore you can’t only use this view alone.
Nonewhistanding Falcas great tools about this hud only view -

To answer your Q… No, you can not move the HUD only screen with your TIR. Its a static view.
If you want something like this, look for the Empty cockpit shell keystroke. It removes the 3D cockpit for the F-16. What remains is the model outside the cockpit, like the nose and the tail.
The canopy including the rail and the HUD.
Below the the canopy rail its all black so you are not able to look below you.
You can see it in most of the youtube clips I made.Gr Falcas

Hi all and thanks for your input. I’m using a multiple monitor setup. Short of a bells and whistles pit with all the actual switches and buttons (unlike Falcas’ beautiful pit or ICE’s great glass TS pit), I’ve constructed a modest pit where I’ve tried to replicate a basic panel layout using YAME along with HELIOS (that is before HELIOS crapped out on me). See below. I just thought it would be cool to have a secondary and other monitors (if you’ve got em) display panels while the primary monitor captures a HUD ONLY (and AOA and NWS rails) with dynamic TIR panning without rendering the 3D cockpit. I know its not capable right now but it would be great if someone thought about implementing this feature. If I had the skill sets, I’d be on it. In addition to this post, has anyone got a real fix for a HELIOS Stopped Working notification? I was running HELIOS without incident until about a month ago when I receive the Stopped Working message.
Thanks again,

Hi Falcas:
Will you direct me to your You Tube videos. I can’t seem to find them.
Thanks,
Mike Mad Max -
Hey,
I am not sure if you look for a specific one but here is a link. Al the other vids posted you can find in the same channel.
And wow… this one is a vid from 2012.
