4.33 HUD Mod v.3

What is the main difference with the original one? (some are talking about edges? … but I do not understand.)
Same, and that he should do with the lod editor?

Hello Dee-Jay!
Well, I made a short video to show the differenceBMS 4.33:
Real HUD:

Great!
This is understandable.
Tavor thank you

I can confirm that the BMS stock HUD looks exactly like in that video. Do you use any mods, Dee-Jay?

This is why I’ve suppressed my post … maybe yes, and maybe even Tavor .dds which I might have installed rapidly without testing and without remembering …
EDIT: But since (and this is 100% sure) I didn’t made any lod modification and just copied the .dds, I wonder, why the need or editorial for this mod? What is changing in shapes?

3D HUD Glass model from Block 30 has very good texture mapping (I believe this 3D model from 4.32). Original BMS 4.33 3D HUD Glass model has different texture mapping. I simply replaced 3D HUD Glass model
Anyway, just enjoy BMS (Thanks to the BMS DEV team) and anybody free to use this mod with the ANY BMS Theater.
P.S. HUD mod looks great because I add texture mods from FanOfBMS432 and gizemkar (HUD and Projector Glass textures).
A huge special thanks and credits to them!!! -
Oky, thank you for explanations Tavor.
-
The lack of the edge on the HUD is likely a screw up on my part when adding the 2 seater cockpits and the HMCS canopies.
The HUD edges are all mapped to the bottom left pixel on the texture map for some reason. I will look into correcting this.
Thanks for finding the problem and offering a solution Tavor.
-
With this mod, you really feel like a hud before us.
Bravo! Tavor

The first man who found out Block 30 HUD solution was crazyTom
CrazyTom, Thank you very much !!! -

I like the new HUD model, but find the canopy reflections too feint.
-
YOu could combine the new HUDs by Tavor with a relfection to your liking in gimp.
You open the 8005.dds e.g., mark the lower right rectangular area. Open another 8005.dds with a “better” reflection area (reflection is always in the lower right bigass rectangle of the 8005.dds-copy its reflection area exactly into your target 8005.dds lower right part.
Save as dds (export as:…) and save, mae sure to generate Mipmaps…Done in 5 minutes.
Somewhere in this thread I offered alternative 8005.dds files including better reflections.

Anyway I am an IL-2 man and don’t intend to spend any more time modding my BMS installs with these very minor edits of mine. -
Sorry for typos!
BTW I like the reflection areas of gizemkar’s mod:

As good as it gets, add Tavor’s new work and you are done.
Let us not forget FanOfBMS432 started all this with his mods.
BTW Tavor, I like your work and persistance! You finally showed me lazy dumbnut where the IAF F-16D HUD/Canopy dds is located.
I may be an IL-2 man but I like HUD/reflection mods. No matter if it is an F-16, F-86… P-51B,C .PS:
If I get his very clear insctructions correctly, Tavor’s mod allows you to choose any 8005/8026/4279(IAF).dds and with his model fix still have the solid HUD. Good job mate! -
I installed Tavor’s HUD mod and observed the feint canopy reflections. Copying different 8005.dds files after the HUD mod appeared to make no difference in the reflections. I could not understand why. Maybe gimp is the solution.
-
Habu: Maybe check my “readme” again:
If you use e.g. one of “mine” 8005.dds instead of the one Tavor here made so nicely, or one of gizemkar’s, you definately get more reflection. Other thing you can do is actually modify Tavor’s copying other parts in.-Then you get his upper HUD colour e.g. and more reflection.
Really also a good exercise in learning to work with gimp e.g. -

Hello, Habu!
Don`t forget to play with Alpha Channel!
My small HUD texture area, the bottom left, has 2 different Alpha channels. One for HUD Glass and another for HUD edge. Only Alpha channel makes “transparency”. For the Alpha Channel - Black color gives 100% transparency, White color - 0% transparency.
For the best transparency effect, use Gray color for Alpha Channel!!!
Dark Gray more transparent effect, Light Gray less transparency.
This mean, if you put Light Gray Alpha Channel over reflection texture area (not over the whole dds texture) you will see “bright” reflection, because less transparent effect makes reflection more visible. Try different Gray colors and you will find what you need.
Best Regards,

Nice mod Tavor, but i cant seem to get it working on my install. I’m running U1, Israel 1.01, so i’m only concerned with the iaf jets. I have followed the instructions, still the hud looks as before. Is it the KoreanObj.hdr i edit with the Lod editor? Just checking as thats what i have been doing, thanks for any help
EDIT Got it working, forgot the other theater has it’s own obj files, doh.
Thanks, nice little detail
