How to Add ILS to an existing airbase
-
is it possible to add ILS to an existing airbase? I’ve been looking at some of the material on creating an airbase in this forum but haven’t really found much. Thanks.

Hi there buddy.
Yes you can. Just find the file “stations+ils.dat” that is into the subfolder …\Falcon BMS 4.33_U1\Data\Campaign\Save for the default theater of Korea, or into the …\Falcon BMS 4.33_U1\Data\Add-On Israel\campaign for the extra add on Israel theater, or with the same method into …\Falcon BMS 4.33_U1\Data\Add-On Balkans\Campaign for the extra Balkans theater.
Then open that file with Notepad and scroll down until to see the name of your desired airport that you want to add an ILS frequency.
Be sure to be an airport/airbase and NOT an airstrip, because airstrips can’t have a working ILS until now at least.
When you find the airport, check its below line of its name, it has 12 data with one space between them.
The last 4 are for ILS frequencies. If you have an airport with 4 runways, all the 4 last data “slots” are in use, each one of them for a specific runway. If you have an airport with 2 runways, only the first 2 data “slots” are in use, the 2 at the start, means after them they follow another 2 slots.
With trial and error you can very easily spot the correct slot for your runway. Simply replace the 0 with the desired ILS frequency and save the file from Notepad.
As an example, take a look at the below lines that are from Israel theater of the PRINCE SULTAN BIN ABDULAZIZ airbase in Saudi Arabia that has 2 runways:PRINCE SULTAN BIN ABDULAZIZ
356 104 X 999 130 1 0 125900 10950 11190 0 0
You can see that it has ILS of 109.50 in RWY 20 and ILS of 111.90 in RWY 02. Noticed that you must NOT add the “.”!
Last replace the first number (in previous example the “356”) with the proper one that is the CampID number of the specific objective that is the airport in your theater.
I hope to help you ;).

With trial and error
There is actually a way to know which is which without trial and error.

Gee, RD. Care to elaborate?

Yeah, I would if I 'd remember exactly,
I’m looking for the info.
Patience It’s relevant to airbase type. The structure is always the same. I did a document about that a decade ago which is still valid. I just need to find it back -

Of course mate ;).
I just reply to a guy that seemed to not have the proper knowledge…
I also know the correct way, for example via Terrain Editor.
