FPS low

How does one get into the advanced options to turn off such effects as the Jet exhaust heat shimmer and the latter such as you posted… I gotta dive deeper into the settings of F4
I saw the Advanced Tab under the graphics menu… but I didn’t see any of those options to deselect.
-
Welp… serve it up as me being a exhausted idiot last night to graze over it on the first menu you deal with when booting up F4BMS LOL.
Thanks a lot guys ! Now to tweak around with it when I get off of work. At least F4 doesn’t take a bit to boot up… unlike FSX lol
-
I didn’t notice tons of difference. There are still shadows from the ICP extension and such with it off IIRC.
Placebo effect? Leave me be, I’m pain free.
Ok, I tried it and see the difference. With the cockpit shadows on you do get shadows from things like the ACES II “horns” or from the other side of the cockpit in knife edge, etc. You still get a difference in lightning levels on parts of the cockpit if it is off but not true shadows. However on my system, the cockpit shadows seem kinda low res.

No problem, glad we could help. It is a little extra step than other sims.

Nothing can be an extra step vs tweaking FSX to run right on your Sim Rig… now that was hell in a handbasket

Test
FPS TE at approximately 8:53 -
I recommend using the in-sim counter which is more accurate, depending on your .key file the key combo is ctrl+z then r or alt+c then f
-
Test
FPS TE at approximately 8:53Second last flight in the list, its a single ship, Pre-Plan just sit where it spawns,
I cant get a good reading at the moment as I setup crossfire for Fallout 4 and Falcon doesn’t like it at all.

So I deactivated Far rain, Jet heat, and a few others, And Activated Low Res Clouds and reduced particles and the such… I was sitting at moderate 20 FPS parked on an airfield in the first training mission (Ground Ops). Im going to test a little bit more tho. Not sure how much of a drop I would expect in fps during combat. But that’s still a ways out since I have plenty to learn still X.X lol.
I was almost half tempted to pick up the most realistic F-16 you can get for FSX to train myself a bit better, but then that would be a $22 dollar purchase to train myself for Falcon BMS. -

While has been a lot of years since I tried an FS F-16, I doubt it will be much help since it doesn’t do any of the avionics.

My gpu is gtx950m,the fps is higher than yours. Are you sure the game running in R9 380?

If there is a hardware bottle neck it isn’t the video card, it is the CPU. While Falcon does do some 2 core multi-threading, it likes strong single cores. The current batch of AMD Fx processors aren’t the best for Falcon. I had a Fx-4350, 6300, and 8350 and when I got my I5 4690K my frames jumped up a lot. I could also make the case that despite the 6300 being the traditional best bang for buck AMD CPU, in BMS the 4350 was actually better in my tests.
-
Look you just cant beat a good i5, and I’m a AMD fan for many years but 3/4 years ago they dropped their prices as they also ramped up performance.
and AMD got left behind.Last AMD i had was th Pii x4 940 @ 3.8GHz and before that I had a great run out of it’s little bro Pii x3 720 2.8GHz @ 3.6GHz. At the time it was a great Falcon rig.
My son is still running the 720 but about to upgrade and my Grandson has the 940 playing Arma.

hello then as I understand of this simulator greatly it affects the cpu rather than the video card I assume that the passage of a more high -level video card does not produce significant improvements, or it’s me I’m too picky ?
-
take a look at my sig are my specs… does it answer?

No good having one without the other.

While has been a lot of years since I tried an FS F-16, I doubt it will be much help since it doesn’t do any of the avionics.
The Aerosoft F-16 fully simulates the aircraft/avionics from startup to shutdown and have to go by checklist… I think the only thing it doesn’t simulate is AtG Radar Tracking/Locking in FSX. They did program radar tracking and target locking on airborne targets.
I got my F-16 fully powered up and ready to taxi to the active on the ground ops training. But for some reason when I would try to contact Tower to pull the chocks and request taxi, I would get nothing back… My guess is that I wasn’t tuned to the appropriate Comms Frequency.

Looking at the manual, I would still stick by my previous comment for the most part. If you want an F-16 for FSX it is still probably your best option, but there is going to be a lot more out there that it does it model. The amount of stuff ICP doesn’t do alone is a good example.
Yeah probably the wrong freq. I would try a run real quick in instant action to see the fps.
-
Yea… from the reviews on the Aerosoft variant, the manual is very limited. Funny thing is that a couple of the reviewers referred people to the F4.0 Manual to fully understand how to fly/operate the F-16, which includes the A, AM, and C variants.
I will have to test FPS in instant action tonight… But its going to be hard to pull me away with the release of Elite Dangerous Horizons on X1. lol

hello I wanted to update you on the changes to the configuration
OFF “Jet Heat Exhaust”
ON “Low Resolution for Clouds”
ON “Reduced Particle System”
OFF “Cockpit Shadows”
OFF “Focus Shadows”
OFF “Cloud Reflections”
OFF “Focus Object Reflections”with TGP and active WPN there is not been a big improvement
now I think I have bitterly to a low graphics
excuse me I’m too picky ?
-
Turn off canopy reflections.
What resolution are you using ?
PIP or picture in a picture is very demanding for any system, and if those pics were taken in a new campaign (Day 1 KTO) then don’t expect to much as there is a lot going on that the CPU must deal with.
