Reorient Microstick Axis
-
I doubt it would be plug and play, and a thorough reading of the page linked explains the process in detail, which is just replacing the physical cursor grip.
Regarding the switched x and y axes, which way around do you have them now? Do you move your thumb up or fore to increase the range the cursors are over?
Fore (towards speed brake switch) to move the cursors up, up to move left, etc.

Having modded one TQS with a Bodner board, rewiring the Microstick to it, and knowing what I do about the circuit, I’ve been studying these -

You need to do a little surgery on them, but their I/O wiring is the same as the Microstick…so all I need do is to find a mating connector and solder in place to get a “drop in” replacement for the Microstick. Not difficult…the harder part may be attaching the cursor knob to the nub. I may look around a bit more and be able to find other examples which may be better suited for what I want to do, but for now I can find and get these…in the worst case I suppose I could scrap a keyboard.
I have my cursor controller set up so that up is fwd (on the display), dwn is back, aft is left, and fwd is right. Seems like the “natural” way to do it, but I guess I haven’t really checked it against the book…at least I can’t recall doing so…but it’s easy enough to change should I want to.

So apparently I too have my cursor set up that way. I just tried it the way Fox3TwoShip suggests, and I can tell that is going to be a pain of a habit to correct!

…I too am going to be really upset if I should find the book tells me I should be doing it some other way!

Btw, my answer would be if you’re looking at the throttle in AB. So yes fore (towards the SPD BRK and El Strobe) should be up. Up vertically should be to the left.

Yeah, thats how I have it set up - now. Increasing range by moving towards the SPD BRK switch. Turns out that like that, I dont need to invert the X axis anymore, either.
-
…that’s not how I have it…the way I’m set up moving toward the SPD BRK switch moves me cursor right; moving up increases range, moving down decreases range.
This is about to suck…
-
It really does. Takes a while to relearn muscle memory it seems!
-
Yup. People severely under estimate the impact of muscle memory and habit. Very, VERY, VERY important considerations for RW trainers. Way more so than visuals, really.
-
Evidently, it’s not going to suck…because I have cursor control set up per the -1.
-
Yeah, because the BMS dash one is a fantastic reference.
The -34 I took a look at is so helpful in this area:
1.4.2.3.6.1 The cursor on the SOI display is slewed by tilting the CURSOR/ENABLE switch.
That clears up a lot!

Hi.
Does anybody know for sure, in what direction the rl cursor moves corresponding to throttle control? Is it now cursor up / increase Radar range when pushing throttle cursor slew control forward ( direction of speed brake switch) or upwards to cursor enable lettering? I’m rewiring my old Thrustmaster TQS with bodnarboard and want program my PS4 thumbstick as real as possible.

Thanks for help. Two more questions for the experts:
I searched Google for a picture of the Block 50/52 throttle grip with night vision blackout switch visible and found only some drawings. Could anybody upload a picture here if available? The new cursor slew control described as Reverse China Hat looks similar to PlayStation thumbsticks. Does it even move like a thumstick regarding throw angles an so on? -
Foxmike;
It’s hard to find such a picture Imagine where the Hobo switch is and how hard it is to photograph it in the pit
Your only hope is that a pitbuilder has one on a disassembled one and can make pictures of it
