About callbacks and throttle position on the HUD.
-
I’d like to ask if there’s anybody who can tell what (if any) callback is related to the pressing the “CZ” button (in TGP screen it’s button 4 on right edge). I’d like to map it to the shifted button on my G940, but I don’t even know what is actualy full name of this function so I don’t know what to look for in documentation.
And second question, as my throttle doesn’t have any perceptible detent for afterburner, it happens that i fly on the AB or “semiAB” burning much more fuel than planned. In 4.33 version of BMS there was option in config to show the throttle on the HUD, but in 4.34 I can’t find it. Is there any way to enable it by messing in configuration files?
EDIT: I found in cfg file “g_bNoRPMOnHud” but it seems, it’s not very reliable as it shows 96 for about 1/3 of my throttle range…

About your first question search Cursor Zero in the docs. Basically resets every move of the cursor (given there is no lock) to the original coordinates of the active steerpoint.
-
…quick search for “zero” through config files, and here it is: "SimRadarCursorZero -1 0 0XC9 0 0 0 1 “TQS: RDR CURSOR - Cursor Zero”.
Thank You very much!

He’s not asking what it is, but what the callback for it is so he can edit his keyfile

He asked the actual full name and I gave it.

I used to just go by sound, there’s a very perceptible change in how the engine sounds in AB and without it. Though I found this annoying enough that I jury-rigged my CH Pro Throttle with a “detent” of sorts. Although if anyone has any suggestions better than sticking pieces of velcro along the track, it’d be welcome.
-
You can also take a glance at fuel flow meter. IIRC anything above 10 000 is afterburner.
-
Not by a long shot. Fuel flow value tells you nothing about whether you’re in AB or not, because it varies heavily with altitude. Down low, this may be true, but at high altitude, you’ll burn less than 10k even on full AB. Now, going into AB does result in a rapid jump in fuel flow, but you can only see that if you watch fuel flow while adjusting throttle. Sound is the best indicator, AB has a noticeably different tone from an engine running at mil power.

disclaimer, it may vary from one F-16 model to another …
Matter of fact, the subtle change in sounds doesn’t correspond with AB, it’s just before
No later than yesterday, I was buster (throttle at the detent) and I could hear the AB sound as you refer to it.
I asked my wingman to check my nozzle - I was concerned my throttle was miscalibrated - but he reported that I wasn’t in burner.
We were flying the ROKAF b52 F-16
I feel that sound is at 100% which is buster whereas it should start at 101% which is the first AB step
Deejay, any way for me to check that somewhere in the dat files?Basically, you can also check the NOZ pos gauge for AB use
nozzle opens in AB -
Will try to take a look. Maybe worth to check .dat files.
-
Ok … now I remember. the AB sound is playing continuously (as all other engine sounds) … it is the sound chart which is defining the curve of volume vs RPM and is specific for each engine type. It could be difficult to fine tune it without inducing other side effects.
First, I need to reproduce.

Roger, Dj.
Don’t worry too much about it, it’s not important.
thanks for having a quick look at it, it’s already great you didCheers

I must admit that I think I already had that “feeling” … I thought is was my Cougar AB detente “badly” set.
Maybe it is not that a problem to “fix” … but I will have to do it on my Home PC. Can’t do it on my laptop. So I will take a look as soon as I can.
-
As for OP, easy to see if in AB : check nozzle position next to engine RPM. In flight, if it is open (even slightly), you are in AB.
-
Yep, nozzle dial is enough for me in that situation.
Thank You all for remarks!

I am sorry, I can’t manage to repro …
In order to try to understand what could happen on your side (or to have a change identify the issue on my side) would you be able to post a screen of your sound settings? I wonder if what you are hearing would not be one of your engine external filtering (could depends on “External sound in cockpit slider” if set far to the right) ?
I’ve suppressed all engine sound except the AB sound internal and external with a high pitched 1000Hz tone.
On my side I get this:
Inside … I move VERY slightly (as much as I can) the throttle to get the very precise moment the AB goes ON (FF increasing and NOZ POS move to 10%) … and to me it sound rather alright.
External, it is different because the principle is not the same. The “AB” sound sample is always audible but modulated in pitch (tone) and volume and change from a high pitched to a lower pitched tone at the moment the AB goes ON (which is normal, or lets say, intended, otherwise we would have a bad/“non natural” effect). -
… I just made another test, I can tell you that , whatever the sound chart of the .dat the internal AB sound start to be played ONLY when we pass 100% (at 101% RPM) …
Be careful, I am speaking absolute RPM (code wise, not about what the gauge is showing which depends on needles 3D model and DOF settings).
Only other explanation I could give you is that you might hear the External AB sound to an “abnormal” volume , maybe due to a high setting of the “External Sound in cockpit slider”. (?) If not … I don’t have any other explanations except maybe (if you were referring to the gauge of you real Pit and not the in game 3D Pit) some real gauges very slightly un-synced with the game (? … but I am not a specialist of gauges extractions.)
-
would you be able to post a screen of your sound settings?
My sliders are at recommended mark (except the engine internal which is at 3 instead of the recommended 2
Ext sound in cockpit is set to recommended setting “without earplug”Be careful, I am speaking absolute RPM (code wise, not about what the gauge is showing which depends on needles 3D model and DOF settings).
How would I know?
If I can’t rely the gauges, where do I get the RPM setting? All I can say is that I checked the Cougar calibration, I set the AB detent perfectly and it matches my buster setting
And when I am in the pit, My RPM gauges matches my throttle position (buster against the detend (the real one, not the cougar)) and the AB sound has already kicked in.

Yep … that the one I checked. (But on my Btest Install … I don’t have the 4.34 installed … no more disc space.
Tell me if you are reproducing anytime (maybe a Video capture like the one I’ve made could help to hear what you hear and could help me to identify the guilty sound sample(s)).
-
it’s reproducitible 100% of the time for me mate
been there like this for ages
I would do a video if I could but you’ll have to take my word for it and I don’t have any wish to fiddle with video software
