Reworked Contrails and SAM smoke

Here’s a different particlesys.ini file for you guys to check out. Extract from zip folder. It goes in install folder/data/terrdata.
Do be sure to make a copy of your original!This file represents a compilation of Fenrir’s sam smoke mod, and a small tweak I made to the contrails. I feel like they are a little unrealistic in game, so I made them expand more and last way longer (240 seconds).
So far no measurable impact on performance for an up to date machine. I’ve contacted Fenrir for his permission to release his modification to the file.I definitely encourage you all to make your own modifications to the file so we can see what looks the best! Enjoy!

Not entirely sure, to be honest. Anything involving tracers should be pretty stock 4.33.2. Only modifications made to this file are sam smoke trail and contrails.

Just curious– what was the default SAM/contrails/etc. duration before you upped it to 240 seconds??? The reason I’m asking is because if the default was 90-120 seconds, that would be plenty long enough for sim purposes (only my opinion, of course)

The sky looks amazing full of contrails going every direction. Unfortunately for me the FPS hit is too big. I have a pretty nice computer as well. Is it possible to reduce the number of “particles” that make up the chemtrails?

Hey guys, sorry for the late response. Work has been crazy. I’ll work on an FPS improvement for campaign play this weekend (It’d really help if someone sent me a PM on Saturday or Sunday, because I might be distracted trying to synthesize nitroglycerin).
I will try to adjust the number of particles emitted for every unit of time to something less, while leaving the lifetime and expansion settings.

I believe it was 20 seconds, but I could be wrong. I’m aiming for lasting trails, like you’d see on a typical day.
