F-4 Phantom

When i worked on the peace ikarus II program in Greece my impression is that Raptors skin looks more realistic. The contrast between the paint on ac skin and the panel screws (opened later during maintenance) are correct. But when you see all this original pictures you will see all variants of usage on the ac. This depends from the houres since last overhaul or complete paintjob.

Thats true. U can see different variations on the same type of aircraft. Others are freshly paint and others are full of dirt and chips of paint missing. You even see sometime difference in the pattern of the camo. The Dirtiest birds i ever saw was whne Aegean blue was a must in Greek Phantoms. As a scale modeller i had to thorougly find many reference photos to finally choose witch S/N i was going to build cause everyoen was different. Of course not the pattern but the dirt. and different Stencils. Others had full stncils other no. And still not all the planes have the stencils. Others have black stencils other have grey/white other have a mix of both….

Latest update on AUP. Fixed some shading issues and some vertices that werent aligned. Plus i use the skin Raptor gave me… so here is a debate for u guys. This skin or the skin i created? colorwise i mean.
http://i63.tinypic.com/2hhiooh.jpgSuper but needs dirt.
-
So i played a little with Photoshop… Compine the texture i had with the original FS (federal standard) colors of the ghost camo. Ok it still needs dirt but i like the outcome… In the end of the project i think i will know how to make a skin also… AHAHAHAHAHAH

Too dirty???
-
IMHO I think the dirt looks to grid like. I see that you followed all of the panel lines. Maybe you could add some randomness to the dirt like in the picture below.
Thank you for all of your hard work!!!

Yes i did follow the panels cause of the editing u couldnt see tgem actually therefore many phantoms also look like this. Randomness is the second step. Im try to figure out what i will use…

I hesitate to ask since it’s kind of off topic, but have you had any luck with someone showing interest in making a cockpit for this?
-
Unfortunatelly no….

Something like this? By the way i know that a part of the front wheel its visible. This is only in Ogglod viewer cause in game all the wheels have switches so when the wheel doors are closed there not there

New pilot heads testing…. I think they look ok what do u think? I wont change the bodies… Sorry maybe i can use better (if i can find good) textures. -
wow nice.
BUT
Increase the resolution. Maybe have alongside a higher resolution texture for this beauty on the corresponding folder when high res texture usage is selected from falcon settings. Don’t be afraid of it, go as high as 4096 or even 8192. The pilot texture resolution looks much higher than the airplane. Text is unreadable and a poly is having an attitude at the intake.
-
Actually the texture is 4096x4096. but ok the stencil source isnt that good unfortunatelly… I cant find a good source to download and use Stencils. The poly having an attitude actually is the Inner intake ramp lol. I have to edit there the limits of the DOF

Do you have the blueprint of it? or tell me the exact model to look in to it. From the blueprint I can create u vector which will be super.
Also from Substance painter and a good source of the bolts heads and maybe and the frame lines I can create them in super detail and blend them as natural as they can be. I will need the 3d model and the texture clean and with the lines and bolts to have it as guide.
In the past I had found in Ultra super trooper resolution the markings. ejection etc… hmmm I must search them.
Else I can do them in vector if we have good reference.
