-Ice's Falcon BMS Helios Profile Updated!
-
OMG, so many posts…. I’ll see if I can work through it all…
First things first…
My Helios profile should work with 4.33, U1, and U2. Otherwise, there’d be more people complaining about it not working.Second, Helios should work fine whether you are playing fullscreen or -windowed mode… although you’ll lose framerates if playing in -windowed mode. Get MFDE or better yet, YAME64 and play in fullscreen mode all the time!
Third, make sure your touchscreen is recognized as a touchscreen and that you’ve calibrated it. To do this, go to CONTROL PANEL - TABLET PC SETTINGS - DISPLAY - CONFIGURE and click the Setup button. After that, click the Calibrate button below it. Save your calibrations. You’ve just told Windows which of your screens is the touchscreen and you’ve calibrated it. To check, drag an icon onto your touchscreen… doesn’t matter which icon. Let’s say is a MS Word icon. Double-click on it on your touchscreen USING YOUR FINGER. If MS Word opens, then you’re all set. If it does not open and you see your cursor on your other screen, you’ve just failed miserably. Start again.
Fourth, make sure you’re using MY .key file. Your screenshot shows you using Wathog_DX-4_33_2.key and that won’t work at all. At best, you’ll get patchy results. Use my .key file.
I hope that explains everything. I think you using the wrong .key file is your biggest boo-boo so far. Set your big screen as your main screen, follow the instructions above, and tell us what happens next.

This will be my last post since you’ve so generously offered to help me on skype!
My touch panel is set up and calibrated. It works fine when opening programs, scrolling through posts and everything,“when NOT set as the main display”. It isn’t until I try and use it with Helios that it doesn’t activate the buttons. I can see on the touch screen that I’m pressing in a certain location as it highlights and shows a white dot. However it does not activate the switches on the Helios profile. Only when the touch screen is set to main display does it work.
I have used your .key and it had no effect when the touch screen is not set to main display. Also as long as it is set to main display the WH.key you saw works like a champ and gives me all the Morphine profile settings for my WH and activates all the Helios switches. Blah! Lol I’ll chat with you tomorrow.

FIXED!!! The size of text and apps had to be the same at 175% for both monitors. A week and a half to get this working lol. Thanks for the help Ice and everyone else!
-
You upped the size of text and stuff and that messed up Helios? Very odd, but I think I can see the connection.
-
I think both screens had to have the text and icon sizes the same in order for the screen to align with where the computer thinks the Helios graphic is??? Lol I don’t know, I’m just happy it work!

Good to know!

Hi Ice,
Thanks for sharing your work. I tried your profile but the gages do not show up (empty). Any ideas what’s wrong?

MFDE control gauges not HELIOS

Hi skyrider! Please read the first post on the BLOG linked in the first page. You can use MFDE or YAME64 for gauges…. if you’re just starting out, I’d strongly recommend going with YAME64!

After working on my new profile and adjusting my monitor orientation and display resolution a few times, I can confirm that Helios has a bug regarding the CHARTS section of my profile. The weird thing is that it only affects the CHARTS and none of the other hidden panels or pages after pressing RESET MONITORS to adjust the profile’s monitor sizes/locations.
As identified by Weepop, copying the bindings line fixes this but it’s not just a simple copy-paste. Most of the time, the monitor numbering does not stay the same so if the profile is initially set up as [2][1] and sees your monitors as [2][1], then that’s fine, a straight copy-paste will work. However, if the profile is set as [2][1] and sees your monitors as [1][2], then you’ll have to edit the copied lines so that it points to the correct monitor number. What I find even weirder is aside from this monitor numbering change which may or may not be needed, there’s really nothing that’s changed in the relevant lines, but Helios seems to want to ignore the new ones until you paste the old ones over.
I’ll be giving more explanation later on when I release my new profile.

Hello Ice,
Attached please find my Helios profile. The button I’ve created to test the interaction with Yame central pedestal is on the right console, in Blank Panel Three.
Thanks for your help with this.P.S.: Can’t wait to discover your new profile

Hello Ice,
P.S.: Can’t wait to discover your new profile
Likewise, as I’ve just installed BMS 4.33.3 and need to configure all add-ons to the sim like TrackIR/Voice Recognition/Helios/MFD extractor etc. from scratch. IIRC it’s not a good idea to copy configs from BMS 4.32. Thanks in advance for all your hard work @Ice and sharing it!

Hello Judy. I’d need your images in a .zip file as well; all that’s showing up are red X images. I’d also need a copy of your YAME profile.
As for my new Helios profile, it’s fitted to work on two touchscreens so I guess that limits who can use it. However, I’ve added quite a few new images and buttons which anyone can copy and paste into their own profiles so that’ll be cool…

Thanks Ice. Here are the files you requested.

P.S. Edit: won’t take my images.zip file. Too big I think. I’ll find another way to send it.

I for the life of me cannot get YAME and Helios to play nice. With both programs running, the YAME screen is displaying over the Helios screen. With yame not running, helios works fine. I tried the masking option and not, and every other option really. The Masking function doesnt seem to be working, there is a whole screen filled with the backgroud color that was chose whether visible/masked is checked or not
Maybe somebody that is using YAME and Helios successfully together can save thier yame layout and share it with me so i can try it on my end.
I am using a modified ICE/WEEPOP profile with some of my own stuff thrown in, so anyone who is using ICEs should at least get me closer to where i need to be.
Thanks

Hi Guys,
since I am really a noob about using helios with touch screen,
is there a simple noob guide how to set up the touch screen for bms?this is what I understand so far:
1. install the touch screen monitor as second monitor in win7.
2. download and install the latest helios from http://www.gadrocsworkshop.com/downloads/13
3. download and install MFD extractor, or is it YAME? which one works better?
4. use Ice’s profile in helios.is this correct?
do I need to set up bms for the touch screen monitor?
please advise. -
Just no 4 wrong …Use weepops profile
