My Cougar Microstick Replacement
-
I am very very interested in purchasing an assembled microstick replacement that is as plug and play as possible, since I do not have a soldering iron or soldering skills. If anyone has any available, message me.

Even if you can get a whole microswitch assembly, it still requires a bit of soldering to attach the wires the the PCB terminals.

Damnit. If I could learn to solder I would, but I can’t even learn use one in student accomodation atm according to my contract. I guess I’ll have another look at my own microstick as to why it’s broken.

What exactly is the issue with it? Not working at all? Spiking?

I acquired a second hand cougar throttle for a decent price that had a bunch of issues but the microstick was good (and my own throttle’s was bad). It was plug and play moving it from one throttle to the other, no soldering required.
So if you can find another cougar throttle with a good microstick you can do a transplant without soldering (I also don’t have the equipment and or skills for that.

Ah brilliant. Sorry for the mistake. I must be getting mixed up with the other switches etc.

hehe, i’d mention braid, but i didn’t know how to name it in english. I’ll go to sleep tonight a bit less stupid , thanks mate
Wow, Really? I guess we’d all whish we could say that !!
don’t feel bad, welcome to the normality
There’s nothing wrong with being wrong. imho The bad from it is to be unable to accept we’re wrong, and it’s even harder on a forum media
cheersThe American version of solder braid is also called “Solder Wick”, RD. It’s a brand name but has become sort of a generic term.

@Red:
that is incorrect. I soldered / unsoldered enough of them with a very basic solder iron and basic solder. The solder TM used is pretty standard.
It’s difficult to unsolder, not because of the hi temp solder used, but because there are 14 solder points to unsolder at the same time. You need to unsolder each point and pump the solder out while it’s out. then you can rather easily unsolder the microstick from it’s PCB, place the new one and resolder it.
It’s no rocket science. all you need is this:

I’m considering to source 50 pots and offer them here. but considering demand became quite low compared to what it was, i’m not sure it’s worth itby the way chihirobelmo, nice outside the box thinking
Please, count me in for a couple of PCB, with the pots if change your mind on source them. And also that tool, which i have noh ide what it is, but seems it´s required to change the pcb.
I´m completely serious Red Dog, i have a small problem with my micrstick on the cougar no centering well. I wanted to send you a personal message, but you do not allow it.
Please consider giving those interested a way to acquire them. Thanks!

I did for 15 years mate
i’m out of stock and 1-2 orders a month is not going to allow me to buy the MOQ of the parts anymore -
Too bad! I was hoping we could convince you
-
It’s all a question of finding reasonnable MOQ
-
What is a MOQ?

I got lazy and didn´t even made a small search, my bad.

Do you have an indication of what MOQ would make it viable to do another batch? I would talk to my squad and see if anybody would be interested and if others did the same we could see if we can reach it? But only if you want. I can understand that maybe after 15 years you’re like “enough is enough”

I would take 5 myself

I would take 2.
