Installing 4.33 Problem
-
@ZeeMan90, just curious, was that the install complete with U1? It may have been my mistake but thought I should mention it as I had exactly the same issue. Are you BAOR?
-
It was complete. I started it to make sure everything was up and running. As it was I made sure to install U2 next.
No, I am not BOAR, but I life very close to them Less than a klick from Barker Barracks^^

@ZeeMan, OK, must be a very minor issue then. Hope I have not caused any problems. I used to be in Soest:)

I was just talking out my butt. Trying to introduce some levity to a frustrating problem - keeping in mind that a few weeks ago my system, BMS and, DCS was working with no problems.
Might be best to nuke that thing from orbit and start againā¦.
Just a quick note from an ultra rookie on the installing of the game from 4.33 U1 to U2 and U3. Like Kerfuffle I had a few difficulties in doing the incremental updates into the U1 full install, same issues. Seems to be if you download the file complete from the E HAF site the set up folder seems to come without a set up file which is needed for U2 + 3. I dont know how but the setup file is missing, checked my folders and files and compared with You tube install videos. Soon as I did the Torrent download for full install U1 the file appeared and have been able to do U2 + 3 as well no problem. Dont know if someone higher up the chain of command needs to give this a once over? If not Iāll get back in my box
Another reason to use the torrent for downloading. The HAF link may have been valid, but it may have been corrupted or your download may have paused or got interrupted and you ended up with a ābrokenā download. Using a torrent, you wonāt get this issue as the whole thing is checked before being declared complete. If you continue to seed afterwards, the whole thing is checked again at the start of the torrent programā¦ if anything has changed, you will need to have your copy āfixedā before you can seed it, again guaranteeing that your copy is complete and identical to all other ācompleteā copies of the installer.
As for installing BMS, you donāt have to install U1, then U2, then U3. You can download U1/U2/U3, apply the U2 and U3 patches, then install BMS straight as a U3 version.

@ Ice, ref download, it does seem as if the torrent system was better from my experience and mild frustration. Seems as if it only happened to a few of us. Got there in the end though.

Ice:
Vectoring to the IP and release of a clean nuke - hopefully with no fallout. But a quick question. Should I use Duncās Clean_Public_BMS 4.32 utility to cleanse my registry? Iām also familiar with the Regedit process via HKey_Local_Machine >Software > Window6432Node > Benchmark Sims and deleting the Falcon BMS 4.33 and Install Folders. Which action would you recommend?
Additionally, whatās the best Torrent Download site?

ICE:
Correction on my last. I meant the WOW6432Node as opposed to Window6432Node.
-
Well, if youāre nuking your PC from orbit (read: clean wipe), then no need to use any sort of registry cleaner.
Recommend using qBittorrent as your download program and no need for a torrent download site. The devs provide the link to the official torrent here.
Base + U1
U2
U3 -
The most common and likely obstacle to installing BMS for beginners is confusing the installer folder containing the installation files with the target installation folder where the game runs from.
Once you get that sorted out, the installers get the job done with minimum fuss.

This Dude has tried 4 times to install U3. After the title screen I get the , encountered a problem and needs to close, every time.
I load each one at a time and test. U1 and U2 work fine, every time. My last try was with a new DL of U3, suspecting corrupt file.
Same result.
Taking a wild guess looking at the start of my Crashlog, wondering if U3 is expecting something from my hardware/driver that U1 and U2 were happy with. Been a Falcon fan since the days of AT. This is my first real show stopper.
Any suggestions ?================================== CRASHLOG =====================================

Go into your User>Config folder and delete the dx9display.dsp file and relaunch.(if itās in there)
The file will regenerate and youāll be able to get into BMS!!!

ICE and Cloud 9.
Reaching out to let you guys know, I solved my MFD extraction problem. I feel like a dope because I had overlooked (actually forgotten) that I had to place the g_bExportRTTTextures option in my Config.exe file. All extractions - MFDās, DED, RWR and YAME64 Gauges - are working perfectly now. Its great to be back. Next project: YAME64 moving map to render on a 4th Display (Samsung Galaxy Tab A). However, one last problem to deal with. Upon C 9ās advice, Iāve been launching BMS with the ā-windowā extension added to my Falcon BMS .exe path. If I remove this extension and Launch BMS, I get a CTD. Running BMS in this windowed mode is a pain because I get the BMS Boarder and my Primary screen bleeds into my secondary display. Has anyone got some suggestions for a workaround.
In closing, Iāll make note of a forum memberās recent admonition: RTFM again, and again, and againā¦ā¦

Did you adjust the Main Window in Cockpit Display Extraction?

Another reason to favor torrentsā¦. currently downloading install files for XPlane 11 and from what I can tell, Iām downloading from an āofficialā server. Speed? 1.1MBps at the best of times, but not very often. Most of the time itās around 600-700kbps, which is pathetic as I can download stuff via torrent at 2-4MBps easily.

This is how your Main window should be set up:
Note that the Border option is un-ticked. Also, do you need to run the -window extension on the .exe path? Will it not work with the Cockpit Displays to External Windows option ticked?
Anyway, I thought you were going to reformat your system anyway?

ICE and Cloud 9:
Yep, I reformatted my (500Gb SSD) and (2Tb SATA) drives before a fresh installation of BMS U1. Although I know that I had the MAIN Cockpit Display Extraction Boarder Box unticked when I setup my extractions after reinstallation, I checked it again and noted that the boarder box was ticked. In any event -now corrected- no more boarder around my primary monitor - problem solved. However, as soon as I made this correction, my USB display # 3 copped out and I had to reload its display driver to remedy the situation. Man, I feel like I got Gremlins running around in my system that pop up whenever they get pissed that my rig is running as desired. Iāve yet to reinstall U2 & 3 but will do so in the next few.
Ever since I refocused my attention from XP11 on my civilian Flt sys to Falcon BMS on my other system, Iāve spent an inordinate amount of time rebuilding my mil flt sys, troubleshooting and, tweeking this and that. As a result I havenāt had the chance to get back into the operational complexities (a perishable skill if you donāt stay on game) of flying the damn AC - never mind enjoying the immersion that BMS offers.
In respect to favoring Torrent. Iāve always used it as a more effective download media. So I get your lament about XP11 's time consuming DL process. However, I do think X-Plane utilizes a private server which attempts to deal with the Tracking problem associated with Torrent DLās.
Again, thank you guys for your continued support and advice. Now, off to load U2 & 3 and, reach out to YAME64ās Roccio to learn how to migrate the moving map function to my Android Tab. Hopefully, at some point Iāll be flying some missions across BMSās diverse Theaters.

As an addendum, I do have Cockpit Displays to External Windows Ticked along with External Windows Always On Top ticked as well.

Hence the suggestion to nuke the thing from orbit!

Always on Top shouldnāt be neededā¦ definitely not in my case as Helios has to be on top in order to present a better image.
