Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X

Hi BlueRaven,
I hope you don’t mind but I have modified your BlueRaven.key file as I do not have TrackIR and came up with 6 versions (see below/attached) for non TrackIR users.
Basically, I’ve put back POV HAT panning in all 6 versions. The ‘MP’ (multiplayer) versions keep the original VHF/UHF mapping on the throttle while the ‘SP’ (single player) versions replace them with DMS functions. The ‘v2’ versions differ from ‘v1’ in that they also change the shifted Trigger and shifted Pickle buttons to SRM and MRM Overrides respectively.
SP v3 maps the antenna elevation up/down to the throttle (shifted buttons 5 and 6 respectively). The reason is that button 5 is for locking targets and a DMS left on button 5 (shifted) tends to result in an unintended change to the left MFD page. Padlock and glance forward have also been added to button 3 on the stick to improve target tracking and situational awareness in DF mode.
I also found the following posts helpful in understanding the DX mapping functions:

BlueRaven POV.key
Same as original BlueRaven.key except:
- POV HAT (Unshifted) = Panning (default)
- POV HAT (Shifted) = Slew Radar Cursor // Replaces and loses the 4 DMS positions
BlueRaven POV MP v1.key
Same as BlueRaven POV.key except:
- Throttle Button 7 (Shifted) = DMS Down (change MFD SOI) // Replaces and loses CMS Down
- Throttle Button 8 (Shifted) = Toggle Jammer (J) // Replaces and loses CMS Right
BlueRaven POV MP v2.key
Same as above (BlueRaven POV MP v1.key) but adds these changes:
- Stick Button 1 Trigger (Shifted) = SRM (DF) Override // Replaces MRM Override
- Stick Button 2 Pickle (Shifted) = MRM Override // Replaces and loses Emergency Stores Jettison
BlueRaven POV SP v1.key
Same as BlueRaven POV.key except:
- Throttle Button 5 (Shifted) = DMS Left (cycle Left MFD) // Replaces and loses Commns Switch Up (UHF)
- Throttle Button 6 (Shifted) = DMS Right (cycle Right MFD) // Replaces and loses Commns Switch Down (VHF)
- Throttle Button 7 (Shifted) = DMS Down (change MFD SOI) // Replaces and loses CMS Down
- Throttle Button 8 (Shifted) = Toggle Jammer (J) // Replaces and loses CMS Right
BlueRaven POV SP v2.key
Same as above (BlueRaven POV SP v1.key) but adds these changes:
- Stick Button 1 Trigger (Shifted) = SRM (DF) Override // Replaces MRM Override
- Stick Button 2 Pickle (Shifted) = MRM Override // Replaces and loses Emergency Stores Jettison

Hello mate, I was going to look at porting the POV hat back to my keyfile but I think you anticipated me… and what a kind of anticipation, great work!!! :drink:
I absolutely don’t mind, on the contrary I encourage everyone to use my work as a basis of improvement for the whole community of Hotas X users as you did, thanks very much for your highly useful mods (I immediately stored them in my personal BMS useful stuff archive).
I’m glad of having been helpful for your understanding of how DirectX shifting works in the “DX Numbering” thread, too, it’s really fulfilling for me to give back something from the great body of knowledge that I received from this community.
Enjoy your flying and have a nice life! -
Hi BlueRaven,
I couldn’t wait as no Hotas programmed = no flying, haha. So I had to read up and try. But thanks to you - your key file was a good help.
One question. I couldn’t find the answers on the net. During Instant Action or Furball, my Wingman Commands (W) are greyed out. If I radio the Tower (not greyed out), there is no response. What am I missing?
I know BMS uses VHF/UHF and all those channels for realistic commns. I’ve read the manual but not entirely sure what the UHF/VHF buttons mapped on the throttle do. Still new to it. I don’t fly MP, not yet at least as I am not ready.
Cheers

If your wingman menu is greyed out, it basically means you don’t have a wingman …. shot down maybe, or crashed, or maybe was never in the flight. You’re not getting a tower response because you’re on the wrong frequency, or, maybe, too far away.
UHF/VHF buttons are used for player-to-player communication (on the same freq). The menu system is used to ‘communicate’ (give orders, or make requests) with AI pilots, ATC, AWACS, etc.

Hi AgaveBlue,
In Furball, I added a Wingman. When it starts, I seem to issue an automatic call to the Wingman to go Spread. But the W menu is still greyed out.
Are the UHF/VHF buttons only used in MP IVC chat - I mean like you click it and then speak into the mic?

I hear you, but if the menu is greyed out, he’s not there. Another possibility, you might be in the #2 seat. You can’t give commands to lead from #2.

BlueRaven et al: Thanks for helping us out…but I think I must be missing something. I downloaded the file, loaded it, hit “apply”, and saved it as my own.
I can see the two different “hat” setups but when I get in the cockpit the POV doesn’t work.
I’ve tried hitting, and holding the shift key, but it didn’t seem to work.
What am I missing? Is there a “pinky” switch on the joystick I must hit too?
I’d love to use the hat for the radar cursor…“shifted”
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Raven;
I just bought the TM X Hotas stick and have 3 questions… (I bought Falcon 4.0 years ago but haven’t played for years - so I’m a novice at this!!!)
1. Do you have the key file for this that I could download? (The one on the BMS forum you provided refers to the Thrustmaster Cougar Hotas so I was reluctant to use it)
2. As far as I can see, this stick does not have a 2nd detente option so would I use the pinky button to activate the shift function?
3. After installing the stick, the throttle doesn’t respond and the rudder seems to affect the throttle in some way. Are you aware of a solution to this? This device appears to be OK when using the windows 7 device driver.Sure would appreciate your help!
Thanks

I am new to Falcon BMS and haven’t used Falcon f4 for ages so I somewhat clueless here but am really impressed by how many are willing to help! I just bought the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X and have 2 questions:
1. I noticed the BMS is ignoring my throttle even though when testing with Falcon 4.0 it runs OK. Can anyone tell me why? And is there a thread here that will give me a solution?
2. I examined your BlueRaven .zip file and your comments mention that this is the Full Real TM Hotas Cougar DX button mapping. Will this work with the TM T-Jlight Hotas ?Thanks

Change the throttle axis to “Z Axis - T Flight HOTAS X”

Thanks Krippz, I’ll give it a try. Sure appreciate your help!

Worked like a charm! Thanks… you guys are wesome!

Gary in Salisbury, MDHi, sorry for replying only now.
The file does not use POV hat for view panning because I have TrackIR, try the modification by GrEaSeLiTeNiN you’ll find in this post.P.S. the Shift keyboard button does not act as DX shift, you can only use the pinky shift button on the throttle (button 9).

Hi mate, sorry for the late reply:
1. Please see my original post, I just updated it with a newer version of the file.
Don’t worry about the references to the Cougar, they are default in the stock keyfiles… my configuration lies at the very bottom of the keyfile, so that bindings will override Cougar’s ones and all will work perfectly.2. I don’t see the link between 2nd detent and shifting (what do you mean?); anyway yes, in order to activate the shifted layer you must use the pinky shift bound button (button 9).
3. I see your problem is solved, kudos to Krippz for helping.

Thank you

I’m trying to use GrEaSeLiTeNiN’s keyfile to retain POV panning on the hat switch, since I don’t have TrackIR either.
However, I’m running into issues where when I launch a flight, all the buttons and POV hat are unshifted, but just clicking (rather than even holding) the pinky switch for DX shift just once will permanently force the DX shift.
Even if I hit or hold the pinky switch again, to try and deactivate the DX shift, the buttons on the throttle and stick still perform the shifted function.Any ideas why this may be happening?

Hi mate, check the ‘Mapping the Shift Button’ in the DirectX Shifting Facility article here on the site: it sounds exactly like you are missing the needed second definition of the shifting callback in the shifted layer (see the note at the end of the paragraph).
Also, check Kolbe’s excellent keyfile documentation, you’ll find it into x:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\Key Files & Input\BMS Key File Manual.pdf.
I absolutely recommend it, it will shed way more light on how the whole keyfile thing works. -
Hi!
i have use your keyfile in my falcon bms 33
some days ago i have update at u4 and i dont know why, but i cant use most of the precedent keyfile.
ex: target lock… generally use by pressing button 5, now this function is used to change the radar scan in left mfd.
weapon release… generally use by pressing button 2, now this function is used for another radar function (i dont remember)
i had the original file called falcon bms bluraven.keyfile, and i try to install the bluraven hotasX.keyfile, without change.
any suggestions?? -
I use it and even if it has few buttons/hats with DirectX shifting you can map quite a good number of functions to it.
Please find my keyfile attached, it’s based on the new “BMS Full” 4.33 keyfile so you have all the latest and greatest stuff already available.
Let me know if you need help with it.EDIT: hi all, sorry for being away for so many time… RL calling.
I have updated the attached file, it’s based on a newer version of “BMS - Full.key” stock keyfile and has some minor changes to assignments (e.g. the shifted trigger now activates DF Override instead of MRM Override).
Unfortunately, this will be the last update as I went to T.16000M FCS HOTAS… I hope you all will enjoy and find it useful again. Thanks Raven! That was also helpful for me!!!

Is it possible to get this for 4.34?
I copy the Tm Hotas code from GrEaSeLiTeNiN at the end of the new BMS Full from 4.34.
Hope this works.
