F-14D pit from Korea 1980–>4.33.U2??
-
Hey guys,
I’ve been diving deeper into BMS and the infinite stuff to do:)) I stumbled across a beautiful F-14D pit in the Korea 1980 theater by molnibalage. The pit, as far as I could tell was originally designed by Mykinge for 4.32, and I don’t think he is working on it anymore.
Is there a possibility that this pit can somehow be used in 4.33.U2? The cockpit pit is not finished but it’s still a wonderful piece of work.
Thanks
Creature

Do you have a .3ds or .max file of it? Then we could continue where he finished

Do you have a .3ds or .max file of it? Then we could continue where he finished
I guess you need the consent from Mykinge to do so.

I guess you need the consent from Mykinge to do so.
And yes, that would be the next thing, after getting the files
And after that, then it would require someone with skill doing this or let a noob (me) train with this and see how far he can get with what quality in which time…

Hey guys,
I think mykinge donated it to bms to work on but i ll try to check just to be sure. I ll see if molnibalage knows. He may also know where the .3ds and .max files are.
If you have a chance and still have a 4.32 install check out his Korea 1980 theater with the F-14 and take a look.

You need mykinge permission. I do not have the LOD files but I can export the LOD and the dat files.

Hey guys whats up…I’ve been away for a really long time…very busy re-inventing my self studying…changing cities and now starting a new career while launching a start-up so yeah…busy Things are not going to get easier since in a few weeks I will be having a baby boy! My first!
Anyway back to the pit…Nothing would make me happier than seeing my work used as much as possible so happy to hear how we can do this. I think the two main ways of doing this is: 1. helping people integrate the pit in its current state and 2. creating enougn momentum and finding someone of a small team of enthusiasts to carry on with the development.
1. Helping People Integrate the Pit: I think here the person that Spearheaded this effort was Molni with his campaing, is he still around? Did you guys managed to integrate the pit with the new update? (yes I’ve been away that long!) If he has I will try to get in touch with him to see if he can put together a download link to the cockpit files (not editable ones) and any other instructions that might help you guys to integrate the pit “as is”
2. Carry on with the dev Here I would like to maintain a certain control on the actual 3dsmax files so what I would like to do is to create a “unoffcial f-14D pit dev team” with people that are able to commit a certain amount of time and as a team have the skills to finish the pit.
What do you guys think? I transferred all my files to the BMS team like 2 years ago si I think the first step would be to find out if they have done anything with it so don’t all duplicate work…
Happy to hear your thoughs.

Credits; I received a lot of help for my pit…specially from SunDevil and WaveyDave (Im sure I forgot others).

Hello Mykinge,
Afaik nobody has the pit in 4.33 which is a huge shame. The only other F14 pit I am aware of is in koreaHD3 however it does not work in 4.33 either and possibly not sanctioned for use by BMS team (I think).
I am very surprised to hear you submitted this work years ago and we still only have the default pit drawn with ms paint.
Thank you for your work and congrats on your baby boy.

Hey 1508AD…dont give the BMS a hard time I’m sure they have their priority list.
I really don’t remember much of how to use the integration tools but if somebody feels up to the task to integrate the pit in the new update I will be more than happy to assist.
I dont understand what you mean by “not sanctioned”
Cheers!

For people missing some background…this is the pit:

Not my intent to be an ass I understand this is a Viper Sim and BMS team does amazing work for free in their own time.
My issue is I see so many awesome pits on youtube that somehow die or get lost in time.
One question is this pit 6dof? or fixed position?
Slightly off topic -
Here is another pit I would love, this video 2 years old
-
These look excellent! I’m not sure of the proper channels to get these implemented in the game however, but it would be a shame to see these left out.
-
Indeed…BMS is a labor of love for people and they do it for free…I’m sure they’ll include it if possible in 4.34 whenever it shows up
-
there should be a “special project” to research and secure all the high fidelity working “off reservation” pits , and contact their developers or original license holders, if any.
-
Since we have an absolutely beautiful F-14D model not too far out now…it’d be wonderful to pair it with this. Just wishful thinking.

If you give premission I can try export stuff from 4.32 and give the guys to play in 4.33. Sadly currently I do not have time for this, and I also forget things about pit integration. Best would be share the LOD and dat files to community to find what can be done even the pit is not finished. As long as usable and nice it is far better than current.
-
Personally, I’d like to see like a BMS 4.33 Cockpit section where people can get cockpits to add to the current version of the game. Seems there is info out there, but you have to dig for it all.
-
Guys, I have spoken to MyKinge and he happily gave me permission to use his F-14 pit in my theatre projects. Once I get the source files from him, I will provide them to my fellow developers so that it can be incorporated into the Nordic Theatre DB.
-
Awesome!
Now if someone could bring it over to the KTO and BTO that’d be even more fantastic!
-
I agree, it’s far more useful to also have the Tomcat pit available across multiple theaters.
