HUD markpoint / Delilah TOO
-
Nvm … wrong section.

TMS up twice doesn’t help in this instance…
While you’re trying to do this, the HUD is your sensor of interest, correct? Should be able to make sure with a DMS up and an * in one of the upper corners of the HUD. I think.

you are correct

Hi,
Why do you need to use Markpoint in the first place? You can just slew the SPI (FCR/TGP/HUD) and have the SPI mark on the Delilah triangle in the MFD. Also, take into account that the HAD circle position isn’t that accurate (By design, as a single HTS cannot provide GPS position in RL). See a vid I took sometime ago with Delilah and Patriots:

I-Hawk,
If you wan to send someone else attack the same location - if you want to fly round and come back to the same location - if you want to switch to CCRP - if you are buddy lasing - if you want to use this point as a rally point - in short lots of reasons ;0)

Yea but you can’t do it… at least not based on HTS position only, that can not be done, not in RL and in the sim it’s just simulated (In short, I made the HAD circle to not show you the EXACT position but somewhat randomly shifted from the real point). In RL you will need triangulation between a couple of HTS pods via L-16 in order to extract the exact position of a given threat.

Enjoyed your vid, I-Hawk nice kill

Thx for replying I-Hawk… however, I’m confused, or maybe I misunderstood you. The Delilah triangle in the WPN page is linked to the current steerpoint. I can’t slew the triangle itself other than by relocating it with a double TMS right. Problem is, where to relocate it to so that it coincides with my HAD target. There’s no bulls-eye read out on the HAD of course, and as far as I can see, there’s nothing that shows you the locked HAD target in your FCR/TGI. The only reference is the HAD circle in the HUD, so whilst I understand it’s inaccurate, trying to set a HUD/FCR/TGI markpoint on this seemed to be the only way of creating a steerpoint based on my SAM target of opportunity.
Could you outline the basic switchology steps you think can help here? (And apologies if I’m slow on the up-take!)

Nope , Triangle is SPI in the moment when you fired Delilah … FCR/TGP , it doesn’t have to be linked to steerpoint/markpoint… it can be offset.
That’s what was confusing me , why do you want markpoint before launching… no need.In Delilah’s flight, yes, you can update it just for the weapon you control (2xTMS-Rt) and only with the controlled weapon, you cant update it with FCR/Tgp anymore, when weapon in flight.
Nor you can update plane’s (system) SPI with the weapon’s Triangle (vice versa) eg, use weapon as SPI sensor. It would be cool if we could do some things… eg, update system SPI with weapons triangle… so, we know where is next shot .(then you can make your markpoint precisely and send to others!)
but, don’t know about realism…Using is the same as SLAM-ER (AGM88H) … so copy paste.
Regards.

You need a markpoint before launching because otherwise Delilah SPI is your current steerpoint. If your target of opportunity e.g. SAM comes up on the HAD and it’s nowhere near your current steerpoint, you need some way of aligning the Delilah SPI to this. Other than approximate markpoints, I can’t see how to do this…

Hey, Before you go any further, I think you will need to go (again, maybe?) over the SPI and MITL sections in the 3-4 manual. Because no offense, but seems to me like you aren’t 100% controlling the functionality of the SPI.
What I’m doing in the video (and you can’t see that part because unfortunately I didn’t took video of the HUD) is that I paint the Patriot FCR in the HAD and then I’m slewing the SPI (In that case via FCR) to the position of the FCR as it’s pointed by the HAD/HTS (And remember what I wrote above that the position from HTS is NOT accurate enough, so the threat is in the “vicinity” of the HAD circle). The slewing of the FCR moves also the triangle symbol in the Delilah MFD, and that means that you can launch the Delilah and it’ll come naturally to the close area of the Patriot FCR. So you don’t need a markpoint, that is EXACTLY the main functionality of the SPI, to allow you rule all at once (When you read the SPI section of the manual carefully, you will know what I mean :))
It would be cool if we could do some things… eg, update system SPI with weapons triangle… so, we know where is next shot .(then you can make your markpoint precisely and send to others!)
but, don’t know about realism…Well, I had ideas to implement this kind of functionalities (i.e update SPI in MFD in Realtime, and vice versa) but it was finally decided to stay out.
Regarding realism - Well, the MITL implementation isn’t according to RL systems EXACTLY - i.e as oppose to TGP or SPI or Mavericks, for MITL we don’t have “concrete sources”, so the whole implementation is mainly based on public videos, some (VERY limited) knowledge of the weapon’s set of functionalities and eventually some guesstimations. But it came out not so bad I’d guess

Thx I-Hawk. If I read you right then, I just slew the FCR targeting box in the HUD to superimpose the HAD circle. This automatically skews the Delilah SPI as well, so then I can just launch and hunt around the vicinity. Thx
