Cockpit sounds in headset and outside in speakers. DONE!

@Doveman What I have to check is which channel IVC audio is sent to. If is sent to all of them, I have to search for another approach… If is sent to front… same issue. If is sent to center/subwoofer is perfect I already have an small mixer just in case
@Bertuz I tried that with normal 2.1 headphones too and it happened the same: only mono audio. I don’t have problems with that because with 5.1 headset works fine.
If someone know why is heard stereo in a 5.1 headset connected to a single output of the 5.1 system with only one stereo plug and mono in 2.1 headphones with the same type of plug, please let us know
I know I’m resurrecting an old thread, but I’m checking in to confirm that there is a workaround to get sound in both ears with a stereo (rather than 5.1) headset. I’m also now using a headset for radio calls and my surround speakers for external sounds. I’ve got a stereo gaming headset, and I also only got sound in the left ear. I purchased this 3.5mm mono-to-stereo adaptor from Monoprice, and now I get sound in both ears of my stereo headset. It’s a <$5 (USD, once shipping is included) solution for anyone who doesn’t want to buy a new headset in order to get sound on both sides, and it resolves the problem completely.

While this is an intriguing approach I have noticed four issues I was unable to fix.
-
The sidetone feature introduced in 4.33 seems to output your own voice indiscriminately to all speakers instead of just the center speaker. Therefore, you will unrealistically hear your own voice from all speakers, not just your headphones.
-
When using external views and panning around, with the aircraft being directly in front of and flying away from the observer, no engine sound is heard from the center speaker since that output is going to your headphones.
-
Since the center/subwoofer channel is being directed to your headphones, you obviously lose your subwoofer.
-
Having your headphones plugged into the same sound card as your speakers removes an easy way of recording just IVC comms (i.e. no other game sounds) for a synchronized TacView replay using SyncNix (https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?24211-SyncNix-audio-for-Tacview).

I hate to bring up an old thread, but it seems that Flight Sound X is selling again. FSx goes through USB so you cannot hook up to the soundcard. Has anyone found a way to make this work?
-
Nope. You could try: http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm
It is the software I will use to push IVC into the headset/helmet. I haven’t tested it yet!

incidentally since switching to win10 i have issues with bms.
IVC and Teamspeak are routed through my headset and all the bms sounds are routed to the speakers - although the headset is connected
in my case it pisses me off -
There must be an answer to that but if not you might buy (or make) a simple/cheap mix box from an audio store to input both jacks and output to your headset.

Probably not what you’re looking for but may help others with ideas.

Hello guys,
Sorry to pop that thread again.
I got my headphone today and want to try that.
So if I plug my speaker to the “out” output, I heard the external sound in my speaker.
My headset has two plugs. One for the mic, one for the cup. So if I plug the cup plug to the center/sub output, I hear the voice (tower) but only to the left side. No stereo. And the other things that annoy me is that I hear the electric panel sound all the time. You too? Is it normal? We don’t hear that normally…
To solve the mono problem, if I read the thread carefully, I need that: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=7158 Someone can confirm?
Now the question:
Is there my mic will work correctly?
If I’m flying online with my instructor, I will hear him from the speaker or the headset? Not bad at all anyway.

start watching around 1:15 which is close to what I ended up doing.
I’m not sure if that adapter you posted actually makes the connections to both left and right side on the stereo side.
-
I cannot confirm that IVC comes out over center channel or left/right channel as my ivc goes through a separate sound card to the mixer.
as for your mic, I’m not sure what you’re asking? if the mic goes into the mic in, it will work as before as you’re not really changing anything on the input side of things.

so what I do, because the way my stuff is set up, there is just going to be some noise from another source is I set my computer up for my headsset with the playback devices page by disabling the speakers , then I star falcon, once I hear falcon in the headset I alt+tab, then, I switch the default device to the speakers, then I make sure that the microphone is still set as default communication device…sometimes right here, youll get a CTD…then you go back into falcon, whatever you are doing will be on your headphones and everything else will be on the speakers, at lest it works for me and im using windows 10 but sometimes when i go through that process i get ctd’s. everything soundwise is HDMI or 3.0, i’m not a hardware wizard or a modder or wrote a file or have a soundcard I just changed the settings. I suppose if you get fancy with winamps or something you cold probably get music and maybe even ivc working to some extent. I don’t record video or audio, so there is a possibility that if you plan on it, this would cause some microphone problems because USB historically sucks when taking in duel channel input, or output, tbh. My background is music and construction so I’m probably wrong somehow but it is what it is.
