Rogue's Helios profile v3 RELEASED!
-
Includes backlighting! (of a sort ;))
This setup requires use of YAME for extraction of MFDs and certain gauges/lights. I’ve included my YAME layout, as well as my keyfile, which is based on the pitbuilder keyfile but with several needed modifications.
I’ve fixed a few bugs I found in it and have decided that I may as well release it. If you guys find something else, please let me know:
The profile can be downloaded here.
Updates
You can download the original file above, or just the updates below as needed:
@changelog.txt:
Changelog
v3.01
Fixed position of canopy switch and spider during runway start function of ENGINE switch
v3.02
Fixed ILS knob sync with sim during runway start. Knob will turn on after pause is released so that the sim sees its movement.
Added function on ANT SEL switches. Both switches will default to NORM. The IFF switch will launch TARGET and load my profile. The UHF switch will launch YAME and then launch BMS. If you wish to take advantage of these, you should place the included target.bat and yame.bat in C:\Launch\ and alter the batch files so that it will match your folder positions and launch the profile you wish.
The TARGET profile launch batch file requires you to have NirCmd, which you can download at www.nirsoft.net.
I will eventually release my TARGET profile after I’ve had a chance to do some needed updates, but you can edit this function to launch any profile you wish.
-
I found a small problem with the canopy switch when using the runway start function. The original file has been updated and you can either download it again, or use THIS link to download only the Helios profile.

Just read your post on ICE’s profile: “He’s more than welcome to pull any ideas from my profile that he wants. That being said, there’s nothing stopping you from doing it for your own use.You can try opening two separate windows of Profile Editor, open his profile in one and mine in another. You can then select the ENGINE switch and hit CTL c, then open his profile to where you want and hit CTL v. The switch should move over and most of the functions should be retained (though I’d double check it). You could then edit your new switch and change the art to match the art style in his profile.If that doesn’t work, you can just create a new switch in his profile and add all those functions yourself.”I think that you give me to much credit that I would be able to do this, but since I cannot break the computer, I will try it over the next few days.
In the mean time, I read your instructions for your new profile and have some questions:
1. I assume that you used TM Combined in target when you did your target profile? I have the WH HOTAS so my profile will be slightly different. Is your target profile available to be reviewed?
2. I tried to figure out whether you have Trackir so the Joystick POV hat first does trim then views, but I could not figure out from your key file. What does the POV hat do unshifted and shifted?
3. Is your radar elev and range functions similar to what ICE is currently using with throttle buttons controlling axis’?
Good luck with your health. I spent my ROTC training at Fort Brag, N.C. -
1. I assume that you used TM Combined in target when you did your target profile? I have the WH HOTAS so my profile will be slightly different. Is your target profile available to be reviewed?
I use a FSSB R3 with the Cougar stick handle and the WH PCB board in it, so the computer sees it as a Warthog stick. I also use the Cougar’s throttle in my profile with no stick handle attached to the Cougar. I can pull some stuff together over the next few days and make it available if you wish, but my TARGET ttm file is in need of major work right now, as it was based on BMS_Full.key and not on the pitbuilder one.
2. I tried to figure out whether you have Trackir so the Joystick POV hat first does trim then views, but I could not figure out from your key file. What does the POV hat do unshifted and shifted?
I do indeed use a TrackIR 5 in BMS and have a recenter function built into my TARGET profile. The stick’s H1 when unshifted controls trim, when shifted it rotates your view as a POV hat would.
3. Is your radar elev and range functions similar to what ICE is currently using with throttle buttons controlling axis’?
I’m not sure what he uses in his HOTAS profile, but mine uses the analog RNG and ANT knobs of the Cougar throttle.
Good luck with your health. I spent my ROTC training at Fort Bragg, N.C.
Thank you! I have another PT appointment tomorrow (Salisbury is a 45 minute drive), and hopefully I’ll be able to go back to work on 26 Oct as scheduled.

Thanks for your responses. I may try to use the Target script that ICE uses with your keyfile and Helios profile and see what happens. This is after I try your suggestion on copying the hot jet button.
Sobe -
I copied over the ENGINE switch but none of the set position inserts appear and I cannot figure out how to do that. Oh well.
-
Sobe, you should not worry about the TARGET profile at all. The DirectX commands are mapped directly via callbacks so it does not matter what key combination those callbacks are assigned to. However, you will have to double-check on some direct-key assignments I’ve done in my TARGET profile and change them if the keys are different in Rogue’s .key file. Have a look at the following lines:
//Pinky/S3
MapKey(&Joystick, S3, TEMPO(PULSE+F12, DX3, 750)); // Short - TrackIR Center {F12), Long - Autopilot Disconnect//Coolie Switch - Mapped to copy the COMM switch in the Cougar throttle
MapKeyIO(&Throttle, CSU, PULSE+‘u’, DX22); // VAC PTT Activate, UHF Transmit
MapKeyIO(&Throttle, CSD, PULSE+‘u’, CHAIN(L_CTL, DX24)); // VAC PTT Activate, TS3 PTT and VHF Transmit//Boat Switch
MapKey(&Throttle, BSF, PULSE+L_SHIFT+‘m’); // MRM Override
MapKey(&Throttle, BSM, PULSE+L_SHIFT+‘,’); // MRM/DF Cancel
MapKey(&Throttle, BSB, PULSE+L_SHIFT+‘n’); // DF Override//China Hat
MapKeyIO(&Throttle, CHF, CHAIN(F9, D(500), ‘3’, D(500), ‘3’), CHAIN(L_SHIFT+L_CTL+L_ALT+‘m’, D(100), L_SHIFT+L_CTL+L_ALT+‘m’, D(100), L_SHIFT+L_CTL+L_ALT+‘m’, D(100), L_SHIFT+L_CTL+L_ALT+‘m’, D(100), L_SHIFT+L_CTL+L_ALT+‘m’)); // TIR Off, 3D Forward View (shifted), Gun Sight Zoom
MapKeyIO(&Throttle, CHB, CHAIN(F9, D(500), ‘3’, D(500), ‘3’), DX30); // TIR Off, 3D Forward View (shifted), Default Cockpit Zoom//Pinky Switch
MapKey(&Throttle, PSF, PULSE+L_SHIFT+L_ALT+‘t’); // Master Lights OFF
MapKeyR(&Throttle, PSF, PULSE+L_SHIFT+L_CTL+‘t’); // Master Lights ON
MapKey(&Throttle, PSM, PULSE+L_CTL+L_ALT+‘3’); // Position Lights STEADY
MapKey(&Throttle, PSB, PULSE+L_SHIFT++L_CTL+L_ALT+‘1’); // Position Lights FLASH//Flaps
MapKey(&Throttle, FLAPU, PULSE+L_CTL+L_ALT+‘=’); // Landing Gear UP
MapKey(&Throttle, FLAPD, PULSE+L_SHIFT++L_CTL+L_ALT+‘=’); // Landing Gear DOWN -

Not fully understanding Helios, in the middle tab “bindings/position one entered” how do you enter the “send” statement? Do you type it in the action value? If so, do you use Static value? -
You have to find the action you want in the window to the left of that and drag it onto the position you want it to be on. If you want the switch to be in position one then you’d select static and type 1 in the box.

Thanks for the reply. I went to INPUT, Monitor 1 and your ENGINE Switch bindings appear in the Bindings column, positions one, two and three entered. From there I get lost even though I watched Outlaw’s video. Could you please give me an example of what to do next? -
I’m sorry but I won’t be able to help you for a while as I’m not in front of my computer… I’m on the way to the beach and will be gone for about a week. Ice should be able to explain it to you… I just have a hard time doing that stuff from memory.

I would not trust Helios too much with copy-paste though. It works sometimes, other times it doesn’t, so if you do copy-paste, make sure you test it thoroughly to make sure everything is working correctly
Yeah, Helios can be funny with this. Unfortunately, I’ve not really tested to see what works, how, or why.
Plus I’ve not really played with Rogue’s profile yet so I don’t know what you’re talking about

Could you please give me an example of what to do next?Okay… I’m back home now, and I can take a stab here at telling you what to do if you’re still trying to do this. In the Bindings box there are two tabs: Input and Output. Make sure that the Output tab is selected. In the Actions window under that, open up Monitors and drill down to the switch you want the ENGINE switch to activate. When you find it, click on set position and drag it to the position you want on the ENGINE switch in the Bindings window to the right. In the Properties window to the right of the Bindings window, choose static value and type the appropriate position number in the box.
I hope this helps you.

I’ve updated the profile and the original post.
I’ve released v3.02 of my profile with one new fix and two small additions, and have included a changelog.txt in the file now to help keep track of the changes. You can either re-download the entire file which will include these changes, or can download just the 3.02 updates.

While you were away, I copied and pasted your ramp/taxi/air switch, but the keys did not come through. So I watched Ice’s YouTube tutorials on Helios several times and finally, I understood his method #2. I have actually done a few of the switches necessary to conform the jet to a taxi start position. Still a long way to go. Thanks for the help. -
Rogue,
Congrats on your new profile. It’s really good
Would you mind explaining how you programmed your switch to go from Ramp to Taxi to Take Off? I’ve tried to find it out by myself but to no avail.
Thx a lotJudy

Started using the Rogue Helios profile a few months ago and decided to start using WDP to generate the Breifing and datacards etc … The problem is that the datacards that come with Rogue profile seem to be smaller and fit better than what my WDP is generating. I think I tried both A4 and A5 as well but they seem to take up the majority of my 22” touch screen. Is there a WDP recommendation setting that I’m missing? Although WDP doesn’t really have that many settings so I’m not sure whats different.
Any help is much appreciated.

No matter what size wdp is sending, you can config the size in Helios itself.
