Hello all! I am planning to start playing online. I have never played MP before and was just interested in what headset you are using. I don’t want something cheap but not overly expensive either. Thanks in advance! I apologize if this is not in the right topic area.

Don’t discount the cheap stuff. Up until recently, I was using a Plantronics GameCom 380 (purchased 2013, £20) after my older GameCom377 (purchased 2010) broke. Annoying little thing, can’t even withstand being sat on!! This was also the time when I was most active in MP, initially in DCS A10C and then in BMS. No complaints on either side!
Recently, I’ve upgraded to a Razer Man O’ War wireless headset that was around £160…. and promptly went through TWO headsets as the build quality could not withstand normal, everyday use. On the second headset, I returned it for a full refund and went with a different one altogether.
Just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean it’s good… just because it’s expensive doesn’t mean it cannot be crap.

Thanks for the information. I have went with a Razer Kraken Essential. I found a nice bundle pack which included a keyboard and mouse, for a decent price!

Microwave frequencies long exposures around your brain, that’s some dumb move…
Looking for cancer?

Hmm, has this been established by medical research? Just wondering.

I worked around cell phone towers for years, I know well enough… Those studies can tell anything, I experienced first hand their effects (blood in stools, headaches, nose bleeds, vertigo’s, pupils dilated like after I don’t know how much spliffs, …)
True, there is way much power on those relays antennas, but I don’t think daily exposure to wireless devices around your brain is any less dangerous than being near those antennas for a couple hours. The 2Ghz band is actually one of the worst. GSM is 900/1800, UMTS is 900/2100, LTE is 800/1800/2600 IIRC. Minilink antennas are in the 20-40Ghz band.
We’ve had asbestos cancers in the 90’s (my mom’s cousin died from that), wait a bit more to see all those telecom cancers, it’s coming sooner or later.
So again, using wireless stuff more than necessary is a dumb move in my opinion.

No.
Your level of trust belongs to you. After all, medical studies clearly established what alcohol and tobacco do, they are allowed. It’s not like a medical study can change people’s behaviour.
Yet the answer is no.

I know of at least one prominent brain surgeon in LA that will not use - nor let anyone else in his office use - a cell phone…for just this reason. I only know of him because he treated a friend of mine for an aggressive brain cancer (that ended up killing her, in the end all of it).

Personally, I rather agree…in that I’ve worked around enough RF and strong magnetic fields (analyzing magnets in a photon mass spectrometer) to have had the warnings and experienced the occasional headache myself. Believe what you may, be warned, use cautiously.

sure guys radiowaves are not a good thing to have around…
Many wonder for the wifi and etc…
Sweedish research laboratory even mentions DNA degeneration in the surrounding area like in the old days that having a belt cell phone case was a must.
Or having the cel phone for 8+ hours next to your head while u sleep.Power cords in the wall behind your bed where accused for some creating issues imagine a cellphone and a wireless device in general… (specially in EU were voltage is higher)
But I wouldn’t mind all those that much when we have the satellites bathing us all day long… specially when we are outdoors… radars… and those wonderful comms towers for uplinks for business internet or intranet connections, that are supposed to work on legal margins.
The cumulative is enormous but I don’t think anything can save us… sure if u can avoid it as much as we can is ideal but u cant actually avoid it.
We have 5 wifi AP’s at home to enjoy the internet as fast as we can…

…I’ll try to add something actually useful - I’ve read here that if you plan to use voice control software, a wired mic/headset works better than a wireless one. I conjecture that this is a latency/freq/bandwidth related issue of some sort - especially with bluetooth, which isn’t really bandwidth optimal for audio in any case. A wifi connected mic/headset may fare better…but the Community seems to advocate for wired.
I think I recall reading that folks were having better com during multi-player using wired headsets too?

Something people dont necessarily think about:
If you are using headtracking gear, your headset needs to support it so you can clip that gear to it.
I changed headset just because of this. The older one actually had better sound
But at least on the new one my LED point model used for OpenTrack doesnt fall off every few minutes.
