Flounder's X52 Pro Keyfile/DX Profile for BMS 4.33

That’s Awesome!!! Is there a doc that explains what the codes represent for the varies HOTAS buttons and keyboard keys? In other words, how would I have known that “….4 -1 -2 0 0x0 -1” is for the Fire C button? Regardless, thanks again for the quick and informative response.
There is a document that explains the parts of the command lines. x:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\Key Files & Input\BMS Key File Manual.pdf . The description for DX begins in section 6.2.
That has to be matched to a ‘map’ of the HOTAS …. which button on a HOTAS is which DX number (see post #1 in this tread, for example).

The part that matters for knowing it is the Fire C button is the button number, bolded above. In the keyfile they run from DX 0 - 31, so there’s an ‘offset’ of one … Button 1 is DX 0, button 2 is DX 1, etc. So we’re looking for DX 4, which is button 5. Match that to the button map for the HOTAS:

What is the delta between these two .key files? Which .key file is represented by the included .jpg images from the zip file? Are the ICP buttons mapped differently between the two .key files? I am currently using Flounder X52 Pro v5.key and all functions work great, except for one. I can’t seem to get the “ICP Drift c/o Warn” to work by pressing the Shift + NumPadSum keys. All other ICP and MFD keys work flawlessly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve worked with them closely, but there should be no functional difference. The difference should be that the ‘full’ keyfile has the full list of available commands included, with many un-mapped (no key assigned … "0XFFFFFFFF "). The ‘non-full’ should only include the mapped keys … i.e., not all the commands, but whatever is included is mapped.
I normally recommend using the “full” keyfile so if you want to add something the command is there and it’s just a matter of mapping it.
Here are the commands from the non-full:
SimDriftCO 121 0 0x4E 0 0 0 1 “ICP-Drift C/O Toggle”
SimWarnReset 115 0 0x4E 1 0 0 1 “ICP-Warning reset”And here are the commands from the ‘full’ keyfile (inactive commands greyed out):
SimDriftCO 121 0 0x4E 0 0 0 1 “ICP: DRIFT C/O Switch - Tog. ON/NORM!”
SimDriftCOOn 121 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 1 “ICP: DRIFT C/O Switch - ON”
SimDriftCOOff 121 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 1 “ICP: DRIFT C/O Switch - NORM”
SimWarnReset 115 0 0x4E 1 0 0 1 “ICP: DRIFT C/O Switch - WARN RESET”They look the same to me. ??

Roger that! I believe the problem may be with the F4BMS 4.33 U4 game itself since selecting the WARN RESET switch from the 2D or 3D cockpit view has no effect with extinguishing the MASTER CAUTION light, or I might just have a poor understanding of the WARN RESET switch functionality.

Operator Error in this instance - the WARN RESET on the ICP doesn’t extinguish the MASTER CAUTION light - it clears the WARN message from the HUD. You depress the MC light directly to do it. If it doesn’t extinguish it due to damage to other systems, it can be done via the ELEC panel. The Dash-1 manual does a good job of explaining all this far better than I can.

Roger That!! Thanks - Remove & Replace Operator - Lol.

Hi All. I need some help. For some reason I cannot get the shift function to work on my X52 PRO using Flounder’s profile.
I’ve come back to the Sim after playing Falcon 3 in my younger days and attempting Falcon BMS but had to abort that attempt due to lack of time and frustration with the learning curve.
I have a much better mindset now and a bit more time. Before even attempting to fly I’ve committed myself to being able to set up my controller the way I want it. I’ve spent the better part of a full week reading and digesting the Key related manuals. I think I have a decent understanding (famous last words!).
My HOTAS is a few years old or so. I bought it on my initial attempt at BMS. I have updated the driver software this week. Previously my driver software only dealt in .dat files. Now it uses .pr0 files. So I think I am all set there.
I’ve tried or checked everything I can think of. I’ve tried all the Flounder key files. I’m using Flounders .pr0 file for the HOTAS. Within the Falcon config the magnitude is at 256. I’ve checked and unchecked the “enable clutch mode” within the controller software. I’ve held down the pinky button for varying degrees of time.
I believe I’ve tried every possible permutation. The unshifted functions work fine. However, when I press the pinky switch I still get the same unshifted function instead of the shifted function. This is all based on the feedback I am seeing at the controller set up screen within Falcon BMS 4.33
As an aside. I also tried Scuby’s profile and the shift function works fine in that case. But I see where he does not use any Dx buttons. Not entirely sure the significance of that.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ruy: the shift functions may still work even though they do not show up on the controller screen. It is the same way for me. Enter BMS and try it in flight.

Correct. You won’t see them ‘working’ in the controller setup UI, but they will still work in game (assuming they are in fact working).

Many thanks ckelly14 and Agave! You were 100% correct. The shift function works fine within BMS flight. I can’t believe I didn’t think to try it there……duh. Maybe there is such a thing as being too methodical. I did mention I was committing to understanding and setting up my HOTAS properly before I even attempted flying but it just shows you that one can be a bit too rigid in those things. Now back to my nose in the manuals with a little flying (or crashing) here and there to keep the blood flowing!

Hey can someone please help me. I have watched the youtube vid and seem to be installing everything right but nothing is showing up in the Saitek software editor and apart from controlling the plane with the stick and throttle only a few other buttons seem to work T5 works for landing gear I can move the range with the throttle scroll wheel and some others. I have discord and teamspeak I’m a noob with them too but if I could get any help on this it would be great. I played Allied Force with a simple cheap joystick but now have the HOTAS and head tracking and BMS 4.33 U5 my driver and software are the new Logitech ones for windows 10. Any help to get me set up and flying would be awesome and I am willing to join a online group to do training with as well.

Do you have any other devices beside the X52 Pro and TrackIR? For example, rudders, MFD’s, a G13 type keypad, another controller, etc.?
If yes, one of the most common problems is device order. Find the file x:\……\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\User\Config\DeviceSorting.txt . Open that file with Notepad or any plain text editor. Make sure the X-52 Pro is the first device in the list.
Also … just checking … you’re using the X-52 Pro, right? The regular X-52 has different buttons/button numbering than the pro version.

where is the wheel brake

used the no trackir keyfile but there is no wheel brakes

If you used the keyfile code in this post: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?23661-Flounder-s-X52-Pro-Keyfile-DX-Profile-for-BMS-4-33&p=349137&viewfull=1#post349137
The wheel brakes are mapped as Pinky + Second Trigger Detent. It shows in the keyfile code:
….
#==================================================================================
SimDoNothing -1 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 -2 “========= HOTAS SHIFTED =========”
SimWheelBrakes 256 -1 -2 0 0x0 -1……
Are you having problems with any other shifted functions? Are you trying the shift functions in-game or in the UI? They won’t show properly in the UI and need to be tested/tried in-game.
