Just an idea I wanted to bounce off everyone.

Talking to ex Viper pilots from Hill AFB about refueling in falcon they told me it’s actually easier in real life because you can feel when you are accelerating/decelerating which makes staying with the tanker much easier… I was wondering since there’s no way to duplicate the feeling in the sim, what about some type of visual cue like along the bottom of the screen like fading in some blue along bottom when decelerating and red when accelerating… the faster your accelerating the less opaque it is, something like that… just an idea.

If it isn’t realistic……It won’t happen!
That’s why the Arcade mode was removed.

What’s not realistic about being able to feel the acceleration? Yeah they can’t make you feel, your brain is just receiving that information visually instead of from the G forces. The point is getting the information to the brain, regardless of how it gets there…… that’s not arcade mode. It’s not like I’m asking for the new Ace Combat game or somethin

What’s not realistic about being able to feel the acceleration?
Is it in the real F16??

Your telling me F-16 pilots can’t feel when they are speeding up or slowing down? because i can feel it in a car, and that’s a 4 banger. Plus i got the idea from what an ex pilot was telling me i met at the comedy club last week. I’m just looking at a way to translate that sensation into the game that’s feasable.
-
What hat you pulling this stuff out of??? I never said anything of the sort??
C9
-
Well your claiming that my idea isn’t realistic. True it’s not the same as feeling those G forces as you go into burn, but it’s a way to let your brain get that intel that you would be getting in real life.

Is what in the real F-16? I’m not saying add some instrument that doesn’t exist, I’m saying in the same way they simulate black out and red out, having some minor effect to show if the plane is speeding up or slowing down, to visualize that sensation. It would probably be more trouble than it’s worth to program into the game I know, it was just a thought. I’m not asking they transform BMS into H.A.W.X. or something

the same way they simulate black out and red out
That’s there because it actually happens in the REAL F16!!!

It may be harder to AAR in the sim, but once you get used to the visual cues, you don’t need any indication for the acceleration / deceleration.
Having that indicator, no matter how small or large it is, might annoy some people (even those that need it during AAR), especially in situations where it provides no extra benefit, which in general equals 95 - 99% of your flight time. Unless you’re training for a Thunderbirds-formation, but again, visual cues > indicator, because if you have to shift focus between the formation and the indicator, you’re going to wobble anyway. -
And pilots actually feel when they are speeding up and slowing down in the REAL F-16!!! Since everyone can’t have a hydrolic motion sim in their bedroom, why not display that visually since it’s the only way to provide that info in a game? It’s not even a big deal, but it sure as hell some thing that isn’t in the real F-16 like your implying
-
Look at the bottom of the tankers. The visual cues are the lights. Real pilots use these. Does the same thing as the idea proposed in the OP.
-
See, now eagle eye has a real valid response and I agree with him, I just want to fly thunderbird formation in the game, lol. I don’t know where you come from Cloud 9.

Speed in the Helmet mounted display can help as a visual que for acceleration
I can certainly tell if I am accelerating by looking at the tanker.
Also after practice you get used to how much you need to move the throttle to move back and forward smoothly. -
I reminded “Enthusia” racing sim from PS2 that had a transparent gray frame to visualize side G.
I guess “Is it in the real F16??” by Cloud 9 means “you don’t have a visual cue in the real F-16 so that should not be in the sim”.
By the way is there Smart Scaling in real F-16?
-
Yes, because the entire point of smart scaling is to preserve angular size. Your monitor would make them too small without the scaling.
