Some questions about Falca's Weapon Delivery Planner
-
How is this program supposed to be used? Is it a program that will automatically create for me all the steerpoints, and all the threat circles and all the targets etc, and then I can just load it into my DTC and forget all the hustle of doing all of the planning myself? If yes, what is the correct procedure of doing that? Because I’m confused;
When I load WDP and load one of my saved missions, I then find my flight and then a message comes up, asking whether or not I saved my DTC in BMS… and then regardless of what I chose it gives me this error https://imgur.com/a/rpBCa3C
1st of all, what should I choose; Yes or No? For WDP to automatically create the steerpoints, threat circles, threat steerpoints etc? (if that is possible). And why am I getting this error?
And finally, what exactly should I do after this step?
Thanks

google(video, Weapon Delivery Planner) and you will get quite a few hits. Most are a bit old but should get you started. Here’s a link to a video by Cloud.
Manual

So WDP will indeed create stuff like threats circles for example, automatically right? I just want to make sure that I understand what the program is for.
Ok yes I saw the video even before downloading the program, but I’m not sure I’m doing it correctly…
For starters, when should I click “save DTC” button? In the video he clicks the button after pressing takeoff alt-tabbing and hitting save DTC then… I don’t understand that, and nowhere in the manuals does it tell you to do it this way… So is this the correct way to do it? Plus the weapon’s page never comes up when I click on my flight as the manuals say it supposed to happen…
Can you tell me how you use it? From what I understood watching this video is that I just open falcon, then open WDP, load the mission, find the flight, click NO, and then what? Has everything automatically created? Or is there something else that I should do… Please Man help me out over here cuz my English are not helping me too much!

Hi Nuke,
About the part with the alt+tab etc. No need for this. In BMS MP flights it is a good practise to click the flight (upper left frag order), then your jet (your name basically) and then save the DTC, then take off. No biggie: it’s just one of those BMS things. And no that’s not in the manual, it’s a ‘best practise’ because sometime the TGP won’t be on the jet or the DTC doesn’t display a PPT (threat circle) in the HSD you might have put in.
So with that out of the way: the WDP program is a stand alone program that reads and writes in your ‘ini’ and ‘config’ file. This file dictates your DTC contents and most of your settings in the jet. From RWR setting to ALOW settings, EWR and your MFD programs and so on and so on. Basically everything.
So you can start WDP and flip through the pages and set everything up the way you want/need. From PPT’s to lines (these are easier in BMS to do and more accurate). to frequencies and so on. Then start BMS, go to your mission and the DTC contents should be right there. If not: load your DTC but most of the time it will pre-load when you enter the briefing map. Anything you add at this point like PPT’s or a change in EWR settings or frequencies will be saved to the DTC.
No need to get out of BMS. Personally I start it in windowed mode in case I have to load my HOTAS profile which I forget regularly but that is off topic
Does this help and/or answers your questions?

Nuke,
See WDP as a flight planning aid
Personally I mostly used WDP to create datacards. these can be printed or converted to DDS that are used in the kneeboards of the pilot model in the 3D cockpit
Beside editing datacards, WDP can plot Offset bombing attacks with OA, VIP& VRP. Again, personally i don’t use them as i fly my popups with manual settings, like the ones explained in the GP bomb training mission
WDP can also edit comm cards useful for MP big comao missions.
Regarding the PPT you are mentioning, WDP does (as far as i know) nothing more than what you can do in the TE editor in the UI. You are able to set the PPT and lines from there as well
it is quite possible to do in WDP, but it is redundant and works the same way as in the UI
Same for the DTC settings. Most of what you can do with WDP, you can do as well in the DTC tab of the UI. There are some stuff that WDP can edit more than what’s in the UI because it reads both the pilot.ini file and the TE.ini file.I don’t trust WDP to mess with the DTC, i prefer to do it on my own, through the UI or by editing manually the pilot.ini file. But yes WDP is able to create DTC files like the MFD settings, cockpit save states, etc etc
Hope that helps

Thank you Buster and Red Dog for your help!
So about automation, is there anything that WDP does automatically? Or is WDP just a better way to set things on your own? That’s what I still don’t understand Is there a button to make WDP to create threat circles? Or create extra steerpoints for my mission targets? Automaticaly?
Ok nice, when I click my flight it brings up a message asking me whether or not I saved my DTC in BMS or not; Then it says that if I click Yes STPT data will load from the DTC and if No the STPT will load from the mission… So for a flight that I did changed my steerpoints I should click Yes correct?
What I still don’t understand is, the Callsign.ini and the Mission.ini whats the difference between them? When I go to my DTC tab, it says “open callsign.ini” and “open mission.ini” when should I fiddle with each one of them, or should I just leave them alone?
For example in the STPT tab when I load a mission I can copy Mission.ini to Callsign.ini or copy Callsign.ini to Mission.ini … so what’s the deal here, I don’t understand
Or in the Map tab, at I can view DTC file from Callsign or Mission, what is the difference between them?
I hope I didn’t tire you too much! Thank you Buster and Red Dog so much guys! If I have more questions I will let you guys know

you’re right, using 2 files for the DTC may sound confusing
But think of it this way.
The DTC may have pilots psecific settings and Mission specific settingsFor instance MFD page menu are DTC items. They are not quite mission specific but Pilot specific, that’s taken from the the pilot.ini
Steerpoints onthe other hands are mission specific not pilot specific, they are taken from the TE.ini
The code knows that but WDP has no way to know which one should overide the other, hence why it asks you the questionThat’s the reason BMS needs both for a full DTC

One thing I’ve found nice is that it shows you visually where all the threat points with areas that your intel officer knows about. I find in the 2d map when battalions are stacking and stuff, its sometimes hard to find that sam battallion in the mess. WDP scans for known sams when you open your campaign and then lets you easily select them by clicking a couple buttons to add them to dtc, changing them from yellow to red area circles automatically to show you which you have selected. IIRC you can only have 15 PP threat points, so sometimes its nice to be able to see and choose the ones that are a threat to your specific mission to put into your DTC.
