Eurofighter Typhoon
-
Gents,
I’m back to business, having just replaced my 11.5 years old Laptop with a brand new PC. This finally enables me to enjoy the latest flavour of F4.
As I’m primarily flying the Typhoon, I want to enhance it a bit for BMS 4.33U5 and am aiming for a mod for the NTO Polar Vortex theater. As time is still a constraint for me I’ll limit it to what is achieveable for me within a reasonable amount of time. That means no work on a 3D pit or other graphical artwork.
The package I envisiage will add corrected weight fuel fuel loads, somewhat improved controm surface animation behaviour, my own flight model, corrected weapon loadouts and chaff/flare dispenser locations and loadout. Mission types for the campaign engine will be tailored, as will the squadron stores to ensure all of them are available in the campaign. I have altered the avionics options to best match the EF. I’ll also offer my old RAF, RSAF, AAF and IAF skins for the old 3D model which is still present in the stock BMS 4.33 version and the UK version in the Nordic Theater.
I have added the GBU-48 as an additional weapon to the DB and am thinking about a GBU-49 as a Paveway IV substitute.
I’m interested in your opinions on the following features:
1.) My FM is single engined as the F4 engine does not support fuel flow tables for twin engined aircraft as of now. Can you live with it or are you more interested in in twin engined model with no fuel flow table. Option 3 would be to include both and leave you the choice.2.) The weapon loadouts for the current aircraft are still somewhat limited. For the RAF version I would envisage a P3E loadout with ASRAAM, AMRAAM, METEOR, GBU-49, Brimstone and Storm Shadow. The GAF version would feature IRIS-T, AMRAAM, METEOR and GBU-48. I could opt for some of the weapons projected to be integrated throughout the coming years as well. Let me know your opinion on the subject.
Dependent on time I aim for a release by the end of this month.
Regards

Hi,
Sounds nice!
What Do you think about a New Cockpit and aircraft model?
Chees
Tom -
Good morning.
So much interesting project… so. let’s see in order.
@Scorpion:
to 1), I’d like a two engines FM (not original thought, but of course )
to 2), eerrr… sorry for bothering, but what’s for AMI (Italian Air Force)? We have EFA too, as you know@ Tom Catz: it sounds nice and wonderful! Thumbs up to you, as usual.
With best regards,
-
Hi Tom Catz,
a new 3D pit would be highly desireable. A new external model would be nice as well. If your question aims at whether I intend to develop either, then I have to disappoint you. I lack the skills, experience, tools and time for it. I could at best support defining its functional concept with the in sim callbacks, as far as buttons/switches are concerned, but that’s it. I have messed around a bit with Qawa’s pit many years ago to no avail.
Hi Jackal,
An AMI Typhoon would be possible using the stock external 3D model as I’m not going to create new skins for a different one. Weapon options would in this case comprise at least IRIS-T, AMRAAM, METEOR, GBU-16 & 48. I could offer this as an optional install.
I think I’ll offer both FMs for choice.
-
Hello, Scorpion,
it would be fine, I guess. Thanks.
Would it be useful to you in case could I learn more about actual AMI EFAs loadout in real life? Can’t assure this in advance as an easy matter, though.With best regards,
-
Hi Jackal,
don’t worry I’m well Aware of the possible weapon configs used by all EF Operators. Those weapons listed above are those available for the real Aircraft atm or in the near future. The Primary Question is whether at least some weapon Options envisaged for future Standards should be added for Gameplay reasons or not. At the end of the day the configurator from the BMS launcher is easy to use and allows you to quickly Change the loadouts yourself. I will have a Sleep over this and Maybe some additional opinions as well.

hm…. me thinks… but i can’t help for the cockpit though, Even if i did some baby steps its too complicated to me to make a working cockpit… now for a 3d model i will think about it as soon i finish up the rest i have started or ill start it as well… only future will tell

Hi,
I hope that one day I will be able to release my Typhoon pit and airframe to BMS. Here are some older WIP pics made last year …. (very early…)
Cheers

Looks very nice !

BMS can handle the fuel flow of multi engines just fine

Hi Scorpion,
That sounds super awesome!
Though, the chaff/flare dispenser location looks like a tough nut to crack since getting the coordinates for the location of the dispenser on the model…well, let’s just say LODEditor doesnt help a lot… -

Hi Mav-jp,
I mean to remember that I have tried it when 4.33 was released. But maybe I’m becoming too old. Thank you for the advise. I will check it out, would be even better.
@Yuri,
the dispenser locations and vectors are defined within the dat file, so that’s no issue and a feature that’s readily available since 2005 for the Typhoon.
@Tom,
looks good. Are there any particular aspects where you need help or is it a question of time?
Best regards -

Best regardsjust look in the F18 FM files, they use fuelflow with multi engine no problem

@Scorpion: yes, editing the location is easy, but finding the correct coordinates for the correct location to replace the current one is eeeeh….not so easy(From my experience of changing the countermeasure buttons location for the mirage cockpit). Well if you throw enough time into it, it’ll work out in the end.
-
Hi Yuri,
I know what you mean. It’s quite a bit of a hazzle but manageable when you only need to edit a few data.
@All,
I have basically completed the package. The Flight model has been updated a bit and it now works twin engined with fuel flow tables.
For the weapons I have opted for a slightly altered layout based on the current P2E/P3E Standards with minor modifications of future load and weapon Options.
I recommend that users planning to fly Aircraft of other Operators (such as Italian) download Bloodhounds Typhoon Skins and use them with the German Aircraft.
I have included the 3D pit with proper wings for the RAF Version as well.Have a nice Weekend

It could be nice if you can made some license plates same as other aircraft… some of us are operating eurofighter and its a little bit frustating photos with repetitive aircraft… so there is an future option if you can/want to add
-
License plates derive from the model, the code or what? In other word how can you add them?

Both!
The model it self has to have the “switch” and the geometries attached for the license plates,and the numbers/letters or whatever you want for each plane. Then the code reads this switch and gives different state for each different aircraft see post on my Phantom thread for the F-4G or the early f-4E witch i managed in G to add a plane with a frameless wind shield and the early E 2 planes with midas gun muzzle and 2 with the early short muzzle besides the serial numbers. The most important thing for this to work is the model to have the switch and its different states -
Hello together,
the NTP PV members and me agreed to include the Eurofighter Typhoon mod into the NTO PV 2.4 release, which can be found here.
The feature list can be found here.
As I know that some questions will likely arise about the weapon loads. These are both in terms of weapon options and loadouts reflecting what is cleared for use by German and British aircraft at the P2Eb and P3Ea standards respectively.
As far as the skins are concerned I only have those for the old 3D model, which has been there ever since FF2. The UK Typhoon in the NTO PV theater still uses it and the features list subsequently contains only the RAF skins.
I have uploaded all skins for the old 3D model here. I don’t really know/understand what’s being meant with regards to the licence thingy. If you like you can modify the skins yourself and redistribute your modded versions. The skins are also approved for use by the BMS team and any theater dev team who continue to use the old 3D model.
The current DDS numbers are 2461 to 2468 which are used for the UK Typhoon. If you use the stock BMS 4.33 install where the old 3D model is applicable to both versions of the aircraft you will need to rename the dds files from 2461-2468 to 2469-2476.
The 7z file contains five folders each with two versions of either the German, Austrian, Italian, British and Saudi skins respectively. You need to copy the dds files into the Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj folder of the respective theater. It should be ensured that the old 3D model is contained and the original dds files shall be backed up before!Regards
