FPS drop above increment cloud in 4.34
-
Hello,
Thank you for providing us with the nice and excellent flight simulator.
I have lots of frame drops in increment weather above clouds in 4.34.
I set ‘low resolution cloud’ in configuration but it was same.In the previous version (4.33), i hit the frame over 80 frame it dropped to 30 frame i cannot control the plane.
In 4.34, has the model of cloud been changed? Thanks,
-
yes.
-
Is there any options to reduce the resolution or something else?
In manual, BMS-Manual.pdf p56 line7, mentions "Please note the 4.33 FPS impact of clouds has been reduced in 4.34. " but my case is not.
Thanks,
-
the cloud impact in inclement or poor is similar that the one in FAIR with medium sliders in term of density
above or below should make no difference
i am a little dry on that one ?

Thanks,
Try checking the Low Resolution of Clouds option in Config/Hardware. It helped greatly in my case.
Edit: Sorry - you did just that, disregard my post. -
I also lose some frames here. The mav TE shows it the most.

I found FPS quest in the BMS-Technical-Manual.pdf page41.
It mentions that
There are four BMS features that may have an impact on FPS on older hardware:
- Autogen trees/grass
- Clouds. Cloud impact on FPS has been improved in 4.34 but you may actually draw more clouds now
than with 4.33 so the FPS effect might be even. Moving the autogen slider position to the left and
drawing fewer cumulus clouds might decrease the graphical workload and increase FPS. - Autogen trees/grass density
- Multisampling
- Antialiasing
It recommends to move the autogen slider of clouds to the left.
But where is the auto-generation slider of clouds in setting? Thanks,

Exactly! Where is this autogen slider for clouds to draw fewer clouds???

You can choose density of clouds in the weather page
However this is valid only for fair weather

Clouds really awful reduce fps, in my case, see below

TE: Benchmark Test
FPS:
- Ramp
- TGP off: 19-21
- TGP on: 18-20
- Airborne, below cloud deck
- TGP off: 28-32
- TGP on: 26-30
- Airborne, above cloud deck
- TGP off: 19-21
- TGP on: 18-20
When I change the weather to sunny or fair:
- Ramp
- TGP off: 40-48
- TGP on: 39-46
- Airborne
- TGP off: 50-60
- TGP on: 48-56
