Hi Raptor!!
Any news about final release and Link?Thx for your work!!
-
RL work takes about 14 hours per day last months (migrating infrastructure to Azure), so very few free time to play with them atm. They are however 95% ready, only add some extras, and work on the bms patches files and camo.cfg for the new options. Its top on the list, so hold tight.

Thx for your effort my friend!! You know… RL sometimes is hard, but a priority. Take your time, no hurries for this

U5 ready, should be final version to start packing.

Very nice collection Raptor. Thanks for the work you have put into this
-
Nicely done!

I was actually expecting these patches to be in 4.34, in particular those of the virtual squadrons. Any chance we can still get that to happen in U1?
-
I hope the next 2-3 weeks to find the time to close the pack, prepare the necessary files etc. Then will go public for the community. If no issues are reported and devs consider this a valuable addition, sure they can add them officially.

Hi Raptor,
Please be careful with adding patches/pilots to the resource files.
We maxed out on the number of possible internal indexes already. The resource file does not know that, you can keep adding images there as you like, but what happens when you exceed the maximum number is that suddenly patch/pilot pictures do not match their names anymore etc., that was the reason why we introduced the possibility to externally add patches/pilots in the <bms>\User\Patches</bms> directory.
If you could provide the link to your great work in advance, we can make necessary tests.
Just fire a PM.
Cheers,
Nick -
Sure Nick, give me some time to also test myself and I will ping you.

Any new on this please thanks

I always had a passion of collecting squadron and military patches, not only in physical form but up to digital versions too, so through the years my DB collection populated with all kind of art, at least for some parts of the world…
Quite some time ago I decided not only to digitalize most, but to also standardize the quality and resolution, from high-res versions (as I could get best) down to 256x256 pixel icons graphics that are also converted to desktop icons (.ico) for using by windows system as necessary.
At a point I decided to focus on enhancing BMS as I could, so after months of dedicated work for this aspect Ikaros RC 4.1.0 theater introduced 263 new patches, some only part of this work. (If you have installed the theater you can take a preview look at the documentation folder located to: C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Add-On Ikaros\Docs\Patches).
Now it is time to step forward and help BMS benefit some more moving to new art. We have now reached 714 new patches in their Falcon -standard resolution of 96x96 pixels, all edited one-by-one from their original high-res versions. You can view below preview shots of what will be included in a release package.
Some of these patches come from my personal collection, others varying from close friends, up to official MOD’s internet pages, dedicated SQ sites, F-16.net, and specific Instagram collectors. Where appropriate I have been granted permissions from original authors to use specific patches for BMS, but these mostly cover some 170 additional patches that will be only included in future EMF & IKAROS Theaters versions, since are specifically focused to the countries in the area (HAF - THK - Cyprus - Israel), thus no point to integrating in a generic release. Theaters will come with dedicated credits for all individuals that approved the use of their work or material and for converting to our tiny (as used by game UI) resolution.
The final package will include the new patches.idx & patches.rsc files containing this artwork. You will need to manually replace (overwrite) the original files located (for the default Korea theater) to C:\Falcon BMS 4.3x\Data\Art\resource\ path, or additional similar paths as per 3rd party theaters. (Always keep backups of the originals as a standard). The old vs new patches have been checked to drop the outdated / low-quality etc ones.
I will leave the release ETA window open for at least some weeks, hearing suggestions. Feel free to comment for fixes, possible errors, or help gather additional content you may want to see incorporated to a public release for our community. I will also be gladly offering this artwork to devs for a possible incorporation to any future releases if they wish so.
BTW for the ones not already knowing this, the excellent Mission Commander tool has the option to set the squadron unit callsign and patch photo on an already created and saved mission, moreover aligning these with models skins and tailarts / license plates (through some extra type-work on camo.cfg and imageids.id files), thus be able to set beautifully the basic parameters for realistic Order Of Battle layout. You can preview the below shot to understand how these patches pictures can enhance the gameplay, not only to just selecting an SQ patch photo in the logbook area UI but down to the mission planning.

Below the work done by now as per initial post (date).
F-16 user swirls patches ( 30 ). All the worldwide users-art is located here, plus the extra-rare for Japan F-2. LM doesn’t actually counts the F-2 as an F-16, counting the WW users to 29, but since the patch exists this can no way miss the list here IMO. These patches originating from high-res art images. Update 5

F-16 flight hour patches ( 21 ), plus a couple special. None reached 7k yet.

Last but now least, patches for all; our active Virtual Squadrons around the globe ( 137 ). I have deeply searched as best as I could to locate and crosscheck data prior to incorporating the best hi-res patches. Feel free to update me in case of errors! Update 5

Hi Nick, I have been looking for the documentation that explains how to add a patch to the user dirs, but no luck. I have tried it with a 96x96 tga but it always looks like pixels in the game ui. Any help for an old Tanker guy? Lol
