ATIS received in backup?
-
Is it normal to receive ATIS from Backup in rampstart?
-
Is it possible to set ATIS frequency in backup?
-
Atis is a VHF frequency
the backup radio is UHFneed more info

I know that…but it seems not to work well
this is why I was surprised to hear ATIS during the rampstart whereas I was always in Backup
FYI: I had put ATIS frequency to preset VHF 13 …and in my case, I had forgotten that VHF 13 was also checked in DTC comm

VHF reception works fine in backup. It used to be that VHF was not controllable in B/U CNI but looks like in 4.34 it is so just use it. I’m not sure if DTC loads pre-DTC channelization like UHF BUP. I’ll have to test. But you should be able to type in known ATIS freq into backup DED directly.

Config file can be set to have a DTC loaded on ramp as opposed to having to load it through the DTE manually. Otherwise the VHF does not work in back-up mode and the freq. punch in is for UHF. ATIS is on VHF

Read more carefully. VHF absolutely works with CNI knob in BACK UP position. You interface with the radio through DED. What cannot be done is operate from battery; main power is needed. VHF transmit and receive work with or without UFC. However UFC is required to change frequency/channel and bandwidth preference.
Procedure
Main power switch, MAIN PWR
COMM 2 knob, Increase
Press VHF transmit and note lack of sound confirming no VHF operation on batteryJet fuel switch, START 2
Throttle, Idle at 20% and wait for engine start
Press VHF transmit and note sound confirming VHF operation on main electrical powerUFC power switch, UFC and wait for DED display
Note DED display “VHF 13” and reserve video when VHF transmit
Enter local ATIS into COMM2 DED page and receive ATISChange VHF to 122.8 for distant airstrip tower communication
UFC power switch, OFF
Request departure and hear replyDefault VHF channels are equal to the DTC values. Oddly when I edited the VHF channels before loading DTE they remained edited instead of being overwritten by DTE load. Also INC-DEC rocker doesn’t function with CNI in BACKUP.

i read “in rampstart” on his post so I was thinking he is pre-engine start => on battery
