Can't start F16 in 4.34

1st of all I had NO PROBLEM starting up the plane in 4.33
2nd 100% of the times I get a hot start
manual reads• SEC caution light goes off around 20% RPM (before moving throttle).
• FTIT should increase to around 600-650° then decrease to 500° at idle.
If you see FTIT rising at an alarming rate or go above 750°C you are
encountering a hot start; immediately pull the throttle back to CUTOFF
and let the FTIT decrease to 200°C while the JFS is running, before
moving the throttle back to IDLE.well I hit 600-650°C about the same time I have 20% rpm. Throttle back to cut off does nothing AT ALL. FTIT rise constantly up to 1100°C and stays there. regardless of anything else. RPM goes up to 35% and back to 0, again regardless to anything else.
There is no variation, this happens every single time.
And yes all the bindings are just fine; if I start the game on Taxi everything works just fine, but that is just unacceptable for me.Any ideas on what I should try?

first was unchecked, then i checked it, then assigned the command to the throttles’s cutoff button. is all the same.

In 4.33 you could star the plain without it and had a small window after the engine when you could start it since Air suppose to be for cooling the electronics. I will see about the video, quite frankly I am struggling for a month now and I am worn-out. Thank you for your time. Much appreciated.

I had a similar problem earlier, and ultimately found that the throttle was ‘stuck’ at 50% and not responding to throttle movement on the TQS. Make sure the throttle is ‘seen’ to be working in the UI’s SETUP > CONTROLLERS page.

It is seen for sure, I can fly just fine if I go to Taxi. I just can’t start up the plane.

Grasping at straws… in 4.33 we had to move the throttle forward some distance, callback for detent (Alt-I), then pull throttle back to idle position. In 4.34 you do not need to push the throttle forward before detent… you may be introducing too much fuel causing the hot start… good luck

if the throttle position doesnt matter at all to the results, sounds like its a controls input issue somewhere. Either throttle position not being reported correctly (seems unlikely) or the idle detent not being used properly.
To troubleshoot that, it would help to know the configuration you are using. It sounds like you are not using the Idle Cutoff config option?

The way I start it is I have the idle cut off unchecked in the config panel. I set my afterburner and idle cut off detentes in the set up panel. I set the idle cut off button on my throttle. I make sure the canopy is down switch the electrics from battery to master, then hit the starter switch. When the rpm hit 25 % I hit my idle cut off button on the throttle. Starts every time like that.

If the idle cutoff config option is not enabled then idle line in setup doesn’t make any difference. Don’t move the canopy during the start. It can be down or up but not in motion.
My estimation is that there is some reason that throttle is not remaining in off position. Try to do a start but do not advance the throttle at all. The RPM should maximize at 25% or so and then after a minute fall back to zero without a rise in FTIT. If you get a hot start when not advancing throttle then that’s a control issue.

The reason you’ve had to do that is not to do with 4.33; the VERY FIRST thing you should ALWAYS do when entering the pit is move the throttle all the way forward and back so that the sim can detect the position of the throttle and ‘sync up’. Once you’ve done that, you can simply go to OFF position, JFS START, wait to ~20% SEC off, move to idle and check temps and so on*; there should be no tricks or dancing with throttle positions to get the ‘idle detent’ callback to work.
*Obviously I’m simplifying/summarising the steps for brevity.

Does your throttle have a physical idle and AB detent like the Cougar does? If so, you want to adjust their position to where you’re happy, then set the idle position and right click on the AB Detent button in BMS setup (after enabling idle cutoff in the config). This will give the game the postion of where the idle/OFF line is, meaning you will no longer need to press alt I.
However, if you do not have detents, I’d recommend sticking with alt i, as you will constantly switch the engine to OFF by bringing the throttle too far back without a physical stop.

For that checkbox ticked condition, you need instead to set the idle cutoff position of your throttle in the setup window. Go to setup -> controllers. Move the throttle, confirm it is moving in the window. Left click the Set AB button to set the afterburner position. Move the throttle to the desired idle cutoff position (slightly forward of the aft most position your throttle has) and then RIGHT click the Set AB button. You should now have a red line and a green line in the throttle position box.
On your test ramp start, you should note the throttle can move freely. Start with the throttle aft of the idle cutoff position you defined (ideally just all the way back). Once the JFS reaches at least 20% RPM, advance the throttle just past the point you defined the idle cutoff position for.
Note that with the idle cutoff checkbox in config checked, there is no use of the idle detent callback at all. You just use your physical throttle solely.

If you have CH throttle push it all way from min to max couple times before first engine start at single game game session when you get in cockpit.

Had multiple hot starts as well in 4.34 and found out the issue was my physical throttle wasn’t in sync with the sim’s throttle.
As a result many times, even if your physical throttle is at the right position, the sim’s throttle is actually forward and introducing fuel >> since JFS is not at ideal RPM you get a hot start.
Hence…as mentioned earlier here…once in cockpit first thing is move your physical throttle all the way forward and aft till the sim’s throttle follows it. -

Sorry for the late reply but I was very busy in the last week. You are right. It turns out that if you are using the cut-off option in the config, the game will not register the cockpit mouse click, nor other key bindings. I just turned that option off in the config and everything works just fine. Thank you very much. A falcon can fly again
