Adding new planes in 4.34
-
I thought that the original question was how to add a new aft on the db, from scratch. Not just replace one with a better/newer model.
after all this time why don’t they come with a installer

They certainly would do if it were just a matter of adding some files and changes a few ini file entries. Falcon 4.0 was never designed to support a mod community. As frustrating as this may be, this isn’t because people purposely want to make things difficult for you.

Yea but for the last 20 - 30? Years it’s a mod in total, core BMS, theaters, and all others coming from the community.
It’s because it’s basic architecture was not modal.
Now with the new db things can be scripted and be done easier for the inexperienced user.
I believe it’s just cause it’s too soon.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

There is no installer possible here.
It has to be done manually (because Installer can’t know what CT will have to be used because CT indexing is evolutive and variable depending in what is already present and in what order a/c has been added) and mostly because adding a/c is not suposed to be done by iser…. Simply because if is scrubbing his install in some ways. TE created wont be compatible with another user who do not have this suplemental a/c in his DB and/or the CT is not the same … etc …
Same applies with textures. No way to ensure it won’t conflic with other mods …Ths is vodoo … And to be done at your own risks (of course). And this is also why we do not accept/consider any bug reports if it is not on a stock/vanilla install without any mod.

Actualy should go something like “Give that man a cookie and …… ,or , Learn him how to cook cookies and …” lol

At the end of the day it is just bits and bytes, so yes you can do pretty much anything.

I haven’t spend much time yet on the new .xml schema for the db items, but from rl world experience I find it possible to script whatever I would need to perform such a task. Don’t want to spend time now however to discover the wheel on this, and, don’t know if such a solution, if working, should be available for the arcade user.
What I have done for a similar approach, is I’ve scripted all the process for exporting the db, adding (correction: replacing) some (known) models from known pre-defied locations on my hard disk, then repacking the db as usual. So if lets say I want to replace a stock db model with a new one by JanHas, this is now 1 click process for me, after I extract JanHas pack to a specific location.

Trust me this isn’t the first mod forum that I haven’t ruffled a few feathers of modders about thier work and the availability to pee on’s like me, this is some of my work, http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=232932
