-Ice's Falcon BMS Helios Profile Updated… Again!
-
Hi Ice
I flew with your profile for quiet a while and am very satisfied with it. Unfortunately, when I installed the latest version of Helios I delete the “F16 Gauge Pack” while de-installing the old version. For the life of me I cannot find the F16GaugePack on the Internet. Can you help me?

I believe he (Ice) is working on getting his profile updated for 4.34, with the standard 3-4 weeks ETA Or was it 2-3 weeks ETA? I keep forgetting.

has Ice been un banned yet?

Looks like someone didn’t like being called out and so he got banned for what he posted on the DCS thread. That was Feb last year so seems like he got a perma-ban? Not like the DCS thread got any better since his ban though!

Doesn’t appear so . . .

I picked up a Samsung 49" curved monitor today to replace my 50" tv. Windows sees it as number 1 which is correct and the same as the TV was. My touch panel hasn’t changed. However, when I go to Helios Profile Editor (whatever it’s called) to reset the monitor resolution, the number one has become the number 2 and 2 has become 1. This isn’t usually a big deal and in fact after resetting them, saving, closing and reopening they appear correct in the preview. When I fire up Helios however the profile comes up on the main screen….? Never had this happen before. The new monitors resolution is smaller than the tv was. The tv was 3940x2160 I believe and the new one is 3940x1080. Anyone had this issue?
Thanks,

Fixed. My scaling was off for the difference in height.

I am using helios with screens that are not touch screen, when i use the mouse this activates the switch on the helios screens but will not activate the switch in BMS 3 D screen, i have adjusted the BMS config file command set g_bEnableExclusiveMouseCapture from 1 to 0 thinking this would be the answer but all this does is to enable me to use my mouse on other screens.
Tearing what little hair i have left -
I’m curious why you would want to use Helios with a mouse when you can just use a mouse in 3D pit and click the actual buttons? What do you gain by doing this? Your prerogative on how you want to fly but it just seems counter productive.

It is all about how you want to interface with the simulation. A few people use a keyboard to play with the sim, and a few use a full cockpit. In between, there are many people with sticks, throttles, rudder petals, multiple monitors, input devices, etc. You do not have to understand it, just except that everyone is different and we have different ways of how we do the same thing – having fun flying a great sim.

I’ve had this same issue. What version of Helios do you have installed? Ice’s profile was made with Helios 1.3 and if you are using the newer version 1.4.x then the location to default images is different. The easiest way to correct the problem is to create a new “blank Helios profile” and put the controls that are missing images into the new profile. Save the new profile and open both Ice’s profile and the one you just created in a notepad app. There you will see the differences in the location for the images of the new controls. Update the Ice profile with the new location of the images and that should solve your issue.
One other issue I ran in to is some of the layering that is put into Helios profiles, esspecially complex ones. Some controls need to be moved up in the layers. This is easier to do than to explain

I have the helios profile looking like it should, but now almost none of the callbacks are working.
I think the issue is any one or combination of:
a) 4.34 having different call back names?
b) I have set up my own config/hotas/keybindings upon installing 4.34, and have just used the stock key bindings, just set up with DirectX mapping and axis allocations for my HOTAS
c) I am not using any specified set up provided by Ice in his profile (in fact, I cant even find an option for one)I suppose my most basic level question is ‘is it possible to get Ice’s helios profile to work with my 4.34 config file’?
Hope someone can help.

Why you think his profile will work without using his .key file? Use old key file and it iwll work in 4.34, but might need to add new 4.34 stuff manually

Two screen setup……Images file download…link not working???

Are this profiles compatible with Helios 1.6 that came out just a few days ago? I recently get my self a seccond monitor (1680x1050 res), but i´m a complete noob with this subject.
I found 1.6 very simple to setup with DCS and some downloaded profiles, now i want tu use it with BMS, but do not know if the profiles are compatible. -
What size of touchscreen monitor would be suitable for the one screen setup?
I was thinking of buying a 15.6 inch 1920x1080 monitor but would the dials, gauges and buttons be too small on this?

I’m running a 15.6 inch 1920x1080 touch monitor, even so I’m not using Ice profile but my own build, I have tested weepop profile which is similar and it would still be usable on a 15.6 single monitor
Just to give you an Idea of size in relation to my hand

Thanks for the quick reply. That looks perfectly usable.
I see that you’re using what looks like a WIMAXIT Portable Touch Monitor. Do you have the video connected via the HDMI port with the Type-C for power and touch functions or are you only using the Type-C connection for both video, power and touch?
And would you recommend it?
