It is not a project for military purposes,he is not in a team,he can’t show what he is asked to ,he just trying and make experiments which is good thing, that’s all. If he had a revolutionary simulator well he might not wanting to share it most probable but at least could show something besides google map
in bms and I am sure he would have been invited in the team I mean they would recognized him an achievement that could help both sides -

In ikaros theater there are some land areas.
Also some others that where left out.I see nothing revolutionary here (something studied for long time to have burried shelter in mountains in North Korea, not used yet).
I see Zbias issues, and I don’t see any ground units moving or ground combat nor GBU weapons hitting targets … (!?) Is about this we are talking so much about here!? -
The zfighting u see is actually the 3d object that is sink in the falcon terrain.
Also switching view (rotating moving) its like the 3d object moves, kinda like the clouds? So the actual area that the 3d object intersects with the falcon terrain changes and at those areas textures look ugly.
If i had erased the falcon terrain tiles or replace them with empty ones you shouldnt see such issues? Dont know, it was just for experimenting on larger areas and i didn’t go further.Here is more obvious i believe , at the begining of video where 3d object intersects with the falcon terrain.
For troops and etc yeap troops would be under the 3d object in most of those areas and they would be invisible to the eye and the radar.

Anyway … while acceptable for small parts (hill top objectives) it is unacceptable for making an entire terrain.

Correct, that is why it is used mainly for big natural areas in Ikaros, like specific mountains/hills next/close to a couple main airbases, that visual recognition effect of the “structure” has a role in navigation -aspect and realism, and e.g. to Karavia firing range which is actually 2 small rock-islands in the water, having it as a simple texture won’t do the job here.

If you try to go for anything else that is not the Falcon original terrain - You will have to get in the TerrainEditor and make it Flat from (0,0) to (1024,1024). All points must have 0ft Alt… then go to Terrain folder and delete all the files … because they use Ram instead of your terrain
and then you break any LOS calculation falcon does. good luck hiding from radar…

So Dont do the tests on falcon if you want LOS and those things to go perfectly done… use another engine

I see You take the ground as a Radar Block …. but that doesn’t matter… the ground today doesn’t block radars from Gulfstreams or Awacs… any plane with radar from 41,000ft + will see you inside a deep canyon. Maybe leaving the radar picture to be able to see through a mountain - will be the better way to do it.
so it’s not Black or White… it’s more 50 shades of grey. some things go better with some methods - some dont.

well I really don’t know… Im not an expert… you say other stuffs that I probably don’t know… But it will be nice to see Falcon with some better graphics… that’s all … and Arty is probably trying some new stuffs… so it will be very intresting to see his work-in-progress… maybe he’ll do things that you and I don’t know yet… I count on Arty. he’ll show the way.
