Hi,
I follow the 3ddb instructions, and it seem that it extracted the folders correctly, but I can’t find them anywhere.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance -
Should be in “\Data\TerrData\Objects\Parents”
-
Thanks for the quick answer, but no joy!! No folders created. Tried several times without any error msgs from 3ddb!!

They will be extracted to the same directory as which you copy the two files to in the first instance. One called Parents and one called LODs, Parents will be full of numbered subdirectories.

Thanks Malc,
But that directory only has the original files and folders. The builder doesn’t create any folders. -

1. Copy the 3ddb_builder.exe and FreeImage.dll to your …/Data/Terrdata/Objects directory.
2. While in same directory, make sure no files or folders selected, hold Shift and Right-Click then select “Open Command Prompt here” or “Open PowerShell window here” (Win version dependent)
3. Enter the command line
- in Powershell - “.\3ddb_builder.exe /extract”
or
- in Command Prompt - “3ddb_builder.exe /extract”
4. Wait a while, look for “Writing…” messages:
until completion:
5: Job done, you should have new folders called “LODs” and “Parents”:
6. “Parents” dir will look like this:
Ignore the fact I am working 4.35 here, process is exactly the same for 4.34 -
Ok Malc,
1,2 and 3 checked and done!!
“Writing” messeges NIL!!
Just getting again the command prompt.
Can’t figure it why! -
@Malc,
The prompt comes up automatically…that’s why I suppose it was extracting correctly:( -
One last question - how long are you letting things run before deciding it is not working? Sounds like a silly question, but recently I have instances where it looks like it has stalled but if I leave it for a number of seconds (30+) all of a sudden it starts then is done. Frustrating, but it is happening nonetheless. Maybe worth leaving it to sit for a minute or so before cancelling?

I had similar problem. Here is the solution: If you use “3ddb_builder.exe /build_old” command LOD editor will work without problem. But if you use “3ddb_builder.exe /build” command LOD Editor will not work properly and you will get the hdr overrun error.

Hmmmm. 3ddb_builder.exe /build_old did not work for me. Got the hdr overrun error for that too.
