TM Warthog HOTAS Print Layout PDF

When I open it in Microsoft Word the graphics are there, I did notice that the google docs version of it did not include the graphics.
Hey, I’ll try that… I have MS Word also… Might be able to resave it with the graphics and then read it in Open Office Writer.

Rats… Didn’t work… My version of Word is from Office 2000.

If I might ask, what brand(s) Stick/Throttle combos are you using?

I only have Adobe Reader. Generally, I work with Open Office Writer to edit/modify docs then directly output them to PDF format. Though your link contains the information, it doesn’t contain the graphic layout necessary to reproduce the original PDF. Thanks, though. I was assuming the author of the original PDF would have the layout (graphics included) in .doc format which they then used to produce the PDF. They might have produced it directly in PDF however. Hope not.
edit> I just don’t bother with any subscription software.
edit> I have the means and the know-how to actually manually reproduce a close copy using screen saves/Paint Shop Pro to grab the graphics and then use Open Office to paste image blocks, but that’s a whole lot of work that could be easily avoided if the original PDF had a .DOC formatted source with the grapics included.I understand not wanting the subscriptions, I have yet to subscribe to any of those types of services. The programs that I have were just one-time payment with a discount from work that I have had for a while.
Is the formatting not even correct on the document that you are opening? That is odd, but I have to admit that I don’t use the open source products much so I am not very familiar with those.
I think it would be very difficult to produce this document in Word, and if it were me I would have done it in Acrobat or InDesign, but that is just because that is what I am accustomed to.
Maybe someone can provide a file, or another type of software that is open source that can open this file with the embedded images so that you can make the edits you need.
Or, if the document you have is readable, you could make your edits to the text and send it back to me and I can export it back to PDF format for you. Just let me know…

Both my Office 2000 Word and the latest Open Office Writer open the file BUT besides the graphics missing, the format of the text itself is totally trashed. Not worth working with to even add the graphics to it. Would be easier to start from scratch.
Once you get used to Open Office Writer, it’s pretty easy to import graphics and block text around the graphics, pretty much like the PDF in BMS shows. Then Open Office Writer has a direct output to PDF format itself. My version of Office 2000 Word does not have direct output to PDF format.

Tracking, that is unfortunate because my version of word shows it all
Try this one, it is saved in an earlier Word format

Interesting… It loads with Office 2000 Word, but when saved in .doc format… Open Office Writer “Gags”.
HOWEVER, Cool thing is, it is directly editable with Office 2000 Word and shows a perfect replica of the original as long as I use Office 2000 Word to view it. I can’t convert to PDF with this Office 2000 Word. That’s better than before.
EDIT> Upon further investigation, editing this .doc causes the formatting to go bonkers in the right side Stick controller definition boxes… Back to square one… Bet I’m gonna have to reproduce my own page from the ground up.

Microsoft Word is really not good for this sort of thing, in my opinion, and some sort of PDF editor would probably be ideal. I am all out of ideas for you, short of you just telling me what changes you want and I could update it for you. Good luck!

That I wouldn’t do, but thanks for the offer. You’ve been a great help already.
Since I’m just getting the feel of what I need on the HOTAS setup, I know I’ll probably be changing things around somewhat, so I’d rather have a source .doc that works with my usual Open Office Writer, which I can save and quickly make the changes to and whip out another PDF. I’ll just have to make my own source .doc myself. The blue arrows on the original drawing from the “key” boxes to the graphic pics will be an interesting challenge with Open Office Writer though.
-
No worries, that makes sense.
Maybe you could try using the spreadsheet program instead. The MS version has arrows that you can add, does your open office version have that?

You know what… That’s a good substitute, though I have to take a screen shot of the final result for a .jpg as an intermediate step (I have no idea, how to export a section of a spreadsheet directly to image). However, onoe I have a.jpg image all I have to do is import the image to Open Office Writer to make a PDF or if the .jpg image is readable enough just use it directly with Windows default Photo view. Once again, you come thru with the answer… :yo:
edit> I ended up using MS Excel. Took the original BMS Key File Editor.xls, stripped out all the excess sheets other than TM related sheets, Saved as Customized TM Stick-Throttle Layout(s).xls
Voila! (Almost better than a .doc source.)
-
Nice work!

Nice work!
Have to do just a tad more editing. Deleting all the unneeded sheets caused some of the original text to be replaced with #Ref.
If you’re interested, I owe you… I’ll make one up for you. Just tell me your stick/throttle combo (provided they have a sheet in the BMS Key File Editor.xlx.

Thanks for the offer, I am slowly figuring out the best use for all of my buttons as well as I learn how to do more things in the sim.

So far, my biggest accomplishment/thrill is laying out 6 BLU-107s using CCIP in a perfect straight line down the center of an enemy runway.
-
Nice, my last runway strike didn’t go so well. I definitely need more practice

Use OA1 and OA2 and a Target Steerpoint that way you have visual cues in the HUD to align perfectly even without have the runway even in sight.
-
Forgive my ignorance, what is OA1 and OA2?
-
per the Acronym listing, I presume he means Offset Aimpoint sighting #1 and Offset Aimpoint sighting #2, though how to set them up is something I haven’t got to yet.
edit> Description how to see the Offset Aimpoint 1 & 2 subpages from the DEST page on pg 74 of the - 1 manual.
edit> Additional info about Offset Aimpoints in the -34 manual starting on pg 27 -
Forgive my ignorance, what is OA1 and OA2?
Just 2 Screenshoots on how i personally use them for example on ground target. After identifying a target in column through FCR I set a Markpoint on the first vehicle in the column and use FCR and own course to calculate the alignment bearing to set up Offset Aimpoint 1 and 2 from the previous generated Markpoint. Just left to the Red line is the Tank column. If I navigate my AC to line up the 3 visual cues for OA1 Markpoint and OA2 I’m perfectly straight flying over the target column. That way I could stay at high altitude and do CCRP or dive down for CCIP to drop dump bombs
Offset aimpoint are set with a Range, Bearing and Elevation from a given Steerpoint/Markpoint and can be set either pre-flight for example if target is stationary like a runway or inflight light shown in my screenshots on a target aquired in flight
