Meaby is a trouble with DX

Installed new driver last night. FPS jumped to 100 on a minimal TE. Activated VSYNC in game and saw FPS drop to 35-45.

vsync in vga drivers? -
I’ve been testing a little the last few nights. I went back to the 285.62 drivers, and I see about a negative 5-10 FPS difference from the 275.33 drivers. I think my biggest thing is that I use the MFD Extractor in BMS, and I also use the MFD Extractor Utility for everything else (see my system specs). Hopefully some day MFD Extractor will be able to extract the MFD’s again. Not that my frame rates are bad or anything, but in my opinion they could be better. I know that turning off Multisampling helped big time. Also, turning off eye candy helps also. I’ve tried Vsync on and off, and really don’t see any difference. I don’t think I have ever experienced screen tearing, so i’m not even sure what it looks like. So Vsync for me might as well be off. Tripple buffering didn’t seem to do much either. I currently am running my two 560’s SLI with multiple displays. I think before, when I had them separate, I had better FPS. I may take the jumper off and see.

GeForce 285.62 Driver WHQL runs fine for me. You can also give Geforce 275.33 Driver WHQL a try
I too can verify the 285.62 drivers are good

After a couple of days testing, i find the 275.33 drivers are the best for my setup. The 285.62 were good also, it just seemed the 275.33 were more stable. The new 295 drivers are crap.
One thing I was wondering….if I do not use any 3-D Hardware (glasses, etc.), is the 3-D software that is installed with the Nvidia Control Panel neccessary? I installed it, because I didn’t want to take a chance that it would effect the 3-D experience within Falcon. But, if I am not mistaken, it’s two different things, eh?

The 3D drivers from Nvidia are to support 3D glasses. Here is some info on it from Nvidia.

I have no slowdowns at win7x64,all working normal .9600gt 6gb ram.

The 3d drivers are present in the 285 version, but you need a card that supports it. And then, I would say if you don’t use it, it wouldn’t require resources. But some people swear by having the leanest driver possible for their card. Newer drivers often add functionality for newer cards, but the driver files become in a sense bloated if you don’t need it. The exception on this is when an error exists in an older version. Check the changelogs. I had no performance decrease in BMS with either 275 or 285 drivers. And I don’t upgrade any further, because my card is from jan. 2011

That’s how VSync works. If it isn’t triple buffered, then the FPS will jump down to the next threshold in halves and doubles of 60 if that’s your refresh rate. IE, available fps are 7.5, 15, 30, 60, 120 and so on. So if you’re at anywhere between 60 and 120 it will drop to 60, and between 30 and 60 it will drop to 30 and so forth. I’m massively over simplifying because I don’t fully understand it all but that’s the gist of it. My multiples may be off but that’s the general idea.

Ok, guys, sorry. when I post the 295.lalalala drivers, that link was for Nvidia 9500gt graphic card, that drivers are not for the GTX version of thcards.

I’m not! Since installing the 296.10 driver for my GTX560Ti, I can’t start bms at all.
Config window launches, but no bms, not direct either. Reverting in a mo - will look for 285.62, though my previous driver was okay, but I forgot which it was and only have 270.61 as back up downloaded.

I’m currently playing with the latest 296.10 driver and everything works just fine. So I assume that it’s not just a driver problem. I’m not an expert in graphics cards though.
