Hi SpbGoro,
Firstly, as I haven’t said this yet, I am really enjoying this theatre!
Unfortunately, my VFS last night tried flying the V5_12_03 release and had a few CTDs very early on in the flight. Even when one of us flew offline, the flight lasted longer but still ended in a CTD.
1: 1st attempt: 3 pilots were already airborne and a 4th (late to the party) tries to join. Host CTDs when the 4th player is still loading into 3D.
2: 2nd attempt: All 4 join properly. One of the clients has a CTD shortly after takeoff (not obvious link to any event as far as we can tell). This client rejoins BMS lobby and host has a CTD.
3: 3rd attempt: All 4 join properly. Airborne, and enroute to STP2 the host has a CTD - no obvious link to any event.
4: 4th attempt: Offline. Longer time in 3D but CTD again - no obvious link to any event.Another more minor thing. Each time we joined 3D, we were placed onto the grass (not far from the taxiway), with our aircraft very close to each other. I’ll edit this post to let you know the airbase we were at later today.
Edit: Ras Safaniya Airbase. I just loaded it up offline myself and flew (purely autopilot) and it seemed OK. I made it through maybe 30 minutes, most of it at x4 speed, before I was shot down.

please change the name in the map ( persian gulf to arabian gulf ) all around this gulf r arabs … west cast and east cast all are arab
The Iranians would be really p****d off to hear you calling them arabs. Besides Persian Gulf is the official international name, although the Saudis refer to it as the Arabian Gulf.

Thanks a lot for this too, dear friend Goro!
You did well. So, also this much appreciated theater is up to date.
With best regards.

Gave it a go with U3, let me build a TE hit commit then mission not showing only planning (no flight plan on map)

Hello, dear mate.
For my curiosity only (but everyone here already knows that I’m curious by nature).
What do you mean for that and do you have in mind to do then?
Might it be something like assembling a brand new ‘te_new.tac’, perhaps? I can’t get it, sorry. With best regards.
-
Hello
Thanks for the reply, yes I assembled a brand new te, I have uninstalled and will reinstall, and see how it goes as it looks good the Kuwait theatre.

Thanks to you, mate.
So, what should I say? Go for it, and please share when you think it’s ready.
I’d like to do some tests on my own too. With best regards.
Gianni.

What a great theater! Works fine with U3 here.
I saw the screenshot of the TU-22 Blinder. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to add a squadron per default to make the campaign a little bit more historical? Iraq bought 14 of them from the Soviet Union, around 7 remaining in Operation Desert Storm. I added one squadron with 16 aircraft at H-3 for myself.
Edit: Sorry, meant Mudaysis airbase.:D

Oh, there is really one in Mission Commander! I’d suggest to remove the “inactive” flag from units > open 1039 > Advanced.
Or is it for some surprise during the campaign? -

Great idea to keep campaign challenging later on.
This is a gorgeous theater! Finally we have a fantastic ODS theater back in BMS. The scenario has always been my favorite since Falcon 3.0 (yes, 3.0!), F-15 III, Gunship 2000 and Tornado.
Very much thanks for this awesome piece of work

While looking at a bugreport concerning the Kuwait theatre and MC I did see the UI map in the latest Kuwait release.
No pun intended, but you do know MC has a feature to create UI maps as well as approach charts? For the UI map creation just load the te_new.tac and go to the Map tab.
On the left you find a button, “Highest Elv” click this and MC will find the highest elevation. This will be handy to set your colors.
Just above this button you will find the button “Create Map”
Click this and set the colors and other settings you want. Then let MC produce the map. Takes about 15-30min depending on what you have selected and how fast your PC is.Here is an example map for Kuwait, used about the same colors as in the original UI map.
Full size in case you like it.

I want to share some experiences with the Kuwait campaign and found one issue.
First the issue: The new parallel runways like Saddam Intl and Shayka Mazhar cannot be hit (haven’t tried Balad Southeast). All others are OK, including the sharp angled dual runways.
Now my campaign: Initial settings were veteran with aircraft slider entirely to the left (Iraq), all others middle.
My starting grand scheme for winning the campaign is to fly SEAD/DEAD most of the time and taking out the most dangerous airfields (with some time between to prevent the feared “wall of MiGs”).
So I helped the other troops to get their job done. PAK sliders were set deep red for the area around Kuwait and the front line of troops. Mission and target types slightly adjusted and Infrastructure to zero. After the first chaos with SEAD and fighters over Kuwait I built the first missions for myself:
1. Take out the SA-5 at Basrah and some of the SA-2.
2. I did “suicidal” one-ship-flights to hammer runways at Basrah Intl (MiG-29) and Shaibah (MiG-21 and Su-25) to ease the fighting for my side a bit. Not real suicidal since I go in high speeddown in the dust, radar off, throwing my Durandals with a good chance of escape without loosing a wingman. The same I did over day one and the following night with other SA-5, the SA-2 chain along the border and some front near airfields. The new SAM-behavior is really tricky. With the search radars all around I find the HAS mode for my HARMs almost more suitable than HAD because of filtering in the tables. The SA-5 and other SAMs around Baghdad were a real challenge.
Meanwhile the other enemy fighters were depleted a good part and the A-10 and consorts worked down enemy ground troops. I let the other airfields come back one after one to get the rest of them. Although they are still a good challenge at day 2.
Now I go for CCC, Logistics and War production, Baghdad is also high priority in PAK. The SAMs are afraid of activating their radars most of the time.My ground troops now begin moving northwards. I “convinced” some to do so by setting their paths manually but all others follow:
Questions:
What are those white framed ground units? human control? Moving?
I hope I can win this, since description tells me I have 5 days, TRI-file says 10. Which one is correct?
I cannot watch the movies, even not with VLC. Korea is fine, since I downloaded x264VFW video codec.
Further findings:
After all, BMS 4.34 seems to be a bit unstable. I sometimes get crashes to desktop when entering 3D. But this is a minor issue since Autosave is always intact.
And Intel force levels are somewhat crippled, all data before day 1 10:00 have went to zero some time into the campaign.Last but not least: As you can see, I’m having helluva good time with Kuwait. Thank you for this piece of art

Movies are 0 byte size, no wonder they aren’t working - so let’s say they are still placeholders
Length of campaign is defined in TRI file , so 10 should be correct if there are no more defined endings (didn’t check) , … MASTER end is defined in .cam file alone, that’s maximum days campaign is “valid”.

Hello there, dear mate.
I hope you are fine and doing all well and safe, it’s the most important.
Well, to ‘business’: any news? Did you have the time to test that your custom TE, and if so, how did it go?
In case, I’d like to give it a look of mine, you know. With best regards.
