Is there a map view while in the sim?
-
I understood the question to be an in sim map view similar to what DCS and IL 2 has. But yes there are some secondary programs that allow some mapping.

Thanks
Yes I meant a map like F10 view in DCS where one can check the other assets (mainly for training purposes)… -
Nope such “cheating” view doesn’t exist out of the box.
For training build up your SA, record your flight, review in Tacview and improve building up your SA
Or enable labels in 3d

At Falcon Online we’ve experienced players simply saving their game and viewing both forces easily with mission commander.
Players do this to get a complete picture of the opposing force, and it completely scraps realism and the fog of war.

But at least that’s only a one time snapshot doesn’t gain you any SA on the air picture

OK that is why the save button disappeared. Unfortunately, side effect is, it disables the use of other features. Shame.

Just wondering, is there a map view while flying in BMS? and if so, what is the key command or how does it work?
thanks! Not exactly what you are looking for but I have WDP open on my second Monitor. DataCard and Map I´d consider something a Pilot would take along in the jet anyway, and that´s an easy way for me to check where I am.
As far as other units, you can have several flights in your Package and have an eye on their position via Datalink.

Just fired up YAME64 as having a Moving Map would be pretty cool. Works perfectly using the “Center pedestal blk 60 (fictional)” gauge under “Flight Instruments” tab on my Lilliput touchscreen (rotated to portrait mode). I can still have my Right MFD displayed (does not have the OSBs mapped yet), Moving Map, flight and fuel data, and a lot more! Not totally realistic but don’t care…
One caveat, you have to have the theater loaded to your BMS 4.33 install and the proper theater definition list, then Yame64 will see and show it in the Active Theater pull-down…

Or lighnings F16CPD

Thanks all of you for the answers. Actually I was not looking for a map that shows all the units and ennemies, that would kill the beauty of the immersion and surprises that I discover with great pleasure in BMS. No, as an aviator, I always fly with a map, I would love to have a map (I can figure out myself where I am) to consult the geography of my surroundings etc… a map where I could plot a lake or a bay or a town and find it with my eyes in the cockpit as a reference. T-C could you elaborate on what you were talking about? (I have never used WDP…)

With WDP you can open a tac or cam file you saved after you have fragged (planned( your flight.
It allows you to either save the Datacards including a Map with your flight plan either to you hard drive or to select 2 Datacards pages and use the update kneeboard function. This kneeboard pages are shown on your pilots legs in the cockpit. To activate the pilot model in pit hit Alt C followed by PAnd to be honest BMS maps and the combination of LOD tile based terrain with the current terrain engine are not really to be used for visual navigation

I think the shared memory includes latitude/longitude, maybe an external tool could leverage this to display a map on a second screen or another device altogether ( if it doesnt exist already )

We already showed it above both YAME64 and F16CPD and Komercus Andriod app have a Map where the own position is shown on the map based on shared memory.
Currently Helios is extended to get a CPD with map including own ship position as well from Shared memGesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk
