Can't get resolutions higher than 2560x1080 (Solved)
-
Running Falcon 3.34 I can’t set in the setup menu a resolution higher than 2560x1080 although my monitor is an LG Ultrawide which can go up to 3440x1440. I am using the Falcon Alternative Launcher, but it does not offer to override the resolution the sim is finally running.
I can use full screen mode via the launcher. but it just gives me a reduced resolution in full screen.
Any ideas about it?

Try to set your native monitor resolution and frequency in GPU settings
-
Where do you mean? I start Falcon go to setup->graphics->resolution tab. It just does not offer my native resolution. 2560x1080 is the maximum I can select.
-
nvidia control panel or amd control panel
-
Just double checked. It was already set before 3440x1440 (native). I am pretty sure I had 4.33 running on a 4k monitor without issues. Seems to cause problems now with 4.34. Any other ideas?

Nope. I have just one card. Its a 2080Ti But this is driving me crazy. I know it used to work but not any more. Seems like Falcon just does not want to realize that my monitor can go much higher in resolution.

Close Falcon
go in config folder and delete dx9display.dsp file,
relaunch Falcon
-
I also only have one map in my PC, but Falcon displays three maps. Each “map” displays a number of resolutions.
For example the card “one” has the correct resolution, the others do not.
Otherwise maybe by deleting the file “dx9display.dsp”? -
It does not show multiple graphics adapter. Only the one I really have installed. I deleted dx9display.dsp. Didnt help either. And I installed 4.33 U 5 along with 4.34. And 4.33 shows the same behavior. The problem is definitely my setup. When I had it working on a 4K monitor it was a different PC with different graphics adapter.

To get 4K, I went through a display port.
At home I have a resolution of 2560 * 1440 and I go through an HDMI cable. -
Sure. I was not talking about that I want to go up to 4k. I just said it because I know Falcon can go higher than my current setup. I just try to run it the same resolution as windows and all the other programs are running on my monitor. Even 2560x1440 is not listed here. Have a look and remember my monitor runs 3440*1440 on windows currently.

If you installed new drivers in last days I would reinstall Falcon from scratch.
-
Thats the problem. It was a fresh install. First time installed on this PC yesterday.
-
can you try in dp, at the max frequency?
-
Thanks man! That worked. I have no idea why it just didnt work with HDMI but does work with DP connected. Does not make sense to me, but if it works, it works! Thanks again.
-
DisplayPort or HDMI? My Asus 4k monitor used DisplayPort 1.2 compression to get to 4k, but it doesn’t work with HDMI. NVM, I seee you got it.
-
If you have more than 1 hdmi port be sure you use that with the max frequency. In my old Samsung 4k I had 2 ports 30hz and 60hz.
I prefer always run in dp to run at max frequency anyway.Glad you solved
Cheers

You might need to add a “custom” resolution using the NVIDIA control panel. For some reason BMS/Falcon fails to recognize/list the resolution if it doesn’t have a refresh rate of exactly 60.0 Hz (e.g. 59.9 or similar). After that it should be available in the SETUP menu.
-
Add this line in your “Falcon BMS.cfg” file (User\Config folder) :
set g_bAllowAllRefreshRates 1
