Can't get resolutions higher than 2560x1080 (Solved)
-
Where do you mean? I start Falcon go to setup->graphics->resolution tab. It just does not offer my native resolution. 2560x1080 is the maximum I can select.
-
nvidia control panel or amd control panel
-
Just double checked. It was already set before 3440x1440 (native). I am pretty sure I had 4.33 running on a 4k monitor without issues. Seems to cause problems now with 4.34. Any other ideas?
-
-
Nope. I have just one card. Its a 2080Ti But this is driving me crazy. I know it used to work but not any more. Seems like Falcon just does not want to realize that my monitor can go much higher in resolution.
-
Close Falcon
go in config folder and delete dx9display.dsp file,
relaunch Falcon
-
I also only have one map in my PC, but Falcon displays three maps. Each āmapā displays a number of resolutions.
For example the card āoneā has the correct resolution, the others do not.
Otherwise maybe by deleting the file ādx9display.dspā? -
It does not show multiple graphics adapter. Only the one I really have installed. I deleted dx9display.dsp. Didnt help either. And I installed 4.33 U 5 along with 4.34. And 4.33 shows the same behavior. The problem is definitely my setup. When I had it working on a 4K monitor it was a different PC with different graphics adapter.
-
To get 4K, I went through a display port.
At home I have a resolution of 2560 * 1440 and I go through an HDMI cable. -
Sure. I was not talking about that I want to go up to 4k. I just said it because I know Falcon can go higher than my current setup. I just try to run it the same resolution as windows and all the other programs are running on my monitor. Even 2560x1440 is not listed here. Have a look and remember my monitor runs 3440*1440 on windows currently.
-
If you installed new drivers in last days I would reinstall Falcon from scratch.
-
Thats the problem. It was a fresh install. First time installed on this PC yesterday.
-
can you try in dp, at the max frequency?
-
Thanks man! That worked. I have no idea why it just didnt work with HDMI but does work with DP connected. Does not make sense to me, but if it works, it works! Thanks again.
-
DisplayPort or HDMI? My Asus 4k monitor used DisplayPort 1.2 compression to get to 4k, but it doesnāt work with HDMI. NVM, I seee you got it.
-
If you have more than 1 hdmi port be sure you use that with the max frequency. In my old Samsung 4k I had 2 ports 30hz and 60hz.
I prefer always run in dp to run at max frequency anyway.Glad you solved
Cheers

You might need to add a ācustomā resolution using the NVIDIA control panel. For some reason BMS/Falcon fails to recognize/list the resolution if it doesnāt have a refresh rate of exactly 60.0 Hz (e.g. 59.9 or similar). After that it should be available in the SETUP menu.
-
Add this line in your āFalcon BMS.cfgā file (User\Config folder) :
set g_bAllowAllRefreshRates 1
-
FYSA, OP fixed his issue:
Thanks man! That worked. I have no idea why it just didnt work with HDMI but does work with DP connected. Does not make sense to me, but if it works, it works! Thanks again.
Still curious as to why, though the darkman is just happy it finally works.
HDMI 1.3 (and higher) supports 1440p at 75Hz refreshā¦ It does matter what GFX card is pushing this, and what Monitor is driving this. Not sure which LG Ultrawide model weāre talking about, there are several, but most all have a max refresh rate of 60Hz, well below the 75Hz max of HDMI 1.3. Both DP and HDMI support 1440p @ 60Hz, but if the GFX card cannot output this modified āultra-wideā 1440p signal over itās HDMI out, you might refer to the user/technical manual for that GFX card, specifically details about itās video output ports. Iād bet dollars to donuts that the HDMI port on that card is designed for VR output at a lowered spec than weād normally expect from HDMI 1.3+
But Iām not a betting man, and am really just curious about the output port specs for that 2080Ti, and the model number of the Monitor. Head scratcher, but thereās definitely a technical reason that is being overlooked, one would assume. Of course, the graphics card control panel settings would need to be set to the Monitorās native resolution and refresh rate, but after that, the video output port itself would seem to be the only limiting factor.
It says this on the 2080Ti specs page: 4k 12-bit HDR at 144Hz or 8k 12-bit HDR at 60Hz over one DisplayPort 1.4 connector (with DSC).
When it comes to HDMI, the cable itself is mostly irrelevant, there are only 4 HDMI cables (high speed with or without Ethernet, and standard speed w/ or w/o Ethernet), but iirc, a standard speed HDMI cable cannot transmit greater than 30Hz signals. Iāve personally not played with HDMI since everything essentially moved to DP for high refresh rate monitor support, so if anyone knows anything else, it might shed some light on this little mystery here even though it has already been resolved for darkman.

I have a resolution of 5760x1080. Everything was working great. I was trying to get the head tracking set up and then W10 decided to update at that moment. After the update my resolution in BMS 4.34 dropped to 1920x1080. I am going to mess with it more tomorrow and see what I can find out.
