I’ve a question regarding the fuselage AIM-9 pylons and rail:
Is the rail a regular LAU-127/128/129 ?
What is the pylon/adpator ? is it common to all F-104 (it looks really different from the one we currently use for F-104J) ?1. G version didn’t have external under wing pylon
a. internal pylons BL-75
2. G -S Version pylons
a. internal pylon BL-75
b. external pylon BL-104
c. fusolage pylon BL-22
d. adapter pylon ( wing rail, external pylon, fusolage pylon) called " Red Dog " , + Lau -7 with aim9L
Aim9L Lau-7

Tanks a lot, so
Rail = LAU-7 (and not LAU-127/128/129)
Pylon = Red Dog (sorry, but “Attachment 42102” is invalid) -

Nice rack! Hahahahaha! Just getting it in before Aragorn does…

should work
Thanks !
But does someone have a close up picture of the fuselage pylon ? (the BL-22 also called red dog ?) under which you can load a LAU-7 for AIM-9 (or a bomb if I beleive some source in the web) ? -
The red dog pylons are the wingtip mounted launchers, they are a one piece launcher rail made from hi strenght aluminium alloy and its flanges are slotted at 3 places to insert the missiles lugs. The complete trailing section consists of transparent coloured plastic navigation light
The fuselage ones were called the catamarans launchers with 2 Aero 3B

Hello,
One remark :
these pylons apply only for F-104G, not F-104J or C.
For now, I only did J and C LAU-7.
I’m working now on Marinefliegergeschwader 2 F-104.
I already switched the engine from J79-GE-7A / J79-IHI-11A to J79-GE-11A.
I also implemented AN/ALE-40 CMDS.
I still have some minor tweaks to achieve, and also GQ-7A ejection seat to make.
I will then make AS34 Kormoran missile.
Any evidence of Orpheus Recce pod on Marine F-104G ?
I have very limited reference about F-104G.
Cheers,
Radium

Check the F-104 article on AirVectors.net…
“…Marineflieger RF-104Gs were built to a special standard, with long-range cameras mounted in a bay behind the cockpit shooting out windows in the sides of the fuselage. They retained the trimetrogon camera arrangement in the belly. They were often used to observe shipping and harbor activity in the Baltic, remaining over international waters and taking shots with the side-looking cameras.”

Orpheus Recce pod only Dutch F-104G and Italian F-104S

Hello,
Some update !

Seat is still missing.
Texture has already a good progress.
AN/ALE-40 are here, J79-GE-11A is also here.
Stay tuned !

Very good! My 2 cents, I think the corner on the Vertical Stab must be a bit smoother and also for G/S (i dont know for other versions also) there is i believe a camera at the base of the windshield. Also i think the intakes (in the real one) have a slight tilt forward.

yeah and the air intake nacelle is a bit bulging (mostly upper half).

Hello,
Thank you very much for your reports !
I will update tonight (already did after wake up left air intake).
Manos, could you describe the corner issue about the vertical stab ?
I will add the camera also tonight and the intakes plates.
If I have time I will make ejection seat too.
Cheers,
Radium

It a small difference i know and i might not be 100% correct. My eye just caught on that. Ill chack every photo and site as well to be sure.
For sure i know 100% for the intakes and also 1 small thing as well is the main gears on the G at least had also a bulge cause of the wider wheels the G had cause of the extra weight.
If we didnt had a lockdown i would gladly go to the War museum here in Athens and get pictures for you from the 104 on its Yard
Cheers!
