New campaign from scratch - suggestion & hints

Hi All,
I need your help. I trying to build a campaign from scratch. I followed some very useful suggestion in the forum and created Teams, occupation maps and put ground units on field with their objectives.
There are three teams two allied and one as enemy. All actives.
For the moment i leave the .tri file as previous because i would like to dedicate myself to this after for victory conditions and so on.
Issue:
- when i try to run the campaign everythings work well for ground units, they goes to their objectives for all the teams active in the campaign
- regarding planning, the squadrons from the team that play as Enemy has a lot of mission auto generated from the HQ. OK.
- regarding the two allied teams only the squadron on the carrier (F14) has mission, for the squadron with F16 Block 32 no mission appears…and i dont understand why.
Shoud be some conditions that do not allow the auto generation of the missions for that squadron. I tried to delete and recreate, same behavior.

- The theater is Israel, but i think that this is not related to the specific theater, i am missing something.

One very important thing. Do not use more than a single A-10 sq. with 12 planes if you plan to use that in Israel.
In 2D world these plane are simply OP and breaks the campaign. Just check their kill list. -

Thanks for the hint! I solved the issue for the squadron not planning mission just changing the plane… i choose F16 IAF and everything goes well. I tried to put even a Tornado squadron but doesn’t works. Maybe there is a list of “active” model that one can use for campaign.
Other thinks that i am trying to understand how to generate Awacs fly. I put E2C squadron but no mission has been generated…
not so easy…

And i discovered entering on the second campaign, the ones already in the theater, even in that case for example with C130H squadron i can’t see any mission in the planning …window.

This may not be your issue, but I e done two things before that got tasking working.
1 in MC advanced unit options, there are squadron buttons. “Fix units after import” button.
Even if not imported objectives, sometimes this helps. You will know if a bunch of info pops up and asks “fix this?”
I answer usually “yes to assigned airbases “ if only thing that pops up is “no problem found” then this isn’t your issue.2 some airbases (usually strips) aren’t long enough for certain planes. A4 can not take off from airstrips in ai 2d . They won’t task because fm file has a line in it that says “must be xxx long of rwy” or such.
There’s lots more probabilities but these are common on my end .

Great Edd. Useful. I am still in trouble because just restarted to design the campaign and the problem still occurs this time even with IAF F16 so it could be for many reasons…i will try your suggestion and i will let you know. Thanks

Nothing. I found two airport. From one F16 IAF can depart because i have missions from other no. I don’t understand…each parameter seems the same. But for one airport F16 and Tornado have mission from the other no both.
two hrs trying… and i am lost.

Hi All,
Just to share my experience. I moved to other theater, now Balkan and the thing going very well. No issues on ground or air units. Awacs fly Ok and so the F16 squadron. Planning engine works very well.
Now i am going to study the events stuff and the .tri. Reading around in the forum I will post information and i would like to share what i am undertanding on the way.

OK. Reading information on forum is quite easy to build a simple tri file with Win conditions from both part. I changes even same report strings to fit the message and link this on what is happening in the custom campaign.
What is very difficult (for me) is to make missions in line with the scope. I mean …i put OCA priority as 100 but HQ seems to quite ignore it, and when it choose finally a OCA mission the target is an airport without an enemy squadron.
I make even the modification on falcon file suggested in the forum to avoid suicide missions. Change the priority by MC and so on, changed the specific role of the squadron,…this do not have the result i was hope to achieve.
Any hints on this? Thanks

Yes i saw. Just an example, even in Balkan it occured that an airplane that was OK for a F16 squadron before after some parameter changes (i didn’t understand exactly which one unfortunatly) doesn’t work and i had to change airport (maybe some link deleted i dont know…).
But this is an interesting world because i cannot see the “end” and this is the good part Its like an MMO without one sigle way to do something.

I saw the video and applied the suggestions on my custom campaign, really useful.
One question, you put a C130H squadron for supply out of map…so beyond the border. Why ? many thanks.

I don’t remember but you can define offmap airbases in the campaigns / TEs…
Best practice though is to keep offmap for transports and support squadrons (tankers, awacs, jstars). <-- Keep those numbers low though, A squad per type will be enough…Fighter squads will not play nicely with it because they will always be there to attack and spawn QRA… (But if you plan on an extra challenge, then why not…)
