Block 52+ Advanced moving digital map

Mine: Would be certainly (?) unusable due to MFD resolution. Some PPL are already complaining that they have blurry MFD without any map. Imagine with a map. You will have to use a TrackIR to get a closer view in order to clearly see the map overlay.
In addition to TIR you can click down twice so the MFD’s are enlarged and then they are clear. That’s how I do it as I have not tried to hook up my TIR yet as I have always had issues with it for some reason. Good thing I got it free, haha. Not sure if it will work with BMS either. Not to mention there is a lot of light in this bedroom, I’d have to darken it some.
Maybe I’ll mess around today with it??

Good idea … but if moving map is implemented one day, do not count on that kind of code change!(?) … or maybe add a new view option in the setup using existing slots to get a closer view of both MFDs when clicking down. (?)
Rremeber that 2D Ckpt no longer exist; that must be done using 3D views only, or maybe using “HUD” only view with bigger “ghost MFD”…

Oh, I was just pointing it out, not lobbying for it to be instituted, lots of other higher priorities to tackle first,
Cheers,

This statement is correct, not only the 4’’ cmfd’s are too small for such functional details (color map over HSD over Link 16), but worst, the map is not North-oriented meaning as you fly/turn you can see the map details and letters upside-down etc, not really helpful apart from general viewing details like if you fly above sea/ground etc specially during night ops.
EDIT: The most interesting part of this shot is the proof that the Peace Xenia IV model shown here (Block 52M / Advanced+) have also the white AND nvg green panels mixture, following the similar layout of PXIII birds. That is for the internal floodlights/panels lighting mod that is under works. Also notice the new AN/ARC-238 dual band radio used in all new blocks.

Shouldn’t be too hard, its just a moving texture like the ground radar. eg… HSD overlay on the not so monochrome ground radar map. If you have ever used DBS2 in Ground-Mode, you may have noticed that roads are visible in the image.

Raptor, can you have a Block 52+ cockpit draw for me? I will need it for something ;). If possible, two version:
- one for PX2/3
- one for PX4.
Thanks.

Here is an example of what it “could be” using current MFD HiRes setting, using a screen resolution of 1920*1080 with a 60Nm scale
pic real size is 1920*1080
…
Not so bad! … but need a high screen resolution anyway! Result is quite less good as soon as you reduce screen resolution.
-
Moving map is more than just a kneeboard. As long as HSD markings are not visible…
BTW the issues what I ask everytime. Why always the latest models should be the target…? Different F-16 variants during of their career never had moving map…
-
…that looks beautiful…
-
Another example with 30Nm scale rotated map …
Note that there is NO HSD overlay at all here! So, a much more clear picture than a map with overlay! (I’m assuming a MFD resolution of 220220 pixels, using a total screen resolution of 19201080!)
-
Basically would be like the A10 Charlie over at DCS with their map? Nice touch but I could think of some other priorities. I too can’t seem to get my MFD any more clear but nothing I can solve by moving my head a few inches forward with TIR

@ Dee-Jay
A rl, hires aviation map of Greece on the campaign map will look exactly as it should be, in place of the default Korea map as per your shots.
-
What about this then: i know need coding for seperate distance and resolutions … but it is very helpfull specialy at night …
-
Amazing! I hope we will see it in F/A-18C cockpit on the central display!

Something like this?
Already WIP but cannot promise an ETA yet due to my free time ATM. It was my intention to share it with the ViperPits community and xflight.de (original design creators; - i also need to grant their permissions for publishing these mods) for our cockpit building, so of course you or devs can use it as well when ready. All HAF versions will be displayed separately.
-
Perfect!! exactly what I trying to found.
I don’t well know the PX, does the PXIII already have the EGI? -
Yes, III & IV.
-
Nice.
Thanks for your nice work Raptor. It will be very usefull :). -
That’s great! I think that the moving map with the selectable HSB overlay would be really useful!
-
As long as map does not follow the scaling of HSD display…
- a new map is reuired with different colors, becaues if you overlay anything on current it is unreadable.
