@Tom:
If I open the viewer to show the falcon4 model - and click trough the switches and DOF I can`t see any functions. So that Sa10 is a static display model in Falcon.
Thanks and regards,
TomFor ground vehicles, switch 0 is for the towed posture.
DOF 0 is for gun/missle rotation
DOF 1 is for gun/missle elevation -

DOF 1 is for gun/missle elevationI note the SA-6 and StraightFlush currently travel in the “ready to fire” position with the SA-6 unrealisticlly tracking enemy aircraft as the launcher moves.
If new models use switch 0 will the SA-6 and StraightFlush stop and fire with the current 4.32 exe or will we need to wait for an update.
Edit: and DOF 5 for rotating radar?

There are so many unmodeled issues around mobile SAM and relocation that currently the mentioned issues, currently are who cares issues. (IMHO)
As long as relocation cannot be modeled on any level… -
I believe some of the issues around mobile SAMs will be addressed by the BMS dev’s and that high quality functional models will have a better chance of making it into the full BMS install. To this end I encourage TomCatz to add any available functions to his models even though we may have to wait for the .exe / DB to catch up sometimes.

Currently the only way to model this using the towed as for D-30 + Kraz truck. But this does not mean that transition is smooth between the opened and packed state.

IMHO more than sufficient for Falcon. The question is does switch 0 work with the current exe ie. Hayab’s Frog 7 has a switch 0 but it doesn’t seem do anything in game - is this specific to the Frog 7 or true for all non-towed vehicals.

Hi,

JESUS CHRIST!!! That is some good stuff. I guess at this point, I shouldn’t be surprised!!!;)
Great Job,

Wow… :bowd:

good job.
better check this thread to avoid duplication of modelling work…

This kind of art-work (+ what demer does in terrain tiling) in DEVs ears. Otherwise it will be a waste of talent.
-
Beautiful work dude, thanks for your efforts!
On a side not has anyone done any work on infantry yet? Might be a great idea to have some infantry models instead of the paper like ones we have in the game at the momentPeace

Really have to be careful at pollycount for ground units models. That can put many PC on the knee quite easily near the flot, especially using TGP …
But beautiful model!

@Tom:
Hi,
after some hours …
Are these fully finished implemented LODs? Is the ZSU-23-2 is a towed with well set flag?
Maybe you and Hayab should be cooperated because he also made a ZSU-23-2 model.
Do you plan make new SA-2/3/5? Only launchers or their radars are on your list? What about booster stage separation?
Will you share all of LODs for 3rd part modders?

BMS Team has a new set of these. SA-4 also.

hmmm this can be done vice versa I believe… what brings all puters to their knees is the cockpit which could be tried a reduced poly version that no one could figure out the diference…

Newer sam’s needed, have your pick:

There are big gaps in between the Patriot and the Hawk.

New SAMs require new DB entries and new data files. From what I have seen this won’t happen soon. Hayab and Tomcatz replace the existing LODs but did not create new DB entries.
BTW this is a conceptual issue.
1. Is core DB should inculde ALL stuff which is required for ALL theater?
2. If the answer is no, every new item in DB have to integrated by 3rd party devs into their own DB.
IMHO it is much wiser to sacrifice existing entries, because not all kind of SAM type is necessary for a certain theater but one issues still remains. DB can be spearted for any theater but dat files are not…
-
1 - IMO … yes! That would be the best for stability and code update issues. Less flexibility, but much less work for Theater DEV.
