Somalia Theatre ?
-
Correct.
-
Thank you both to replying to my question !
Since the scenario is not compatible with BMS i would like to create a scenario in the Horn of Africa but im not talented with all the ai and environment works, However i do have the story and battles ready i can write them down…and maps…
All the information and stuff…So if somebody is happy to make Somali-Ethiopian Scenario i would be very glad and would support them fully ! -
I’ve always thought the Ogaden War would be an awesome low-intensity conflict to model in Falcon.
-
I still believe it would totally rock to recover parts of MadDog’s work if he kept the contact to whomever is capable enough to work with his old FF3 art. It is not Somalia but an area totally unrespresented in modern combat fighter sims. heck, TBH I wish he would have made a deal with the FF devs back then to at least integrate some of his and his team buddies’ kickass cockpits and 3D WIP models. If anyone is interested in nice Morocco tiles, I edited some of a fellow IL-2 modding site member’s tex and those would totally kick ass in BMS as well. IMO. Don’t make me post screens…
Cheers
Tom

I thought Mad Dog said anyone who wanted to use that stuff could use it? I can’t remember now and I’m too lazy to go looking for the thread.
Anyway, that terrain he had was nice. The tiles should work in FF6/BMS, right?
-
There’s plenty of good tiles available. I am sure if we asked nicely Ted would give us permission the use of his ITO tiles. Now if somebody could create a good 64 segment terrain, I could make the BMS template and some of the artwork…:D
-
Ted’s terrain is outstanding.
It’s not Africa, but the best desert Falcon artwork I’ve seen.Tom
-
Thank Tom. My tiles are for use, by whoever wants it but the crux of the matter is to make/edit the theater and this is where the good and (as much as Falcon4 tile terrain engine allows) “realistic” feel comes from. BTW any news about Redko’s project? That was really good desert IMHO.

Just a few q’s: Polak: are You the Polak who are/was involved in FF. And crazyTom: Are You TomDWaelti?
Not that it matters, but I’m curius.
If it is so, we have a great source here, and we should all be greatfull
-
LOL, you are correct in the case of Polak, but no crazyTom is not Waelti, he also is related to FF as TOM, a campaign tester on the FF team, and even though he is not Waelti, he is an invaluable resource. I know, we worked hand in hand for over 2 years and did a BUTT load of very excellent work for me and the FF team.

5 minutes work… (Gulf of Aden):
Is easy to do, because it is boring.
Not urban, river, etc. ……Even a limit of 4096 tiles, should not be big problem, looking at it:I think that’s a good idea for a new theater. But….
Cheers,
Arek. -

Despite some “ups and downs” @ FF I honestly miss that teamwork feel. Oh well, I know that it too did not carried on forever, but it was nice while it lasted. Here @ BMS I sense we are little more separated and more like “every man for himself”. Which perhaps is fine too, but projects naturally would take longer to be completed and enjoyed.

I agree Ted, but, as we know, for what ever reasons, all things must come to an end. We had some great times. Thanks

Arek.Great job Eghi, very good looking terrain. It doesn’t look boring at all. I think the rural nature of the theatre makes it a great theatre for desert tank war campaigns. Also, it makes it an exciting possibility of engaging older Russian against similar Russian equipment using classic weapons. Say something like FAB bombs and Atoll missiles.
Or, with the right type of SAM and AAA defenses along with a fictional upgraded Somali Air Force, we could have USN/NATO versus North East Africa campaigns. Or we could have have combination of the above two scenarios. It would a very different, but challenging type theatre.
How much of the terrain do you have done? If you could spare some time for more terrain work, I can work on some artwork and a template.
-
If you can give me terrain, I’ll look at throwing some campaign stuff on it.

Good day Ted, he is offline since over a year now, no one got a clue what happened.
Hope redko comes back because his artwork reg. tiles in IL-2 always rocked and he had a way of creating tex and aligning them in the IL-2 engine which is far beyond my horizon.
I tried to learn the basics of map editing in this sim and it is the same in IL-2 as here in Falcon: The guys who do the 1st class work have years of experience and self-education on their backs. -
PS: Imagine a Black Hawk down scenario where the Deltas and Rangers got F-16 and AH-64 support.
That would rock. -

Hmm …ok… If you find some more people to work, I can build the whole terrain.
Sort of thing:
I’ll think about it after holiday.
